Martin did a wonderful job and at a reasonable cost on my 1991 BMW. I am always grateful to meet a mechanic who knows what he's doing and is honest. He showed me the parts he replaced and I loved his shop - super clean and he seems to enjoy being there. An absolute pleasure to work with. Thanks again Martin!

My partner and I needed a car quickly and were so glad we found Martin. He was patient and kind and the sale was quick. I would recommend doing business with Martin to anyone.

A friend recently referred me to Martin and I brought him an old (2005) Dodge/Mercedes sprinter van that I'm converting into a camper. I knew there were lots of issues going into the repair (brakes, rust, brake lines/hoses, tires, etc. etc.)

Martin took the time to thoroughly inspect the van and provided fair estimates for his work. The parts seemed reasonable relative to online prices and his labor costs seemed very fair.

We had a delay on some tires that I had ordered online - and then had to re-order because I got the wrong size. He was patient with me even when the van spent several days up on one of his lifts.

I'd definitely recommend Martin if you're looking for a solid mechanic who does good work at a fair price!

Thanks again!

Martin’s Auto is everything a garage should be. The owner/mechanic is honest, fair and friendly. I was surprised to see only one google review for Martin’s Auto Repair and it described the worst kind of business. The problem is that Martian’s garage is no such place. As customer, and later a part time employee while a student at UMass, I saw him interact with students, teachers, and all the other people that make the valley what it is. He looked at the issues from the perspective of the customer and he looked as his business as having roots in his community. He always spoke his mind and was, above all, honest and fair. His shop was an extension of his person with stained glass at the windows and automotive art on the walls. It would be my recommendation to anyone in the area to bring this repair facility your business. If you have dealt with this business please post. Martin no doubt has earned your support as he did mine many times over.

I've owned my Saab 93S Turbo Convertible since 2002. Martin has been my mechanic for the past 7 years after moving from Boston to Belchertown. In fact, I've owned 3 new Saabs since 1984! 😀
He is the BEST mechanic I've ever had! He's very experienced, talented, conscientious, dependable, friendly, honest, fair, hardworking, etc.👍
Unfortunately, when I'm in the market for a NEW car, it won't be a Saab & I'll have to settle on a lousy mechanic I don't trust.😪

I will tell you up front that I never had a car that needed work done by Martin's Auto; he was never my auto mechanic. I met him because I wrote a news article about him for my local paper some 10 years ago. I am here to tell you he is a stand up guy who cares about people. I interviewed him in person shortly after his business and home was burnt to the ground and he had just reopened his business on Federal Street. He was charismatic, knowledgable, friendly, and honest. Fast forward 10 years, I called Martin out of the blue to see if he would speak to my son about the automobile business, something my son is interested in. He remembered me, complimented my work, and noted it was 10 years ago I wrote the article about him. He said, "You made me look like a super hero!" Not only that, but after a nice conversation, he agreed to meet with my son. I don't know about you, but that is the kind of person I want to do business with. And if I ever have the need for his services, you can bet I will be at his door!

**I apologize for this duplicate review. The other one is under a Google account that’s only temporary and will go away soon!

I had been looking to buy a convertible for a year. I passed by Martin’s auto a few months ago and noticed a Saab convertible. I came back a few days later and took the car for a test drive.

This was the first time I had ever met Martin. He was very friendly and willing to answer all of my questions. There were many, having never owned a Saab, especially one with high mileage. It was clear Martin knew his cars well and was very honest about the overall cost of ownership of this car. The car was in very good condition for being a 2000 with high mileage. The body was free of rust, the engine compartment was pretty clean, the exhaust had only minor surface rust, and the tires had even wear. During the test drive the car was a bit shaky. I told Marin I was interested but the shaking needed to be resolved. Martin worked on the car for a few days and gave me a call when it was ready.

When I returned for a test drive the car was 90% better. Everything else on the car was in good shape and Martin offered a 1 month 1000 mile warrantee. This was not required for high mileage cars in Massachusetts. I bought the car believing that I could work out any other minor issues over the next month. Working out any issues would be the real test for the integrity of Martin’s auto.

After driving the car for about 250 miles I found several minor issues and one bad rattle in the car. I brought the car back to Martin to get them checked out. Martin resolved the minor issues very quickly with the replacement of some sensors and brake pads, which were new but squeaking horribly.

The rattle took a few days longer to resolve. Martin replaced several parts and in the end fixed everything to my satisfaction. It was clear that Martin had spent a lot of time and money to make the car right since the first test-drive. His only goal was making me a satisfied customer. He never made excuses or complained about his bottom line. He simply worked to make everything right.

Bottom line for me is that I don’t trust mechanics easily, preferring to do what work I can myself. As I have less time these days I am always on the look out for a good mechanic. Martins auto is a place I would go back to and already have for my other cars. Martin takes the time to explain anything you want to know, anything. For Martin his shop is not just a business but a passion and it shows. I am glad I noticed the car in the lot and took the time to stop in a meet Martin. I not only have a fun and inexpensive good running convertible to drive this summer. I have two new mechanics I can trust, Martin and Mark.

I went to Martin's Auto because my Saab had some rust build up that was making an annoying noise and I needed new brake pads. They did a great job and were very accommodating to my schedule, getting the parts I needed by the next business day. Martin even made me tea while I waited! Great service, and great work done.

Very conscientious owner, tells you what needs fixing and doesn't try to inflate the bill like some of the franchises have been caught doing. We had our car serviced and detailed here and we're definitely sending him more of our business. So happy to support a local business.

fairly decent cars, difficult character. Never learned that although the customer may not always be right, they are still the customer and deserve to be treated with respect and without contempt.
