Still the same great place I recall as a child. I’m in my late 50s now. Crowd size does seem a bit smaller from days gone by. I was disappointed ti not find a souvenir tank top in my size. But no biggie. It was a wonderful time regardless. Reminiscing. Plenty of trinkets to choose from. And not to forget ask the fireworks you can dream of

If you're headed south or headed back up north. This little town of Pedro has everything and more. Have you ever seen in the movies those off the wall places people find while driving across the United States? This is one of them and I'm telling you it's a must. They have gift shops , restaurants, fireworks and all kinds of souvenirs that you can take home. There are restrooms on both sides of the street. There are indoor restrooms and even some outdoor ones. Cool statues to take pictures around or at. There are gas stations there. Trust me if you're traveling in that area and you see the sign that says Pedro's south of the border. Even if it takes you 20 minutes out of your route, stop in here. It's an awesome place to visit

While the overall impression seem a bit shady, this is a great place and must visit! First, the motel is very clean. It's dated with small sinks in the bathrooms, but that's part of the charm. The campground is very well kept and the Peddler restaurant, well, just ask the locals about the prime rib. Have fun with all the hats, take pics of Pedro and leave with some great memories.

My parents always have a disdain for this place, but I have discovered a newfound love for it in the past several years! 😍

I would definitely call this a tourist trap, but there's so much to do here that's totally worth your money! Five different places to get food, quite a few different stores, an arcade, a reptile lagoon with real crocodiles and alligators, and even a motel with both an indoor and outdoor pool!

Even better, everything was open on the 4th of July!

I'd say it's quite obvious that their heyday was a few decades ago, since they've had to remove a few buildings since then, but it's also just as obvious if you wander around that they are doing quite well for themselves!

Maybe it's the marketing with the huge, numerous billboards on Interstate 95!

Everyone who lives within a 200-mile radius of this place should definitely come here at least once!

Had a great time with my family as we stopped by. We had some delicious food, played arcade games and stopped in to shop, then topped off our stop with a visit at the Reptile Lagoon...

There's something for everyone. Between shopping food and games for the kids. We enjoyed the stop.

Yesterday on our way down to Hilton Head SC we decided to make a pit stop and our very first visit to South of the Border.
We have passed by this place a few times over the last few years but never thought about coming in to check out. On August 25, 3023 we finally pulled off the I-95 and we are happy that we took the time to check out this retro kits h wonderland of old buildings and fun shopping.
The main gift shop is filled with imported Mexican crafts and souvenirs. It also carries SOTB branded souvenirs to commemorate your visit here. There's everything from serapes, sombreros, pottery, and every other souvenir your heart desires. They also had a Christmas corner with unique decorations to put on your Christmas tree.
There are a few other gift shops scattered around the grounds for you to discover.

Great stop on the way to SC. My son loved all the animal statues to take pictures with. Offers several accommodations including gas station, hotel, restaurants, gift shops, and fireworks! Recommend stopping through especially if you have young children! Clean area and a good place to stop and stretch. It's a one stop shop. Only thing that would complete this stop if the rides were working. Even without them this is a great place to stop and recommend!

Despite the rainy weather, I couldn't resist getting out of the car and capturing photos of all the vibrant characters at South of the Border in South Carolina. The atmosphere was still lively and filled with colorful charm. We also explored the gift shop, which was impressively large and seemed to have everything imaginable. Despite the rain, our visit to South of the Border was a memorable experience with plenty of photo opportunities and a vast selection of items in the gift shop.

Cash only for some activities such as riding up the sombrero! But the kids loved it. This is straight out of a 1970s movie, in the best way. They appear to be making improvements, particularly to the motor lodge which has a lovely pool.

South of the Border 🇲🇽 🧡 we stopped here at 530 am on our way to Florida. Although it was closed the lights were so beautiful and bright, just how I always remembered them. I was so excited when we approached. It was My daughters first time there and my husbands as well! On our way home we stopped there again. This time we shopped and ate and took even more pictures. We bought so many souvenirs. I hear there is a hotel here and people actually vacation here. I'm definitely going to look into that. Thanks for the great memories SOTB!

Our favorite place to stop to and from Florida. We always run over to one of the shops, grab a bite to eat, and the bathrooms are always really clean.

I love this place. Its been a stop for our family since the 70's. As a kid I remember laughing at the funny billboards along the interstate.. You never Sausage a place...a sign I remember seeing in 1985. Nostalgic I guess.

The hotel is completely renovated. The food at the Sombrero Restaurant is really good too.
