Dr. Stearns did my rotator cuff surgery. He did a thorough job, and thru out my physical therapy, the therapists remarked several times, that my recovery and range of motion were great. They seemed quite impressed with my surgeon and the job he'd done. Also, he is a lovely man who has done surgical missionary trips to Africa, to contribute to those in need. Overall, color me impressed!

One of the top best Orthopedic Surgeons who cares about his patients. Excellent bed side manners he has done two surgeries on one knee getting ready for a total knee replacement. Wouldn't have no one else do any kind of orthopedic surgeries but him. His office staff Ashley is Wonderful she is on top of everything.

I have known Dr Stearns since 1999. Anything orthopedic related I use him. He is tops in the field, very personable, caring, understanding. I have recommended him to several of my friends who have used his services and express the same experiences I have had. I would recommend him to everyone.

Dr. Stearns is knowledgeable and friendly. He repaired my shoulder due to rotator cuff injury. The surgery itself went very well and I am healing nicely. Where he falls short is on communication. It took me 6 tries and about a month to get an MRI. Once we were ready for the MRI only to discover the facility did not take my insurance after a week wait. I called the office and they scheduled me 3 weeks out. I asked if there was anything sooner as I was suffering and they advised me to call around to hospital to check schedules and each cancelled appointment I was able to get a time within 2 days of my call finally I was ready to go get the MRI and that was cancelled because the Dr did not send over the orders. The hospital was ready but no orders cancelled it. I finally got the MRI and then the surgery went well.
I took my pain pills as prescribed and when I called for a refill if I needed it I only got the answering machine. I left numerous messages and not a response at all. I would have been ok with them telling me no or come in for an office visit.
Another incident involves the removal of my stitches after surgery. Dr Stearns did not wash his hands or use gloves while removing them.
Finally while I was in for follow up I had him address an ankle fracture I had 11 years ago. The wound has been complicated it heals then opens up with infection and this has been chronic. He took an X-ray is the leg and advised there may be infection under the skin. He prescribed an antibiotic twice daily until he could schedule me for surgery. That was on Wednesday no prescription called in. I called on Thursday the nurse advised will contact the Dr. No prescription. I called early Friday AM before they opened no response. I called again at 1139 and the nurse was waiting on Dr again.
Concerned that I will not get the prescription until Monday I called my primary care Dr and he saw me and he is the one that prescribed the antibiotic.
I hated to involve my primary care Dr but I felt I was left with no choice. I did not want to go to immediate care as I have a complicated health history.
Dr Stearns is a great surgeon but he lacks in communication.

When Dr. STEARNS did my surgery in Jan 2019 he came in smelling like alcohol and garlic. I found out by my physical therapy Adam from Aptiva Health that he experienced the same issue. We both are still in pain and worse than we were before surgery. Dr. STEARNS was the 2nd doctor with the same medical group to do my knee surgery. I had a torn minusics In my knee. I was told that Dr. STEARNS had a drinking problem and to report it to Baptist East which I did but never got a response back. I am getting an attorney to look I to this. I've been told I was not the only patient of his to have issues.

He repaired my shoulder and after a year I still have problems. He did surgery on my leg and he damaged the nerves on my leg and made me disable at the age of 48 ! Please for the sake of your own health don't go to him.
He was so careless when I went to him take my staples out and acted like I was over exaggerating with pain and I was concern about the pikness around the incision and acted like it was nothing and was suppose to write me a MRI but he didn't even put a rush on it and I end up in hospital a week later and 2 surgeries later to clean up the in infection in my leg. 48 and I can't walk ! He made my life hell.
