Today, VA is a 5 star. For the first time I was able to checkin and place a travel pay claim in by phone (new features), at the same time. ON MY PHONE!

My husband had surgery at this hospital on 8/1/23. The care he received was excellent. I should have kept a detailed list of all the people that were part of his care. Dr. Adamson was the surgeon and we are so thankful for him. Jim Donahue and Nurse Lee from Dr Adamson's staff were very helpful. In Recovery, the nurse's name was Princess. She was so kind to my husband and to me as well. We were sent to the 9th floor and I don't know if y'all know it, but the nurses there are ANGELS! Agnes Musonera is possibly the sweetest person that I have met. She gave TOP SHELF nursing care, but she was concerned about me as well. Nursing Supervisor Examay Marjorie is a wonder. Nurse Maureen went above and beyond on the day we were released by helping us to our car so that my husband didn't have to wait for assistance while he sat in his wheelchair. We were so thankful for each and every person that helped us. I know I didn't get all the names of the people that cared for my husband but I want everyone to know that we genuinely appreciate all that you did.

I was in a car accident last week. I went to Piedmont ER in McDonough, I was waiting over 3 hours when I decided to come to the VA. The moment I walked in the staff was very helpful on directing me to the front desk. The nursing staff was incredible as well. Kept me informed, kind and patience. People tend to always speak on the negative but never on the positive. Thank you for everything.

I’ve been to the ER twice within the last two months and each time I will have to say that I’ve received amazing care. I was triaged right away and then given a room were all my test were also done very quickly. My only negative thing I would say about this VA hospital is how the pharmacy is handled. You have to go to one window to check in then wait 30 mins and come back up to another window to get your meds when the doctor had already called them in hours prior. Over all I got rid of my private insurance to come over to the VA and so far I am very pleased.

I recently spent 4 days in the VA Hospital. I know that the VA's reputation is not the best, but what I experienced with the entire team; the doctors, the nurses, the technical support, and even food services was superb. They all created an atmosphere for healing.
Was everything perfect? Of course not. But the effort was. Thanks to my Atlanta VA Medical Center.

My brother has been treated at the VA, for cancer, over the last three years. His care has been nothing short of amazing! There have been a few times we've had to wait a while, but when it was his tern he was given the time he needed, not rushed through. Doctors, PAs, Nurses, Technicians, Volunteers, all have been efficient , professional, and compassionate.
My brother is now in remission for two types of cancer, and the third is under control.
The VA has been a blessing to our family!

This is the second time today that I am writing a review for very deserving people at your hospital. Please don't erase this one.
My mission this morning was to return a very valuable tablet to the 6th floor of the hospital. I had an appointment to meet someone from TeleHealth. Apparently, the TeleHealth Office was moved. I was bouncing back and forth knocking on doors looking for assistance. One of the doors I knocked on was for "Supervisors", but I got no help from the woman who answered the door. Thank God I knocked on the door of PFCC. Dara took me inside and worked for 40 minutes trying to find a TeleHealth representative to take the tablet. Everyone she spoke with on the phone passed her off to someone else (like a football). The entire PFCC Office came to my rescue and they all worked with Dara to help me. PFCC has great leadership and employees who really care about veterans. Dara ensured that the precious tablet would be secured until someone physically comes to work and retrieves it. I ask that the Hospital Director visit all the wonderful people in the PFCC Office on the 6th Floor and give all of these fine professionals a word of encouragement and a sincere pat on the back for a job well done. Thank you, Dara, for caring enough to help me this morning. I offer a special "thank you" to Dara's supervisor and co-workers. PFCC reflects great credit on The Atlanta VA Hospital and the entire Veterans Administration.
Sincerely,
Philip A. Caterina

I love the VA Medical Center. I have been a member at the VA for over 20 + years. I am in a clean bill of health overall. My doctor is great, and she responds to all of my needs as soon as she can. Yes. The parking can be full at times, but I always find space. I am grateful for the VA because it is free health care and it doesn't get any better than that. They are also now paying the medical bill if you happen to not make it to there hospital. Anyway, I pray for all veterans, and I am glad to be a veteran. GOD bless the VA and the staff.

I was impressed with my last service. Things were moving although I was there for long time - the process was smoother than the past. The staff were courteous and professional. My visitation time was with the 6pm to midnight staff.

I went to Dekalb Emory in Decatur not feeling good at all. They triage me and found that my blood pressure was 175/120 and heart rate at 147 they sent me back to the waiting area with no medical treatment after waiting. 8 hours. I finally left the next morning I went to the VA Hospital Atlanta and was triage for the same thing. I immediately received the medical attention I needed and was admitted to the hospital for further treatment. My stay at this hospital was excellent. My nurse Mike in the emergency room was so caring. The nurses on the second floor great. Takiri and Takema nothing but great and caring service.

Just transferred from California to Georgia and my experience with this hospital so far has been outstanding. Staff is professional and gave us hungry ones a sack lunch. I was able to make appointments on my own without referrals from primary care. The only way I could get inside hospital was to go thru E.R. I had to think of something cuz I needed meds and I got them.

I’ve avoided ever using my VA insurance because of stories I heard of bad experiences. I’ve read the reviews and heard the gossip from their employees. But my personal experience was very different, i am thankful I can use this healthcare and I’m thankful for the effective efforts that I witnessed at this facility.

This VA saved my life. Heart attack, went to Dublin-Totally worthless VA there.Sent by ambulance to This VA (Decatur) 2 stents later I have been back at work for 5 years.Fell off ladder just recently, quick surgery (successful) And back at work again.
Very busy VA at Decatur, I am amazed they see so many patients in a day.
Yes parking is a deal but well worth the hassle. They all do a great job and I cannot complain.Be nice to them, look what the nurses, doctors and support staff have to deal with. Waiting in line is only because of the volume they deal with.

While there have been times we (my Father and I) have had to wait past the appointment, time there was usually a good reason for it and they were on top of it. I can say with good conscious that the staff at both the Atlanta Veterans Hospital and the Blairsville Ga Clinic are the most caring, affectionate medical people I have ever encountered,
We have been going to both facilities for over 10 years so this review is formed from many visits. Nothing is perfect and when servicing this many people things will get a bit hectic sometimes. Just be patient- the end result is worth it.
My Dads life has been saved several times due to the care he has received and our family is so grateful for the VA system.

The EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT needs improvements as far a wait time in the E\R for my husband was in the E\R for 9 Hrs due limited staff and you could sense in the atmosphere,Once he got in a room in the ER the staff was great! the wait time is just awful, and if you have patients experiencing chest pain,SOB,and Profuse sweating that patient should be Priority not check them in place a arm band on him and ask him to wait in the waiting room and sits in there as long as he can until the pain increase and goes a communicates this to the nurse then he's taken back .This has to get better.
Once he was transported to the 10th floor the staff was terrific..were grateful....

On Aug.3rd. I woke up with a heart attack,My wife drove me to the VA hospital E.R. they immediately went to work saving my life.In no time they had a blood test done that showed that I was in fact having a heart attack, and got me right in to the operating room to do an angioplasty and install stints. In the intensive care unit I was treated like royalty, and when I was transferred to a regular room the care was just as amazing. The after care has been just as good. I spent my birthday in the hospital, and the staff brought me a special birthday meal, and a nice piece of cake, and they all wished me a happy birthday. God bless the Dr.s and the staff at the VA.I have been receiving all my medical care from the VA since I retired,I love my primary care physician, and the nurse practitioners that occasionally see me. If you come in acting like an entitled jerk, that is how you will be treated. If you come in polite, and grateful, you will be lavished with great treatment.

My husband has been in the hospital twice, been thru ER twice and he was treated with greatest of respect and care. I am sure he would not have received the care and concern in a private hospital. I cannot praise the doctors, nurses, aids and Everyone that we came in contact with enough. I am a firm believer that if you ask anyone about any hospital around you will get complaints. Thank you VA Hospital for taking care of my husband so well and also taking care of my needs.
