The Salvation Army Family Thrift Store

This place is awesome. It's comparable to the salvation army in Dallas which is super too. I've been having a hard time finding a thrift store year that has a great selection but this place hit the spot. It's always nice to go to a thrift store that has sales too because everybody loves a bargain!

In 1852 in England, William Booth and his wife Catherine were inspired by the gospel of Jesus Christ to leave the church and take their ministry to the streets. They abandoned the concept of the traditional church pulpit in favor of preaching directly to the people most in need. Despite the disapproval of the church, Booth took his ministry to the poor, the homeless, the hungry, and the destitute. After training evangelists all over England, the couple returned to the west end of London in 1875 and formed their organization, the Christian Mission. In 1878 while reading the annual report for the Christian Mission he noticed the phrase "The Christian Mission is a volunteer army." William Booth crossed out volunteer army and replaced it with salvation army. From then on converts became soldiers of Christ or Salvationists. The groups message spread quickly and today they serve over 100 countries.

The Salvation Army has churches throughout the world called Salvation Army corps but they are probably best known for their thrift stores. When items are purchased at the stores the money supports the Salvation Army's emergency relief efforts and programs. Unlike a lot of businesses the Salvation Army will hire ex felons. Some of the shops support the Adult Rehabilitation Centers which help people combat addiction. When you donate to or buy from the Salvation Army you are helping to support many worthwhile programs.

I discovered this Salvation Army Thrift Store next door to Mounts Botanical Garden. It is huge and well organized and is much nicer than other Salvation Army stores I have been in. In the front of the store they have a little Christmas shop set up and a lot of people were picking up inexpensive decorations. They also sell small appliances, clothes, furniture, toys, accessories, and house hold goods. If you like to save money and want to help the planet by reusing items, think thrift!

Their prices are still a bit steep for secondhand items. But worth a look

The place is terrific! And I encourage everyone to take the challenge..
And that challenge is to simply walk in, and take a good look around at what they have..
You will find NO pushy sales people, or insane prices you normally find at other stores.
It’s completely laid back no pressure, if you leave with nothing? It’s no big deal..
Then to finish to challenge, go into a different store selling brand new items
And see the difference..
If you really think about it, a brand new item is considered used the second you take it out of the box.
And my used furniture I got there for only $10
Has passed the test of time.
And replaced my new $120 pieces of furniture I got only 2 years ago because it broke.

Michelle was an extraordinary seller. She accommodated us, explain the value of the furniture that I was interested. Very pleasant lady and knowledgeable.

Well organized. Friendly staff. Much larger than the Kirk Rd. store. Lots of space for furniture. Both have great prices.

This place was very nice. It was well ordered and clean and the staff were very sweet and helpful. The prices were very reasonable. I ended up with six pairs of pants and a designer purse for 30 bucks . Also saw a lot of designer merchandise .

Customers are treated royally, even though this is a thrift store! I've tried numerous thrift stores in the past and for the last year I only shop here. Any of the Personnel can answer questions but Bonnie is my favorite. Tony was my favorite also, an extremely hard-working person, especially personable, and a pleasure to deal with. Unfortunately he passed recently and what a loss for this store. What a huge loss for everyone who knew him. Tony was a really big guy and his heart gave out. My son, a really big guy too, passed in 2012 from an enlarged 💓. We are not promised tomorrow. Please if you're on the heavy side, like I am, and they were see a cardiologist. Dr. Mohanty in West Palm Beach Is the best you can get! God bless

This location has a lot of upscale furniture and paintings. Prices are reasonable and there are discounts on Wed and Friday. You can also leave a donation or have it picked up.

Wednesday is discount day for seniors but without being old enough they have other incredible deals for you. Really nice people working the store as well!
