If you’re looking for the freshest lobster on the East Coast, you MUST try Roy Moore Lobster Company. I have been coming here for over 10+ years. I figured it was time to update my 9+ year old review!

Roy Moore is famous for their locally-caught lobsters. They’re typically 1 1/2 LB lobsters, which is the perfect size in my opinion. The meat is juicy, tender, and flavorful. The larger lobsters are more tough.

The establishment is a no-frills environment. You order up-front and eat out back on the deck overlooking the water. They offer fresh lobsters, smoked salmon, smoked mussels, clam chowder, oysters, Jonah crab claws, fish cakes, stuffed clams, lobster rolls, and shrimp cocktails.

Everything is incredibly fresh. You’ll frequently see staff bringing in crates of lobsters right off the boat. It doesn’t get any fresher than that!

The owner and his son are wonderful people. Kenny is the best at cooking the lobsters, he has it down to a science. You can’t replace experience. The result is a juicy, hot, and flavorful lobster.

We typically start things off with the raw bar. We are big fans of their oysters, shrimp cocktail, and jonah crab claws.

Next, we go for a cup of their incredible clam chowder. It is a meal in and of itself. It’s not like most Clam Chowder where it’s watered down, thin, and tasteless. I’d argue they make the best chowder I have ever had.

Once we have hit the raw bar and chowder, we head onto the Stuffed Clams. The stuffed clams are incredible and they’re one of my favorite items on the menu.

The lobsters are the star of the show here. As of October 2023, you can get (3) lobsters for $40. The price has certainly increased a bit, but to me it’s worth it. They’re always cooked perfectly, pre-cracked, and piping hot.

The service is phenomenal. Kenny and his team truly put their all into the business. They also remember faces. I’ve been going there for 10+ years and he always recognizes me when I stop in.

I will warn you: Do not go on a weekend. The line is literally dozens of people deep. It is totally mobbed. The place has certainly grown and the secret is out where to get the best lobster. I’d suggest visiting during the week, it’s far less busy.

They also have a fish market next door where you can purchase locally-caught, sustainable fish, lobsters, lobster meat, and much more.

Lastly, they now offer Beer and Wine to enjoy with your seafood feast! I highly recommend Roy Moore to locals and tourists alike. There is no other place like it.

Yum, yum, yum!! We caught our own lobsters in the morning with a guide and brought 4 of them on ice in a cooler to Roy Moore’s and they were so kind to cook them up for us! It was an amazing experience and such a cute little seating area in the back. We also ordered the chowder, slaw & oysters. Oysters were some of the best I’ve had! Highly recommend checking this place out.

Just had a delightful Cape Ann lunch of chowder and lobster 🦞 at the estimable Roy Moore ! Tiny storefront! Lobster cooked to order. Lobster in the rough on picnic tables near the most famous view in New England! Sweetest lobster I ever had. Friendly and informal service! Often quite crowded! Has to be timed but I could not have been happier with my lunch!

The seafood here was incredible! Every dish had a large amount of whichever seafood was in it, there was no skimping on lobster or scallops. The sauces for the scampi and the red sauce were outstanding! This was our favorite seafood meal in the area. On a side note, my niece who doesn't eat seafood got the mozzarella sticks and they were exceptionally good as well🤗 The view was great and the staff were attentive and kind. Definitely check this place out if you're in town.

We came here on a Wednesday at 3:30pm. The guy at the front was very helpful and suggest a couple of items for us to try. We got 2 lobster rolls, a dozen Maine oysters , fish cake and stuffed clams. We had to the back to grab a table. The food came out fast and service was great. It's a big pricey but seafood is always on the high end . The lobster roll had little mayo and lettuce. It was simple but worked, the lobster was so fresh and meaty. The stuffed Clam was so delicious with Chuck's of calms mixed up with stuffing. The Maine lobsters were huge and so sweet. The fish cake was a bit dry and better with the tartar sauce. Definitely will be back.

Killer view. The staff is very personable and friendly. We even thought it was nice that they offered to allow our kids to go across the street and bring in other food if they weren’t seafood eater’s (which wasn’t an issue, they just offered). Food was great. Lobster. Incredible. Right off the boat cooked to perfection, shells break apart in your hands. Stop in.

Our go-to lobster place in Rockport, the freshest lobster rolls I’ve ever had. They literally catch their lobsters that same morning and serve it fresh to you. More expensive than other areas ($32/roll) but you’re getting what you pay for. Seating in the back available right on the water, and if you can’t find a seat, the wait is usually no more than 10 min when everytime I’ve gone.

A MUST Roy's the best. Great food no frills. Pro tip bring your own adult beverage. Get it before landing at Rockport. Roy says he my have beer in 2024. Done at the picnic tables out back by the iconic red trap house

Fantastic lobster, fantastic baked clams. Not impressed with lobster roll but after deconstructing it (lobster separated from bread) lobster was...fantastic. And if there is no room to sit down at the back( just a few tables) go by the pier and have your meal with a view.

We are visiting on Tuesday, nice weather, no crowds. Excellent experience here. The server was super friendly. There are about 8 tables on the back of the restaurant for people. We ordered lobster, oyster, shrimp cocktail, fish cake and there is no complain on any of them.
Lobster is really fresh, oyster is also very fresh.
Highly recommend!!

Third time going, after taking a lobster roll tour and going to some high end restaurants in Boston, this remains my favorite. The freshest and tastiest lobster roll I’ve had in NE. Laid back and friendly folks are making a no frills lightly seasoned with Mayo lobster roll with rockport caught lobster. Go early cause they run out.

Always here when thinking of fresh lobsters and they never disappointed me. But this time I tried the lobster roll and I think the bread is too dry and too bland. The roll is not for me but still love the steamed one! 🦞💕

Roy Moore is my happy place. The employees are always in good spirits. It’s arguably the best lobster in MA and the fresh chucked oysters and clam chowder are my favorite in New England. Plus they always have smoked salmon to give to our corgi. If you want to have a great day or impress out of town guests head to Roy Moore.

Great experience at a great price! Roy Moore's gives you an entire boiled and cracked lobster for $13. Super chill, easy to eat meal. The food came out instantly, literally no wait at all. Easy to order and eat there in the back or take it to go. The staff was very friendly and outgoing which made you feel at home. Super fun time and would recommend this place just for the experience.

Great lobster and seafood place with a great view of the water. The employees are extremely friendly and humorous. They referred to boiling the lobsters as putting them in “the hot tub”. You can pick fresh lobster from a tank to eat. Oysters are shucked in front of you as well.

I recommend you eat a boiled lobster rather than a lobster roll... This is an amazing small place to eat. They've been here more than 100 years. You must try this.
