I like the Finely YMCA. Always very clean with a very nice facility and friendly staff. The members at this location clean up after themselves, put weights back, and wipe down the equipment when they are finished. I love the atmosphere and the energy I get when training here.

The gym can get very busy, and there will be lots of people. But I’ve never had a problem getting my workout done. Sharing equipment and asking someone if they would like to work in goes a long way.

Good times.

Love this location, I use it to go swimming and working out 3-4 times a week, the locker rooms are always tidy, the personnel are always super nice. My favorite part though is the childcare, my 3 year old loves it. It gives me the time I need to work out while knowing he’s well taken care of and having a blast. Website and app are a bit hard and clunky to find info at (or is it just me getting old?) but nothing that significantly detracts from the experience (also not the fault of the location).

I have been attending this particular Y on a regular basis for almost 20 years. I have always received respectful and helpful service. They have made every effort to maintain the place in good shape and the classes and services they offer, many of them free, are unmatched by any other similar private facility.

This place has changed my life!!!

I joined this Y back in June and haven't turned back since. The facility is clean and well maintained. If they are having any type of maintenance done they are good about emailing as a courtesy which always goes a long way.

They offer sooooo many different classes, it's something for everyone. Plenty of working equipment, nice indoor track, sauna, steam room and spacious locker rooms.

The staff: my absolute favorite part! Ya'll these people feel like home. So welcoming, kind and genuine. It's nice to chit chat with everyone and see smiling faces even on those days when you feel like you don't want to workout lol. Shoutout to Mrs. Judy, Brooke, Paula, Stephanie R., Jared, Lori A., etc. Literally everyone is wonderful-even the members!

I highly recommend this place to everyone! So thankful for my Y :)

A good gym facility, clean area, great staff up front from what I have seen every time I’ve gone, and good mix of people there. The staff I have seen is diverse at best. Understand that the wires differ according to their locations. I live in nowhere near the facility I go to but I attend it because it is the type of atmosphere that I would like to work out at. It also has other things that I can use to help a military veteran who are struggling.

Love this Y! The facilities have recently been updated and are super nice! All of the instructors are extremely helpful and explain the movements in the classes to make sure you are getting the maximum potential from your workout. Everyone is always very welcoming and friendly. I was previously a member of Lifetime and feel like I am getting the same value (minus some splash pads at the pool) for way less.

We started at the Finley Y for the pool during the initial summer of Covid. I'd bring my son every day during school track out. The staff, life guards and coaches are great. Attentive and positive. Since that experience we joined the Finley Flyers for summer swim and now my son is on the YOTA swim team. Not sure about masking in the gym / workout area but when I'm waiting for my son during practice I have mine on in the lounge and all other parents who are waited do as well.

I started going here roughly a year ago and I really like this gym. This Y has child care for up to 2 hours however it is not for all day. This isn't a complaint, it is just info. My son seems to have a good time in the playroom, which is stocked with lots of toys. As of January 2019 new weight lifting and cardio machines were installed.

The sports department is fantastic. We have done soccer for spring of ‘21, fall basketball of ‘21 winter basketball of ‘22, and onto soccer for spring ‘22. Darian, the sports director is fantastic and does a great job keeping everything organized. My kids have a blast and love to make new friends. When the mask mandate was going on, all the kids wore one, if one fell off during the game they would pause it for the kid to put it back on. I’m glad that the mandate is gone (dont care either way) but trying to run and play in a mask is no fun.

The best YMCA I’ve been to! I really enjoyed myself here for the first time, it’s a HUGE campus but wasn’t over crowded at all! The staff (everyone) was extremely professional and polite when I had a few questions. My daughter and nephew enjoyed themselves in the outdoor pool including a water slide, while I had a great workout in the building across the street, then they met me over in the indoor pool, afterwards, I enjoyed the Sauna room, then had hot tasty coffee on the way out! Plenty of space, showers, blow dryers, towels etc in the locker room, VERY CLEAN AND KEPT UP! I’m a member of the Hope Valley Farms Y in Durham and these people here COULD REALLY TEACH THEM SOME CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS. However I do love my Y too ❤

When I see some of the one star reviews it is pretty petty stuff... Canceling your membership because you saw a person without a mask on? You sound like the type of person that needs to get exercise equipment in your basement and never come out and be around people again. When I think of the generation of Americans that produced bravery at Normandy, and then I see the cowardice of people who can't even be around other human beings unless they can dictate and cover their face... pretty sad and cowardly stuff. Good job YMCA by not submitting to their Hitler like control to try to dehumanize others and cover up their face.

Me and my wife love the place! With a coed whirlpool, and hours starting at 5 am, we enjoy swimming plus many other indoor and outdoor activities.Just today with the threat of snow we both enjoyed a dip in the spa with 105-degree water jets and then took an hour swim in the indoor Olympic-sized pool with 83-degree water. I never noticed that it was 20 degrees outside until we left and just to top it off there is an outdoor Olympic-sized pool open from May to September.

A E Finley is very family focused providing a wide variety of care and programs for kids starting at a very young age. Their yoga teaches are top notch. The triathlon club is very supportive and a lot of fun. Pickup volley ball on Tuesday and Thursday evenings is a great game. The swimming pool is in excellent shape and well run. Swimming lessons for my girls have been enjoyable for all of us. Yes, there is some potential for overcrowding in the weight room, but if you are willing to use last years equipment (literally, they buy lots of new equipment annually) then it's very easy to get on the machines. You might have to go out of your preferred order, but it's doable without too much trouble. I've thoroughly enjoyed the fitness and community that the YMCA has provided for both myself and my family.

I love this place. Gentle yoga classes are awesome. However, I am so disappointed that they get rid of the whirlpool. It was so helpful after a long day at work to sit there. Anyway, I really like the new look of the locker room. Overall, this YMCA is very good.

Could not be more pleased with the Finley Y - children's programs, the gym, everything! We joined the Y in 2005 for the before and after school program for our child starting kindergarten. We have now had 2 children do before school, after school, and summer camps from age 5 to age 13+ and it has been fantastic (13 years now)! My older child works at the Y part time and has loved it. Our younger child was in a bad accident and was in a wheelchair for several months; the Y went above and beyond to help him, driving a wheelchair lift van to his school just for him! And through their fitness programs I've lost more than 50 pounds and am in the best shape of my life! The staff is always nice and helpful, the facility clean, and the childcare is second to none!

I have been actively attending the A.E. Finley YMCA since the mid 90's. From summer camps, and sports, to swimming lessons and normal routine workouts - this gym has it all, and is all about the people, Christian values, and the community.
