Nuno's Restaurant & Lounge

Nuno’s has been at this location for 4 years but only recently discovered it via a coworker. Access off the highway is easy although parking can be a challenge.

The restaurants ambience is cozy and inviting due to low lighting, warm colors and friendly staff.

Nuno, the owner, was a former bartender at Traneira restaurant in Westport, MA and owned the Porta’s de Cidade also in Westport.

The menu has your traditional Portuguese fair while adding some dishes with a traditional twist.

We had the little neck clams in both the wine and garlic and Spanish style with a tomato broth. Both were great when coupled with a Portuguese bread roll for dipping.

We ordered the traditional Portuguese steak plate house style with rice, fries and fried eggs. Now keep in mind some typical Portuguese restaurants serve a flattened, tenderized steak but Nuno’s serves a thicker sirloin steak.

I have to praise the cooks for being able to correctly get the steaks to a medium rare. Many portuguese restaurants seem to only cook well done no matter what you ask for so they did a great job.

We finished our dishes off with some Lancers Portuguese wine. It’s the classic budget wine with a great taste and decent buzz.

Overall the restaurant, people, atmosphere was a great addition to my list of go to Portuguese restaurants. We will definitely be back.

So pleased with the atmosphere, clean bathroom BUT let me tell you about the food…WOW we had chicken wings to start crispy on the outside juicy inside. The baked stuffed shrimp dish and pasta with little necks, shrimp and chorizo in a Spanish sauce phenomenal! We were greeted and checked on as soon as we walked in and our waitress was so attentive we’ll definitely be back!

Delicious martinis, 2 flavorful dishes, and a very yummy tiramisu. I had the special which was Scallops and Shrimp with Mozambique and pasta. Mmm. Amazing sauce and fresh scallops! Our waitress was so friendly and provided excellent service.

I was impressed with how friendly and polite the staff was while being professional. The food was delivered very fast and everyone's meats were cooked perfectly. My swordfish was juicy and melted in my mouth. My sister's meat had a delicious char on it. The Halibut my dad ordered was delicate & tasty. My mom's octopus was what she called: *chef's kiss*.

I just wish there was a little more spice/salt and less oil used. I'm not fond of having my food swim in oil however I recognize this is very common in Portuguese cuisine. Otherwise, it was all truly great!

The Chocolate Mousse was also a pleasant consistency. 👍

My parents come to this restaurant all the time and have nothing but great things to say about the service, food, and atmosphere. Whenever I am down in this area we always come to eat at Nunos and I have nothing but great things to say. I always have a great meal and great conversations with the staff. The staff is also very welcoming and make sure you have the best experience. We personally get to speak with the owner himself every time and he is one of the nicest guys I have ever met. Today we came in for lunch and the Pork Cutlets with the mushroom sauce was absolutely amazing! The owners wife who is the cook in the back comes out and personally conversed with people and was very welcoming.

My husband and I come here often. When they’re super busy and when they’re not the food is always consistently good! and not overly spicy coming from someone who doesn’t like “heat” in her food. Some Portuguese restaurants are so heavy on the spice you can’t taste any other flavor but here everything is perfectly tasty. The staff is wonderful and the owner Nuno is always there making sure everything is per his standards. He takes such pride in delivering excellent food and service. He’s a wonderful and kind man to speak to and really cares about his customers. Not to mention this place is always so clean, from the dining room, bar, kitchen and even bathrooms! Great traditional Portuguese and non traditional food selection and wine list, it’s must try!

The food was very good, service was great! Highly recommend their shrimp with safron dish!

Another amazing dinner and experience! Nuno and his team work tirelessly to ensure the food and service is top notch! When your dining @ Nuno’s, he makes you feel like your a guest at his home! I highly recommend Nuno’s if you have never been! You will be highly satisfied!

My Aunt and I were in town from Connecticut and asked someone for recommendations for a good Portuguese restaurant, since ours have been lacking the past few years. She gave us two restaurants to choose from and am I thrilled that we chose this place! From the ambiance, waitress and the food......PERFECTION! We will drive the 3 hours just to come here again.

food is delicious and very well presented. nuno and his wife work very hard to ensure that everyone had a great dining experience. Ana, our server, is 5 stars. Totally worth a trip!

First time here. EVERYTHING was phenomenal. They gave quite a nice size portion, had to take some home. Not complaining for sure. Couldn't have had better service. Highly recommend

Place is overall a great place. The parking situation sucks but that's new Bedford for you. The service is awesome I've never had a bad experience with anyone working there and the only reason the food isn't 5 stars is because for every 10 steaks I get I usually get 1 that's a bit chewy but it's not from the cook it's just the way the steak was cut by the butcher, really fatty....highly recommend this place you won't regret it

Best Portuguese food around! 10 all-day long. I needed reservations but I was lucky and got in for a table of 4. I will never forget this place.

A real great experience. The food was excellent and was very reasonable. The waitress was very charming and down to earth. A definite nice place to go out and enjoy a great atmosphere.

One of if not Thee best Portuguese cuisine in New Bedford. Amazing atmosphere Amazing service especially the short older woman she made us feel like family at the dinner table. The food is fresh and was on point. I got the stuffed lobster and let me tell you, one of the best i ever had. Highly Recommend Two Thumbs Up

An amazing dining experience today for lunch at Nuno’s in New Bedford. Between the tuna largareiro and the bacalhau (codfish) à Brás two outstanding plates complimented with equally great service by the staff and ownership. Can’t wait to return the next time very soon.

My husband and myself along with our adult kids when home have been coming to Nuno's since the first week he opened and have dined there just about every week since. You simply cannot beat the food quality, quantity (leftovers are a guarantee for us), consistency (always fantastic), price, cleanliness throughout and most of all, the warm, welcoming, family and friend atmosphere. Nuno, his wife and entire staff including their bartenders are top notch, the best around. You can always find Nuno most always at the front desk and if not, his eyes are always on the front, doing his best in seating people and/or trying his best to accommodate everyone (btw, the place can be busy esp at peak times so expecting a wait isn't uncommon, as you would anywhere else, but so worth it). He makes his rounds to check on food delivery and patron's satisfaction but you will also find him delivering food as well, you name it and he's doing it along with his staff, all the while his wife works hard behind the scenes with their kitchen staff preparing homemade food at it's best! I do have to mention, although, we love ALL of their food, their fish and/or seafood in general selection is amazing incl Halibut, Tuna Steaks, Jumbo Shrimps to name just a few examples...SUPERB and during Lent, for us it's important to carry on the "Fish on Friday" tradition, I tell them this all of the time, they have not only the BEST Fish/Seafood but the FRESHEST Fish/Seafood. One word for this place and even that's not enough...Outstanding

Yummo!! Best fish and chips I've ever had in New Bedford! I'm originally from here. I now live in NH and was visiting family. I said I need to go get my Portuguese on. Where do I go? We tried this place honestly because no one was open the Wednesday after Christmas. They were!! Thank you!!😘 Hand cut Portuguese cut fries, don't mind if I do! Thank you for taking the time and not getting frozen, anyone can do that! Keep up the good work ! When I'm in town again I will be stopping by.
