Big John's Eatery

We ordered takeout for brunch on the beach and the food was still very yummy! Big John was there to greet customers at the door and was very friendly and cool. The food came out still very good and crispy even though we waited to eat (even changed my girlfriend’s opinion on grits). The only negative I could think of is that it took around 15 mins to get our food, but we didn’t mind and there’s some areas to sit around outside and chill. Overall really good!!! 5 stars

I'm from Mass and I come down here to work Jan-April and this is where I go eat every Sun! Sometimes I eat in and get extraordinary service or take out. Either way, this place is Amazing. I love so many dishes here but my fave is the oxtails and grits!! The grits are well seasoned and creamy and the oxtails are tender and off the bone delicious! People, do yourself a favor and eat here bc u will not be disappointed. 5 stars for real😍

Best breakfast I have ever eaten!!

I Googled breakfast restaurants near me and found Big John's Eatery. I ordered the breakfast bowl with grits. It had scrambled eggs, cheese, bacon and sausage. The grits are to die for!! The service was outstanding. The staff are friendly and really sweet. You feel welcomed as soon as you walk in. John walked the dining room and introduced himself and spoke with everyone, told us a little about the place. Overall an excellent experience. Great food, reasonable prices. I will definitely be back for more.

This is an incredible example of the new Americana-Southern eatery. The customers are happy, the employees are happy and the owners are proud. You can’t ask for more. Great food and incredible grits! Oxtail and shrimp dishes are excellent.

We went to Big John's Eatery on a Sunday for breakfast with my family. We had the chicken and waffles (with tenders and quarters), the French toast and my husband had the Florida boy, with the hash brown casserole and a pancake on the side. I opted for the all day mimosas (the cranberry was my favorite, however, the passion fruit is the house favorite). I'm not sure why people complained of how long the food takes to come out, because we didn't notice as we were submerged in conversation. The food was good (in my opinion) and our server Aria (hopefully I spelt her name correctly 😊) was a whole vibe!! I will definitely ask for her whenever we eat there. She was pleasant, friendly and professional all at the same time. She gave great suggestions and even helped me secretly ordered the bottomless mimosa 🤭. We will definitely be visiting them again.

This was our first time at the restaurant. Alyssa (apologies if i misspelled) was our waitress. It was a small little place, but the atmosphere was excellent. Alyssa was very accommodating and patient with us. The drinks and food, though... Yum!! My friends got mimosas, which were delicious. I did the Florida Boy meal with scrambled eggs, diced potatoes, bacon and biscuits. I ate every bit of it. Beyond scrumptious. I don't know what they put on the potatoes, but it just elevated the whole thing. And they had honey on the biscuits! Would absolutely recommend.

The food was worth the hour ish wait today. I viewed the menu ahead of time. I was torn between the breakfast bowl, and the biscuit and gravy. I ended up ordering the breakfast bowl and did a side of biscuit and gravy. The biscuit, it was not dry and a perfect complement with the gravy. While we were the the owner came in and chatted with each table. That was a nice touch to the experience. We will definitely go again, but maybe during the week when it is less busy.

The food was awesome and hot! We enjoyed our visit and we appreciate the accommodation for a party of 4 when they were about to close. If you were planning to come for the oxtail n grits, be sure to call before coming to make sure aren’t sold out. I called and the staff was really nice even over the phone. Arrived at a perfect time especially for social distancing.The presentation of every dish was just the way you see it on their website. If you live far don’t go there just for one plate, try as many as you can LOL. Everything was great the grits for the oxtails were seasoned well. My favorite dish was the French toast with peach and oatmeal crumbs. It was very flavorful, mouthwatering 😊. Thank you staff & Big John

Every time I come here the customer service and the food has been great. I try a new dish every time I come and I am never disappointed, no matter if I come for breakfast or brunch. Definitely a favorite for breakfast and brunch.

My first time eating here and the atmosphere was GREAT 🥰 Me and my son order salmon & grits but received shrimp and grits. Now I ate a scoop of grits and one shrimp it wasn’t bad, it was to much seasoning, so I had to throw it away. My daughter love the Florida boy and my son ate all his shrimp and grits THE BOTH LOVE Big Johns Breakfast and we will be back just give me less seasoning! I still give you 5 ⭐

As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the owner and didn't even know. He is such a warm person, you just want to hug him (I did). Big John has done great for himself with this quaint little spot. Very clean might I say and the servers are great to make it even better. You can tell he makes it enjoyable to work here. The food...WHEW! It was 5 of us and no one of us had a issue with our food, in fact we made plans to come back for the oxtail and grits...we will definitely be back to support BIG JOHN.

The food here is so good, the owner is so nice, the service wasn’t bad but the wait time was very long. We waited over an hour. But the food made up for the wait. I just wish the establishment was bigger. I think that big John’s eatery needs to expand.

This is SOULFUL breakfast for sure. The best grits I have EVER had. The weekend breakfast menu has some really yummy options. We got the peach cobbler French toast, the Florida Fat Boy, a BLT, chicken wings and the best by far OXTAIL with grits. You gotta try this if you’re in the area!

My partner and I have visited Big John's multiple times in the last year. Every time we go, we make it a point to order something new. We have never been disappointed. From the grilled chicken club to the signature Ox tail and grits, everything tastes amazing.
Wait staff is always so fun and attentive. We always have the best conversations. The owner is a really cool guy who obviously loves what he serves.
I recommend this place to anyone. 10/10.

This is 100% my favorite spot now. They do not miss with a single dish. I don’t even like grits, but I order them every single time I come here. The oxtail grits are genuinely one of the best dishes I’ve ever eaten. The peach cobbler French toast is also a staple for me. I come here as often as I can. Big John is very personable and always makes sure to say hi to customers and thank them for coming. He needs to open up in EVRY big city

The food and experience was extremely amazing. I had the oxtail and grits plus the chicken / red velvet waffles..Arie the server was amazingly pleasant and sweet..I will definitely be back. You have a loyal customer now.

First time visiting this morning with my husband and was pleasantly greeted by Big John himself. My husband ordered the salmon and grits and I got oxtail and grits which were both excellent!! We aren't from the area, but if we're ever in the area we will be sure to visit again!

Loved this place stopped for brunch. I got the salmon and grits added the savory chicken sausage and shrimp w/ a couple mimosas. My girlfriend got the french toast. The waitress was great I complimented the chef idk if it was the drinks or what but I had a GREAT TIME 😭 Will definitely return!
