Thunderbird Inn Florence

Excellent food and the price was $8.99 for buffet can't beat it. I ate too much, as I always do when the food is this good and buffet as well.
I will be back when in the area.

I said I would be back and have been a few times since writing that review. But today was the best time ever. Food was delicious as always. But today, 8 months later, I was beginning to be a little agitated because no one had been by to see what we wanted to drink. Then this very beautiful lady (Jenny), won't put her last name on the net, came in to work and asked me, what I would like to drink. Refilled of course and gave us cups to go.
Thank you Jenny- yes I WILL be back. 😉

Wow was this place great. The food was so good. When you arrive here it does not look like anything special. Staff was very courteous and prompt. And the food did I say it was good already. All you can eat of real southern cooking you won't be sorry.

I had been by here several times over the years on my way to beach. Returning from the beach several months ago decided to stop in and check out the buffet. It was the best fried chicken I have ever ate. The vegetables were all home cooked and seasoned to perfection. We decided to go again spend the night and have the breakfast buffet free with stay. Very good. clean room, great food. Looking forward to the next trip.

In the 1960s and 1970s, my family used to stop here as the halfway point between DC and Florida, and I decided to stop here overnight myself not long ago. The room was clean and nice. The pool was refreshing and open after dark. The room was quite reasonably priced and includes at no extra cost, the breakfast buffet in the morning, where the servers were quite pleasant and the buffet room was clean. I asked about it and the front desk said they allow pets. I think this is a fantastic value, and if it was this good when I was growing up, I can definitely see why my parents made this place a regular stop. I have no complaints, and indeed, consider this motel a hidden gem.

We had breakfast at the Thunderbird. It was good. They offered eggs cooked fresh any style. The corned beef hash was very good. The only problem we encountered was that the egg cooker vanished after our first eggs. Service was good.

Front desk agent, Dorothy, was extremely professional, congenital and offered great customer service. The room was clean and in good condition. It was quiet, and comfortable. There is a popular restaurant adjoining the lobby. Very convenient. I recommend this location.

We have been staying here for the last 5 years on our drives north and south. Great halfway point for us. Room are satisfactory and breakfast is good..great value ***update**under new ownership supposedly refurbished we spent last ( and our last time) night..absolutely terrible! Our room was disgusting afraid to even use toilet. If not for being exhausted we would have left..besides room being filthy..guest. in the next room had people coming and going all night. We caught a few hours shut eye then hightailed it out of there. A shame, we had stayed there for years on our trips North and south. Also no more complimentary breakfast.

I come from up North and i find the people Very Friendly , great breakfast buffet.. There lemonade was fantastic and there pancakes was better then Ihop 😉best of all check out time is at12pm. Greatest motel in the area definitely better than motel 6 had a bad experience will not recommend to any one with kids.is better paying 10 dollars extra for the thunderbird.. although they can improved in investing in new refrigerators. the one in the room wasn't working. I didn't experience any bed bugs as others mentioned in there reviews.. Overall my family love it for price worth every penny of it...

Dont let the outside fool you. The food was good. They make eggs any way you would like them. Omelets are made in front of you and you can get what ever kind you proffer. There are some home cooked items you just have to try.

Extremely comfortable bed, huge TV. Clean, great fridge and microwave. Convenient ice machine near room. Flawless WiFi, and plenty of free parking. Just as expected, GREAT VALUE.

The food is amazing best sothern resturant you can go to. I never stayed at the hotel before and really do not plan to. To be honest me and my huband were coming through and decided to stop we also requested take out plates after fixing our plates and her weighing them our total came up to $40.00 and some change still to this day I still do not are how our plates were that much but my advice if you decide to stop and war please war in to save yourself and your family some money (this is honestly a true story and I still cannot believe their take outs are that much)

Home cooked meals go in your stomach but straight to your eyelids. Everytime I go there it's always great, fresh, hot, and just down right country pigging out. I would give this place a 💯 star if I could. The absolute very best. Friendly, and prompt service! Folks don't choke at the table either like at the Chinese Restaurant in Cheraw. Lols

Michelle is a great waitress she is the best. She very attentive to all of the guest that eat at Thunderbird needs. Michelle always has a beautiful smile on her face she makes all of Thunderbirds guest feels welcome. So for those who want great food at a great price and you one great service please visit Thunderbird restaurant in Florence South Carolina. The food is awesome and Michelle who is a great waitress with a great personality will make you feel welcome so when you go ask to be served by Michelle

Great country buffet! The rice and gravy was just right, the chicen was seasoned perfectly. I stole some fatback (please dont tell anybody) to take with me to eat going down the road.

Food is delicious! Service is phenomenal! If you like a good southern home cooked meal thunderbird is the place to go. I'm from Texas and we definitely need a place like this in Austin.

Took my family to Myrtle Beach for Mother's Day week 2013 and stopped for lunch on the way back home. Best soul food we have had in a longgggggg time. Wish this restaurant was clonned at the beach and in our hometown near NC. We arrived 20 minutes before they opened and the line builded up during the wait HOWEVER all 5 cold, 2 hot, salad, and desert bars were fully stocked for the crowd. Once they opened at 11am it didn't take long 5 minutes tops to pay, get our plates, and sit to eat. Several waitresses were available to keep the tablets serviced. Definitely visiting on our way to & from the beach next time.

Great Southern food at a good price. This is our go to restaurant whenever we are in Florence and we are never disappointed. The decor is plain and functional with super attentive staff. GREAT FOOD !

Great restaurant I can't stay at the hotel. Maybe I just had a bad experience. I see other people stay here and like it. I love the home cooked buffet that they serve every day

I've been going here to eat for most of my life. They offer a basic country buffet but the food is very good, nice selection and most of the staff have been there for decades and are very friendly each and every visit.

Wow.I went here for Breakfast and the food were good all but my beacon. It tasted like the old smoke house bacon from way back in the day . And I didn't like the taste.
