I grew up in southeastern New Mexico. I don’t go to Mexican food places outside of NM, mostly because it is more Mexicali or Texmex. My friends mothers growing up spoiled me on Mexican food. Since moving to Baton Rouge, I have not had good Mexican food. However, Taqueria Valdez is the exception to the rule. I had the enchiladas, my wife had the flautas, and we shared a couple of tamales. I do not eat restaurant tamales as a rule, but I was craving it. The pork Tamale tastes like something made in Tia Juana’s house. They are fantastic and HUGE! The enchiladas were really good and the refried beans were like home. The salsa has just enough bite. My wife says the flautas were exceptional as well. This is an oasis of traditional Mexican flavor!! Gracias por el almuerzo, fue fantástico!

Spanish shopping center, very polite, friendly people, great food, and you can drink the water, American's were told when you go to Mexico not to drink the water because it gave you the runs. Please to let you know that 90 percent of Spanish people that I have worked with and met throughout my years are hard working, honest, and trying to accomplish what our great country was built and founded on , the American Dream, to be free, safe place to raise their children ,, healthy, work , etc. . That's my opinion anyway!! Aka Google maps.

Great grocery store if you're looking for authentic Hispanic foods, but we went for the tacos! La Tiendita is a taqueria inside the grocery store and makes a killer taco. Hand made fresh tortillas with fresh ingredients! We are on a quest for the best and most authentic taco in Baton Rouge and we have found a contender!

Literally the BEST grocery store and restaurant. The waitress there (I can’t remember her name but I see her every time) is so so sweet and amazing!! She’s always very kind, patient, and helpful. It’s so cozy and one of my favorite places to go to when I want a peaceful, filling meal. Couldn’t recommend them more! :)

If you like spicy food (and I mean real spicy) - THE RED SALSA IS TO DIE FOR. I go in there once a week and order a large container of it.
The food is amazing too, I've only had a few things on the menu so far but everything I have tried has been incredible!

Just got some menudo takeout this morning. It was very good and I will definitely come back again. Never eaten here so I've never tried anything else they have but it all looked good when picking up. I actually got this at Taqueria Valdez that is next door. I assume they are both owned by the same folks. There is a hallway that connects one business to the other.

I highly recommend Valdez Market. I go there to get beef shanks for my two year old GSD she loves meat and bones and the butcher's are very knowledgeable butcher's and if you can not speak Spanish they always have someone to help you get whatever you need. Yes I highly recommend this family owned business.

Wonderful little store! I had forgotten to get carrots for my recipe that I was cooking & was hoping this little store had some frozen carrots Since it was so close to my house. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they have a small little fresh produce area and an excellent selection of meat. The steaks and roasts were to die for. Everyone was very friendly And I was out in a flash.

I also noticed that half of the store is a small Mexican restaurant. I plan on hitting that up really soon because I bet it’s excellent!

Good prices in a small easy-to-shop store. Good selections. I always find the avocados to be just right for ripening and taste.
Their "pork rinds" are excellent!
The staff is friendly and courteous, too.

They have lots of Hispanic brands, cheap vegetables and meats. They even have a butcher that will cut your meat how you want it. The taqueria aka mexican restaurant that is right beside is to die for🤌🏼

We went in for a specific item in the market and wound up eating at the restaurant connected to it.
Seriously, delicious, authentic mexican! Awesome choices, great prices and flavors that will have you begging to come back!

This place is great. I am referring to the grocery store. There is also a restaurant that I haven't tried yet. This place probably has the best Latino product selection in Baton Rouge.
