Sclafani's Italian Bakery

Run quickly to Sclafani to try almost anything on their menu. Today's special was the premier of their chopped Itallian (I think that's it's official name). They'd gotten some coverage on a local news show which probably helped fill today's doors, but I've become a regular and they are always busy--but not too busy to have to wait long. The owners are named Rob and Cassandra, both of whom are trained chefs, which means their food is done so well! They bake their freaking bread fresh every single day, and it's wicked good. The chopped sandwich today was so amazing and was way better than some of the ones I've had which seem to dominate reels today. They had some kind of spicy crunchy garlic mayo which was fantastic and didn't overpower the meats. They don't pre-make these or any sandwiches, each made to order, which is so awesomely old-school. Their quality of deli meat and cheese is really exemplary, not grocery store Boar's Head. They have a great, but modestly sized, selection of imported Italian goods including fantastic olive oil, pastas, conservas like anchovies and even caponata! I also urge you to get a made-to-order cannoli, which was absolutely among the best I've ever had. The generous, sweet ricotta filling was thick, but not dense or cloying; we got pistachio and shared one, which was as strategic as slicing a brownie six ways, in the office, to reduce calories. Anyhow, I'm not on the payroll, nor even related, or I'd be there again right now.

We love this place. Every time we are in the area we grab something :) Store looks a little bit updated. Parking is not easy, there are only 2 x 15min parking spots. Or you can try lot in front of 7/11. Busy street.

Stopped by to get a tuna salad sandwich before going to Good Harbor beach (only 8 mins away).

It was soooo good! The bread was amazing, and they put a generous amount of tuna salad, it’s overflowing (and so tasty!!). Love it - 10/10. Will definitely come back!

If you are in Gloucester ever you have to get a sandwich here. The fresh bread, fresh cold cuts and amazing service is worth the effort to find this little gem.

The food is always great. I was concerned when it sold, but the new owners bring the same excellence that the original owners did. I drive to Gloucester to only come here and it's definitely worth the trip.

This bakery is amazing, I heard that it was under new ownership. so I had to stop in while on vacation and try it out. Everything was just as delicious as I remembered. The new owner was very welcoming. The sliced bread if my favorite, especially fresh in the morning. They have great subs and pizza too. I would highly recommend you check it out if you're in the Gloucester area.

Best in Gloucester! The meatball subs are so good, but the turkey gobbler is BEST!

Bought some lobster tails, chocolate and cream filled cornetti, pistachio cookies (these were so yum!), and a ricotta pie (this humble, delicious little pie blew my mind away). ❤ Will definitely be back to buy more stuff next Saturday. Friendly folks as well. ❤

My kids are OBSESSED with the cannolis from Scalafani's. Nachos/enchiladas at Lupitas then cannolis from here makes happy children.

We visit Gloucester twice a year and always look forward to visiting Cafe Sicilia. We can't say enough about how delicious and fresh the pastries are. We order the casatina ahead of time to bring home with us❤😊

OMG the best bread, pizza and sandwiches!! Stopped here by chance on our way to the beach and now we plan our beach trips around their hours. This place is the best!!

I absolutely love Sclafani’s, their bread is delicious and made daily. One of the best sub places in Gloucester hands down.
