I can’t begin to express how grateful I am for Ricardo and the team at CharlieBar.

Our poodle mix Ruffles was always the sweetest with us, but he had bad aggression with other people. We were always afraid to have people over because they couldn’t interact with him.

We started taking him to a popular daycare/training facility hoping it would help, but Ruffles wouldn’t improve. We had him scheduled for boarding and before our trip the daycare had told us Ruffles was not allowed back. The owner told my wife and I that he was essentially untrainable and the only option was medication.

We called a local vet who told us that re-homing him wasn’t an option, and that putting him down might the most humane thing to do.

Out of desperation a few days before our trip we came across CharlieBar online, and noticed he had an opening for a 2 week board and train that started right before our trip. Due to the overwhelming positive reviews we contacted Ricardo and had him booked.

To my shock, within a few days of dropping him off, we were sent videos of our dog LETTING STRANGERS PET HIM IN PUBLIC. We couldn’t believe that this was the same dog we were told a week ago we should probably put down.

We kept getting more and more updates on his improvement.

When we picked him up, Ricardo took his time and explained to us everything Ruffles had been taught and how to handle him around new people. He also took us to a public spot to show us him interacting with strangers. We were left with the tools we needed to pass on what he learned those 2 weeks into our home.

From that day on, our dog has been a completely different dog. He walks great, when we tell him to “place” he immediately goes into his spot.

Now when new people come over, within a few hours of introduction, he’s running around with them in the park.

Fast forward to this week and we boarded Ruffles for over a week with CharlieBar and we were at ease knowing he’s with people who know what they are doing. We got daily updates and we can’t wait for Ruffles to board with them again!

Please, if you are looking for an incredible dog training facility, stop looking and use CharlieBar. Worth every penny.

So thankful for the newly added grooming services offered at CharlieBar!!! Our Cattle mix has been turned away from other groomers because he shows kennel aggression with complete strangers and he refuses to let us bathe him. The groomer at CharlieBar was so helpful and worked so well with him! He didn't show any aggression during his bath, only when it came to trimming his nails but the groomer was patient and knew how to handle him. She also gave me several tips on how to attempt to bathe him myself next time, but I plan to keep taking him in since they were so quick and helpful. Not to mention the great pricing! We're so thankful and pleased, we felt like she performed a miracle! 😉

We boarded our 2 dogs for the first time for a few days and everything went great. They have opposite temperaments but they handled them well. We also got many updates and pictures from their stay. We'll definitely be using CharlieBar boarding again.

Drax is doing awesome!!!
The house has such a calm about it now. He seems so much more relaxed and confident. The other dogs are calmer around him too. He and my heeler are getting along again, and the heeler (who had e-collar training) is self regulating while watching me work with Drax. I’m so thankful for you guys. We just finished a nice long walk and some hold drills out front. He’s walking so well with hardly any corrections and we’re working on sitting and waiting at intersections before crossing. 🙌

What a great experience. My first time using a professional trainer. I couldn't have been luckier. Ricardo is very customer oriented and understands dogs. He had my Shar Pei following commands in minutes. Plus, he taught my wife and I how to continue training on our own. Don't look any further than CharlieBar.

Rick board and trained my dogs for 2 weeks and they are so much better behaved than they were beforehand. My pitty would not get out of the pool before training and now she will when we use the commands he taught us. Also, my pitty is aggressive and he still helped us. It was a relief to use his boarding services so we could go on vacation and has good pricing. They send text updates and pictures the entire time. Thanks Rick and your team for all you've done. I took Athena in for a 2 week board and train and it was life changing. She learned how to make decisions and not just react, and I've learned to set boundaries with her. She is much happier and more calm now. I highly recommend this training. As an owner I just had to keep up on it, and now that I know what I'm supposed to do it's easy.

WOW. Ricardo was so great. We have an almost 4-year-old lab/shepherd/hound mix who has demonstrated reactivity at home and he gave us so much to work on. His way of framing the situation(s) at hand were super helpful and was great at checking in to make sure we were understanding each step along the way.

We did our session at home as that is where most of the negative behavior takes place and he gave us so much hope after our training session. We have a lot of homework, but we are so thankful or the valuable lessons!! Couldn't recommend enough!

All I can say is wow. We sent 3 dogs to his two week "boot camp" and what a difference. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Definitely highly recommend CharlieBar! They gave us daily updates and photos. Our dogs seemed super happy when we arrived to pick them up and in the daily photos. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

*Update*
We recently just had a baby. CharlieBar stepped up big time! We had to have our dogs boarded last minute. They had no problem fitting us in. Can't say how happy we have been while doing business with them. Our dogs always seem so happy when they are there too!

We rescued Martha, a pitbull / cattledog mix, from the shelter just a few hours before she was to be euthanized. She is older and set in her ways. We tried to integrate her with our family, but things were not going well. We hired a trainer to come to the house weekly and help us. She finally cried "Uncle", and recommended Ricardo at Charlie Bar board and train as she left for the last time. We dropped Martha off for a 2 week session. Ricardo and the crew were fantastic with her. Rick is very personable, professional and forthright. Rarely have we met anyone who is so earnest, driven or passionate about his work. He, Kenz, and another lady whose name eludes me (I apologize) worked with her so well, we ended up bringing Martha back for 3 weeks more training! Most importantly, they were very above-board and open. They sent pictures, emails and/or videos each day letting us know how she was doing. They responded quickly with detailed answers to any questions we posed. And Martha enjoys seeing the crew (unlike her reaction at the vet's office). Our experience was so positive, we will drop her off there for regular boarding, when we go away overnight or on extended vacations! We've hired trainers before for our dogs, but have never had such a positive experience. A huge THANK YOU goes out to Ricardo and the crew!!

We recently left Seirios our Shepherd mix with CharlieBar for their 2 week board and train. Seirios would react walking on a leash and was very nervous out in public or meeting new people. After his two week training he has improved so much, Ricardo help rebuild his foundational obedience training and helped him gain confidence in public. He also spent time working with us to help address his leash reactivity. I feel like we can walk him now without him reacting and understand the actions behind it. I also really appreciated Ricardo and his team as I am someone who asks a lot of questions, especially with my dogs. The team was so amazing they sent me daily pictures and videos of Seirios's training. They answered all my questions and really spent the time to ensure we were comfortable with the training. Ricardo also did an amazing job really breaking down what was driving some of Seirios struggles and how we can help improve them. I appreciated how much they went above and beyond in the training. Would highly recommend

We sent our (2) Bernadoodle puppies for the 2 week board and train, and so happy we did! What an amazing transformation in 2 weeks time! We received daily updates, photos and videos of their progress!

I brought home a puppy much to the unhappiness of my 5 year old golden retriever. In one session, Ricardo gave me the tools I needed to work with them both. In less than one week, they were playing and getting along! Now I have the know how to correct any negative behaviors! Highly recommend.

We adopted a pit bull he had one day left they were going to euthanize him. He had no discipline or direction, and we knew that. We booked 2 week boot camp with Ricardo at Charliebar on July 15th but needed his guidance until boot camp so we booked a session at our home. I feel like it's magic our dog has responded to what Ricardo taught us that same day and it is magic he is responding as if he has been training for months. Ricardo is amazing. My daughter has booked a session for her 8 year old bully this week and I can't wait to see our dog after 2 weeks at boot camp, Ricardo you are a life saver for us humans and you are saving these dogs. I purchased a private lesson and it was for my 7 year old dog and I wanted to learn how to get him to stop jumping on people. He learned and I learned and I have taken him out in public places and everyone loves Cooper Dean - he smiles at everyone but will sit now before they can pet him 👏🏻

Our 5yr old German Shepherd has been there for almost 2 weeks first boarding only and now in the 2week training/board program. We get pictures and updates everyday of her progress. Even a video you update was sent too. Ric and his staff have been fabulous and looking forward to learning what we can do at home to keep the training consistent 💜❣👍🏼

I want to praise CharlieBar Boarding and Training for private training our service dog Pixie. Pixie spent two weeks with them. We received daily pictures with a note about what she was learning. Today when we picked her up, WE were trained for an hour on how to continue and reinforce her training. We highly recommend the team if you have a puppy or dog that needs extra training. She will go back for more training in May, as she has service dog skills to master. Thank you to the team at CharlieBar!

We just picked up our 2 labs today from their 2 week board train at CharlieBar and the progress they made is incredible. Ricardo, we can't thank you enough for all of your hard work with Willow & Humphrey these past few weeks. The difference in their behavior is absolutely noticeable and considering how they were when we dropped them off, pretty remarkable. You are outstanding at what you do and it is fascinating to watch!

My heart is so happy! Charlie Barr saved our lives and gave us the tools to live a better quality of life with our dog. My rescue dog has struggled with extreme fear, reactivity and aggression for years. While he is wonderful with us and his dog siblings, this made many aspects of life difficult outside of that - he couldn’t go near any people or any other animals, trips to the vet were next to impossible and required sedation, and it limited us from being able to travel or even have people over.

Our relationship started with Charlie Barr when NO ONE would help us with boarding our dog when we had an emergency come up and had to leave town. They welcome him with open arms, give him time to decompress and handled him with care while he boarded. They never made me feel ashamed of the struggles we were having. I also really admired seeing all the work in the community he and his staff are doing with local rescues, giving his time to help rehabilitate and work with shelter dogs.

Fast forward a few years, we were ready to send him in for a 2 week board and train. They sent updates and pictures daily, and within a few days we were witnessing our dog do things we never thought he could ever do. He was socializing with other dogs, walking and working with multiple people. We absolutely lost it (in a good way!) when we saw Ricardo walking our dog through a packed restaurant patio on a football Saturday - walking past several other dogs, people - and he was relaxed, confident and happy. The normal reactivity was nonexistent. This is a dog who’s never been in close contact with anyone - GROUND BREAKING!

We picked him up today from Charlie Barr and we’re given a detailed one on one session with Ricardo for the hand off. He showed us every command and expectation in detail, and gave us every tool we need to continue with the training on our own. We asked Ricardo about upcoming events in our home and without hesitation he offered to come over to our home and help us with guidance. We can finally work toward a new normal. Our dog can finally begin to have a life with new experiences in and out of the house… but also can be happy, healthy and stress free in situations we’ve always had to avoid.

Would I do it all over again? In a heartbeat. Will I recommend everyone to them? Absolutely. THANK YOU RICARDO AND YOUR STAFF FOR EVERYTHING! You truly don’t know how much of a difference in our lives you’ve made and our future. We cannot wait to start implementing your training in our home every day (already started!), to continue bringing our dogs to boarding and future in home training. We know we have the tools and foundation to be successful.

We have dropped our dog off twice for both boarding and training and it has made ALL of the difference. Our dog is more obedient and we as a family have tools and commands to have a better experience. Can't recommend enough!
