Recommended for blind dates, family with children, acquaintances that admire planes. This venue is located perfectly for patio dining where patrons can enjoy the take off and landing of various aircraft. Children are kept amused while waiting for dinner. If conversation lags there is often an aircraft to discuss. The waitstaff is friendly, the food arrived cooked as requested, the drinks kept topped off, and there were plenty of aircraft to discuss. Not recommended for those with anaphylaxis food allergies. Very interesting venue to visit. Children highly enjoyed the aircraft.

Been going to this restaurant well over 15 years and it never disappoints. Food is superb! Service impeccable. Anthony, the owner, and his wife never sit down. They make sure you are well attended to. Such a treat to eat here ! It's an experience not just a meal. Highly recommend

French dining at its finest. The BEST french restaurant in Louisville, better yet, in all of KY. Everything was super flavorful and the wait staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. The atmosphere is perfectly romantic and the decor is equally amazing.

Such a great environment. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was unlike any other. The wait staff was very friendly. If you enjoy good food and airplanes, this is the place to go. It was pretty busy so the servers didn’t come back to the table as often as I’d like, but it was still an amazing experience. Will definitely be returning frequently to enjoy my evenings.

Wonderful art deco atmosphere that brings you back in time. Excellent food; it helps if you can read a bit of French, the the menu is American with a few French dishes. Good wine selection. Great service, but do not expect fast service. It is more in the European tradition of leisurely dining.

Really awesome spot, you get to watch the airplanes at Bowman Field from the back patio, while enjoying dinner. And good drinks, good and service.

Super cool place tucked away at Bowman Field. Was seated on the back patio and able to watch small planes and helicopters take off. Food was great as well! Worth the stop for a special occasion.

Le Relais (or the Relay) name dates back to what essentially was an early name for a place to stop and change out your horses, get a snack, take a nap, and head back out. So it makes sense it is in an airport terminal. However, I suspect unlike ‘le Relais’ from long ago, this is an up-scale high-end French restaurant.

My wife and I make reservations for a Friday night and got what I suspect is one of last times for the night (7:15p). We arrived about 5 minutes early and were immediately greeted when we walked in the front door. There is no ‘lobby’, I suspect to maximize table count, you are in the dining area as soon as you step in. The place was very busy. The greeter seated us immediately and our experience began…

Unlike other recent reviewers, we were immediately served by our bus boy with water and then moments later, our waiter, Jered, greeted us and brought menus. We ordered drinks and then with my indecision, a couple of visits later from Jered, we ordered.

French onion soup, half-caesar salad and scallops for me, caesar and filet for her. Soup was border line on temperature, luke-warm, but the soup that engorged the crustini was still hot. I suspect that is a sign it sat a bit too long before they brought to me but it was hot in the kitchen, flavor was decent, nothing earth shattering. I would suggest skipping the french onion soup. Salads were good, lots of flavor, partly from anchovies which were in tiny pieces so you would hardly know they were there, but they bring the flavor. The scallops were amazing. Maybe the best I have ever had. The sides (broccolini mix and risotto) they were paired with were so-so, the raspberry reduced sauce was pretty bland and no real detectible raspberry notes from my palet. I think that sauce failed to elevate the dish as it was needed. The filet had a wine-reduction glaze which I think (I stole a bite from my wife) took away from the flavor of the filet some and I also think it was slightly over-cooked, but good none the less. Sides on that plate (potatoes and asparagus were solid wins). We did order the soufflé dessert and the tiramisu. If you like warm sweet creme things, you will love the soufflé (which I did). The tiramisu was light but full of flavor and just wonderful really. Then, my cappuccino arrived and the pairing with the tiramisu was like another level of experience all by itself. Skip the coffee, get the cappuccino, it was $2 more and you can thank me later.

All in all the experience was very good. The staff was great, the food was very good. I just think for $200 (after tip) for two people it just didn’t meet the bar for me. Just not enough wow factor for the price. Maybe other dishes are their best. Better filets can definitely be had at other local establishments. The scallops and desserts and cappuccino were by far the big wins for me.

I gave 5 stars, but they would be a 4.5 based on the wow factor to price ratio. We will go back someday, as it definitely is a unique place and worth a visit.

Are you kidding! This place is amazing. I would have had more photos but I ate the soup and crab cake too quickly. The food is amazing. Specials and regular menu items are always wonderful. Great ambiance. Great service. Very French and laid back. We’ve been coming here for years and plan on coming back for many more!

Came here for an anniversary dinner. We sat outside on the patio to watch the planes take off. Our server, Amy, was attentive and helpful. The cocktails were fine, but their wine selection is extensive and impressive. We started off with the crab cake and enjoyed it thoroughly. We recommend th starter to anyone dining there. We shared the chevre salad and enjoyed as a little palate cleanser and veggie break. We ended up splitting the scallops, which blew us away with the cohesive flavors of the ratatouille, the risotto, and the scallops. Everything was divine and delicious. We can't wait to come back and try more.

Le Relais has the best atmosphere in the city located in the Bowman Field airport! They have a wonderful outdoor patio where you can watch the planes take off and land.

Alcohol is served at Le Relais, however, they do not have a bar with stools. They are table service only.

Le Relais shares their parking lot with Bowman Field. The parking lot is free and there is plenty of parking. This is a perfect location for an event.

One of our favorite places to celebrate life events or just enjoy a lovely evening. Excellent staff, the vibe is just like in France, no rush, enjoy the food, great conversations, excellent cocktails. Everything on the menu is so tasty and delivered with good humor and class. Best French food in Louisville and the care that the owner shows makes this place top notch.

First time visiting this place and it was absolutely delightful. Our server was excellent and knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. Since this was for a birthday, we fully indulged. I am hesitant to order calamari as it is so rarely done well, but it is one of my husband's favorite appetizers. The calamari here was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. For our main dishes, we had scallops and the pork chop. The scallops were cooked perfectly and the mushroom risotto was a lovely accompaniment. The pork chop is possibly the best pork chop I've ever had, and my only disappointment with that ratatouille is that there wasn't more. The scallops is a slightly smaller dish so I shared my enormous pork chop with my husband, so keep that in mind when ordering. We finished the meal with the chocolate mousse and creme brulee. Both were very well done, but very straightforward. I've had as good versions elsewhere. The next time I would like to try the souffle. The cost is quite high and thus will be relegated to special events, but I would not be disappointed if I were taken here.

RESERVATIONS or you better be skilled at sweet talking the owner in to allowing you inside! Delicious dinner! Great service in a romantic lit, Art Deco setting. Enter Le Relais through the Bowman Field Lobby.
Thank you beyond words for squeezing me in to a packed place! Next time..RESERVATIONS

It was our special dinner and I have to say it was outstanding! Will start from the very beginning: the host was very welcoming and paying attention to details (and we got a flavor of France with a beautiful accent). Our waiter was very patient and remembered all small things we have asked. The entire service was great!
Now about most important thing: the food was delicious! We got Chevre salad and the combination of the fried goat cheese and salad and souce was fabulous. I would highly recommend to try stuffed onion (even my husband who doesn't like onion have tried it) It is a huge compliment to a chief!! The main course of the trout and scallops was sooo good! Bravo to the chief!
We would definitely come again and once our friend visit us in Louisville -it is a must for us to share with them our experience! Thank you Le Relais!

We took our friend here for her birthday dinner and it was fantastic! The charcuterie board, crab cake, and escargot starters were all superb. I got the lamb entree and it did not disappoint! But the highlight for me was the souffle they had on the specials list, I was absolutely blown away!!! This is a great restaurant for any occasion, but the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion for sure.

Our favorite restaurant in Louisville! Delicious food and FANTASTIC service. The owner always has great wine recommendations and the atmosphere is amazing, inside and especially outside watching the planes at sunset (when the weather is nice). Many leisurely evenings spent here with great food and great company

Classically trained kitchen and wait staff ensure that everything is done to perfection. For the quality of food and service, the prices are more than reasonable.

My partner Mark and myself had the pleasure of dinner at Le Relais last night. We were celebrating an anniversary. We opted to sit outside and watched the small planes fly in and out of Bowman field while leisurely enjoying a couple very well-crafted cocktails. A charcuterie board followed drinks and we had the opportunity to chat for a minute with Amy, our server, one of the smiling faces of the restaurant. She was an absolute delight and we felt welcomed and well taken-care of. Our steaks were beautifully cooked and when we had a small emergency at home Amy was able to expedite the entrees and facilitate a smooth and quick exit. Overall we would rate this restaurant higher than five stars, the service, ambiance and food quality went above and beyond expectations. Bravo to the ENTIRE staff from the host to the server and from the assistant server to the bartender. Well done and we will be back and also send guests staying at our B&B to enjoy this wonderful experience!
