Ken Combs Running Store

Wonderful shop. I bought a pair of shoes there a few days ago, and when I took them out for a proper spin, they weren't great for my ankles. I brought them back (clean), and Audrey was extremely helpful in finding me the proper pair for my ankle issues. She was so patient and extremely knowledgeable. I will definitely be going back to Ken Combs and would recommend it to everyone.

They had a lot of sales going on with their trail shoes and had a few road running shoes on sale, too. I ended up leaving with two pairs at a reasonable price.

Coming here is like going to a good friend's house! every time I go I feel very welcome, and what I like the most is that they are runners like me. I am a long distance runner and here I always come to find all the fuel I need in my races. I don't know the name of the guy who attends me, but his advice and his experience as a runner have been very useful to me. It has a convenient parking lot, and they also offer many little things for those of us who have the joy of running through these streets of Louisville! they have very nice clothes! And the prices are reasonable!

Ken Combs Running Store is a gem for middle schoolers needing quality running shoes. My daughter, a track enthusiast, had a disappointing experience at another store, but Ken's team turned things around! Their expertise in assessing her feet, arches, and gait ensured she left with the perfect pair. The staff was incredibly friendly, allowing her to try multiple options without any pressure to buy. My daughter (a collegiate runner) was home for break and needed a new pair of trainers for the upcoming indoor season. The folks at Ken Combs went above and beyond to assist her with finding a good shoe for distance and speed work. She settled on the Hoka Mach X! A big thanks to Audrey for assisting in the store (she's wonderful, and has helped us before) and to Patrick who was not at that store this evening but responsive via email no less. You can't beat Ken Combs! They do "RUN LOU!"

Went today to pickup a pair of shoes and felt very important based on the service and attention I received from Audrey. Love a good local running store.

Great service and very knowledgeable staff. I tried on everything suitable for my feet in my size, but many things were out of stock. It wasn't due to any fault of the store, but just backorders and supply chain issues. I'd support local and buy from them when they have more inventory.

Working 12 hours shifts in a hospital does a number on your feet, legs, knees, and back. I stopped in here to get a pair of shoes that would make my shifts a bit less painful and was assisted by Jacob who:
1. watched me walk to evaluate my gait
2. listened to the issues I was having with my previous shoes and suggested alternatives to address those issues
3. explained why my previous shoes weren't the best choice for my specific needs
4. brought out 3 pairs of comfortable shoes for me to try on and answered all of my questions about them, and helped me find a very comfortable pair of shoes that were so great I wore them out of the store!

Never did I think I'd need to go to a running store, but I am glad I chose this one and on top of that it was incredibly efficient. Don't always believe the hype about a certain shoe, go see these experts and they will help you find what works best for YOU! Highly recommend.

Having seen my enthusiasm for the “Triple Crown of Running” and Derby Half-Marathon, my wife decided to attempt running for the first time in her life. Recognizing the need to get her the perfect shoes lest she loose interest quickly because of foot-discomfort, I took her here. The lady assisting her was so knowledgeable and polite, much better customer service than I could ever have imagined. They analyzed her foot type as well as her foot strike and recommended maybe 6 different pairs. They took her time with her, allowing her the opportunity to jog outside with each pair until she ultimately decided on the ones pictured. She spent over an hour assisting my wife in finding the right shoes for her. Further, my son got fitted for a perfect pair of non-spike track/long jump shoes to train in.

Great place with great staff. My daughter has developed pronation and was in need of supportive shoes to help her ankles. The staff here were so helpful and made sure everything fit perfectly. I would 100% recommend this store to anyone.

Michael helped me today and he was wildly useful and knowledgeable. I ran a variety of subjects past him and he gave me a lot of good info, including some tricky stuff dealing with shoes. I started running as an adult 7 years ago and one of my first trips was to Ken Combs to buy shorts and other gear. These folks have held steady on a mission to help runners for a long time and they are deserving of respect and my business.

Today when I visited, Dianne helped me so much! She taught me all you can in about an hour of trying on shoes and it was really fun to learn about how shoes are made for different needs! I am really glad she was there to make sure I left with just the right pair that I felt great about.

Extremely knowledgeable staff, very friendly. I was helped by a very friendly young lady who is a Coast Guard vet. I love the shoes she fitted me into.

I've been looking for a store with vibrams to try on, because I don't want to order them online and be wrong size. The girl who helped us was really nice, I only needed to try one size though. Their selection of shoes and wear is pretty large, not the typical shoe store. I enjoyed my brief stop, quick in and out.

Super helpful staff. My daughter went in looking for shoes and they instantly greeted her and helped her to find what she needed in 20 mins. Highly recommend if you are looking for your next pair of running kicks.

I train at The Training Studio and Ken Combs was highly recommended by everyone. I’ve never been much of a runner and haven’t had anyone’s help buying shoes in a long time. I went in near close one day because it was the only time I could go, and the person helping me that day was someone I knew from TS. I told him I was interested in the running club and that my other shoes were hurting my feet. He took measurements, looked at the structure of my feet, and then brought out multiple pairs he thought would be a good fit. I tried them all and settled on the Brooks Adrenaline ones. They had my size, but only in a brighter color, so they took a special order for more neutral ones and let me know asap when they were in. No one was other bothered or rushy about me being in the store that late which I appreciate. I try not to be “that” person, but I was and they certainly didn’t make me feel like it. I was able to pick up my shoes when I had the time to get back to the store and they were again very friendly. I know there’s a bunch of good small shoe stores in Louisville, but I’ll definitely be coming back here for shoes and other athletic needs. Makes me feel good to support local and get treated well rather than taking a shot in the dark at a big chain retailer or ordering online.

Great store ....staff (Aaron) was very helpful and knowledgeable about the products I was interested in (nutrition gels, running belt). Will visit again for sure

First time here and was a great experience. I am a nurse who works 12 hour shifts and needed something to wear so my feet wouldn't be so sore. Matt was the person who helped me and he was extremely nice and helpful. He mapped my feet with a thermal pad and recommended 3-4 shoes. I went with Hooka Bondi 8. I'll be back when I need new shoes for sure.

I only stopped in to browse and try on shoes that I was looking to buy online. I don't generally buy from them because they act like I'm going to steal something whenever I go in there. But the sales person, also a person of hispanic heritage, treated me with respect and like I had money to spend - which I did. She worked hard to find me the right size so I ended up buying two pairs of Hokas. There was some other staff guy creeping around, pretending to work but the shoes fit, I liked them and her service was outstanding so I broke my rule and bought from them.

I’ve been coming here for a while. Brought my daughter here and everyone was amazingly happy and helpful. Patrick really listened to her , knew his products well (style years & models) & helped her find running shoes of which she likes the fit & feel! Even chatted about races & race fuel too!
