UMass Parking Services

I wasn't able to resolve an issue I had previously, but I came back today and was helped by a woman named Abby. She did a wonderful job, and went above and beyond to help me. She was able to promptly assess, and resolve my issue. She has excellent communication and customer service skills. She definitely deserves a raise! Made my entire experience pull a 180.

I needed a temporary permit for my rental while my car was is in service. They were super friendly, efficient -- perfect!

Always fabulous. Nice people- very helpful. Great to do business with them.

5 stars for a place like this might seem nutty, but they cancelled a parking ticket for me without any issues, which I really appreciated. I accidently typed the wrong license plate number into the parkmobile app and they didn't give me a hard time about it. Getting parking tickets sucks, they made it a lot nicer.

They actually read the appeals.

Don't even try to appeal. I got a $75 ticket for leaving my car for less than 10 minutes. Tried to appeal under "only parked for a short time"- was denied and told that the appeal options don't actually apply to most lots and I was never going to get appealed. And if you don't pay there stupidly high ticket cost they can put a hold on your class registration.

Paid over $300 for a lot that is a 10 minute uphill walk from my dorm. UMass Parking Services doesn't mention, until after receiving the sticker in the mail, that the lot happens to be closed for ALL football games and major events (like the Move In days). I now have no permitted place to park on campus except for the "other parking options" that happen to be metered parking. Thanks UMass Parking Services!

Make you pay 100’s of dollars for a parking permit then when your lot is full and you have to park somewhere else, you have to pay $100’s in fees again. You can appeal these fees online but only if they respond within 14 days, which they DO NOT! If I could give 0 stars, I would!

Parked in visitor parking where parking is free over the weekends and got towed. Had to pay a $300 dollar fine. Instructions for where visitors can park is very unclear and the price for parking permits on campus is ridiculous.

Parking fines that are 400% or more than every other local municipality for equivalent violations. Discriminatory practices that disproportionately harm underrepresented populations and low income individuals. Complete lack of accountability or due process afforded to individuals to contest inappropriate or inaccurate citations. Frequent use of holds preventing student's from enrolling in classes, consequently denying access to healthcare and other essential services.

I very rarely write 1-star reviews, but UMass parking services is simply horrendous. They make you pay $$$ for a permit, then ticket you when you can't find a parking space in your permitted lot and have to park somewhere else. Extremely dissatisfied with their lack of ANY form of empathy when it comes to appealing a citation, particularly when your permitted lot was full at the time. And apparently (at least this year), they completely ran out of permits for current students. How is that possible?? I agree with the other reviews that UMass parking services is really just out to get your money at every turn, and they take advantage of the fact that most employees and students need vehicles to get on campus (due to the limited and extremely expensive housing in Amherst-- but, that's a tale for another review). They are (unfortunately for us who work or attend school here) a violently accurate example of a corrupt, monopolized system that takes advantage of the folks who are already pouring money and work into the University.

If I could give 0 stars I would. These people look to rip you off in every which way possible. Park for a single minute past what you paid for and you are getting a ticket. If Umass focused their efforts on something other than sending a bunch of people around with ticket guns, aimlessly wandering parking lots ruining people's days, the world would be a better place. Eat rocks and choke Umass Parking, and post a video online.

This place deserves 0 star, is unfriendly to new student. If you don’t want student to purchase green or blue or any other non yellow permit directly, just say that on the website. I wasted months on a waitlist and only to found that I was kicked out. Got no notification saying I was dropped out of the waitlist and said nothing about the “rule” either. The supply is also far less than the demand. Do a survey on how many students parked illegally on the campus only because they can not get a permit. You will find how bad the job was done by the parking service.

For $159 you get a unmarked dirt parking lot 1/4 mile away from your dorm. Even when you park in the parking lot you get fined $40.00 without phone warning for slightly "obstructing the entrance". Don't try to appeal it either because the despot overseeing the appeals will deny the appeal, merely reciting the terms of the citation. Why even have appeals? Why give broke college students any hope? Don't bring your car to UMass. Attend a university you can commute to from your parents' house.
