Moonie's Texas BBQ

I travel across state lines for this Barbeque. I'll put them up against anyone in the state. The brisket is next level. Perfect amount of smoke with all the right seasonings. Melt in your mouth good. Their jalapeño mac in cheese will make your eyes roll. So creamy, and not spicy, but just the hints of pepper flavor that you get really send it over the top. They have a creamed corn that is off the chain too. I don't know what they do to it, but it is incredible. They have a good selection of house made sauces too. The carolina mustard is my favorite. Any time I'm in town, I go out of my way to eat here. HIGHLY recommend.

I have dine in only once it was pleasant... our go to is to pick up a couple pounds of brisket, maybe some slaw... sides of sauce, pickles, a bun or two and eat at a slow pace at home...
I've been in GA a long time, traveled through the south at length... if I want brisket I will not go anywhere else for it... period.

This is our favorite BBQ joint. My daughter loves it so much she always wants their Brisket for special occasions - even wants her birthday here next year 😄
The food is delicious, the staff is always friendly and it's always clean.
Everything we've had from here is great but their beans are better than anywhere else we've had. Definitely would recommend to anyone if youre in the area !

Great job. The pulled pork was very tasty. I never even added the sauce. I also enjoyed the Jalapeño mac and cheese. My husband thought the brisket was great. Definitely a place to go if you are wanting BBQ. The kids enjoyed the fried okra.

My new favorite Texas style BBQ in Georgia! 4 trips within 3 weeks, do I need to say more? Lol. This place steals away our business from Foxes Brothers BBQ, Heirloom, and Community Q (they are all excellent choices). Much better location for folks live in Johns Creek or Duluth. My friends and I love the smoke pork ribs, sausage, brisket, and chicken - awesome flavor and yet tender. Highly recommended!

Visited Moonie's today for the first time and it did not disappoint! Easily my favorite bbq place in Metro Atlanta. The brisket was fantastic. My wife had the pulled pork and it also was fantastic. Friendly staff, great food and absolutely worth the wait. Don't want to wait? Can call ahead for pickups. Try it and thank me later :)

This was my first time dining at this BBQ restaurant. The prices were reasonable for the serving sizes. The beef brisket was melt in your mouth delicious and the fried okra was perfect. I was there right before the dinner rush and parking was plentiful but the parking lot was full when I left. There is overflow parking available at nearby businesses after those businesses close for the day.

Y’all this place was off the charts amazing!! I live in FL and here to visit and it’s by far the BEST Pulled Pork and Brisket I’ve had ever ! A must try for sure and I will be coming back for sure . Great staff friendly and helpful. Overall clean environment and the sauces are to die for . Thanks so much

Best beef brisket sandwich around. They cut the brisket in front of you and put it on a bun. I drive out of my way to go there for lunch. $6 and some sauce of your choice. I prefer to dine in and eat it hot, still dripping from the pan. Take a bite, then a little sip of sauce from the souffle cup. Bbq harmony. That's why I said try to sit down and eat the brisket and enjoy it. It's not a burger from a fasty.

This place is my absolute FAVORITE BBQ. The Brisket is The Bomb! The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and friendly. I was offered suggestions by one of the staff members, Jessie. Everything is delicious. Definitely HIGLY recommend.

As a BBQ hunter in every area I travel, I don't say lightly that this is one of the better (if not best) places I've been over the past 30yrs. Been to Texas, NC, TN, GA, SC, VA, ST. Louis, and New Orleans, and parts in between for BBQ.

The pulled pork was moist and had the perfect crusty char and medium smoke. They blend the mix just right with chunk, shred, outside and inside meat.

Brisket was very tasty, but a touch dry. However dry, it was extremely tender and took sauce very well, which nullified the naked dryness it started with. The beef flavor and smokiness came through the sauce with perfect balance.

I tried their signature sides according to staff recommendations: jalapeño mac & cheese, and baked beans, plus I always get cole slaw because it varies so much from place to place. I am usually not impressed by mac because I make mine like Lady & Sons in Savannah (I worked there for a few years in the early 2000s) and it is pretty down-home perfect. BUT, this one was delicious in it's own right. Just enough minced jalapeño to give it a little smoky zip without the need to cool off after multiple bites. Elbow pasta was cooked al dente with an off-white creamy cheese blend that had a just sharp-of center cheesiness. No stringiness, but that is a chef's choice IMHO. I like mac either way.

Beans were ah-MAZE-ing! They had a touch of actual cinnamon apples blended in, along with a heavier molasses presence. Not meaty, didn't matter. I was impressed by the result of the variation that I haven't seen before. Nicely done.

Cole slaw was shredded then minced, Perfect texture. I prefer mine a little more on the creamy side, but the flavor was complex and I didn't mind that it was not very saucy. It contrasted the beans and mac in that way pretty well. It had a touch of celery seed and sweetness without pickle, and no spice or pepperiness. It was vsry good, but would have been A+ if a little bit creamier.

Regarding the atmosphere, it is a small place (of course) with a great porch to sit on and plenty of booths and tables inside. You order at the counter and pick a seat after getting your choice of 4 sauces, pickle & onion condiment bar, plasticware and self-serve drinks. It is a non-descript grey painted wooden interior that is very back-porch BBQ shed feeling. They have various hot sauces to use, but the standard 4 BBQ sauces they offer were perfect. They have Carolina Gold, Texas Red (hickory smoke with a touch of spice), Georgia Sweet (similar to NC vinegar based with celery seed and sweetness, but it was red as well), and a Spicy Sauce which was just below jalapeño hot sauce heat. I liked the Texas best because of the balance.

Staff was friendly and helpful.

I stopped in for a quick lunch and was not disappointed! Their brisket not only looks great, but is very tender and flavorful. I really enjoyed their BBQ sauce, and had an overall pleasant experience.

Absolutely love their jalapeño Mac n cheese. Want a dang good brisket sandwich, go here.

First time here - Brought the Texas family.. wow! We all agreed best brisket ever! What better compliment than empty plates…. Put in a bar and some Texas Country music and we would be back again and again

Absolutely delicious, corn could have been better but only compared to the chicken, which was incredible.

Some of the best BBQ I've had in a really long time. The Brunswick Stew is to die for and the Banana Pudding is so good you'll go home and smack your mama for not making it that good!

Spectacular BBQ! We had the pulled pork and brisket both were delicious. The sides were Bake Beans, Slaw, Potato Salad, and Brunswick Stew and were all very tasty! I placed a to go order and paid online early morning for a 5:30pm pickup. When I arrived the place was packed and I stepped around to the register and was handed my order which was 100% accurate and I was quickly on my way. I highly recommend Moonie's for both eat in and takeout.
