McPike Mansion

Such a cool place! We stopped by to admire from a distance and were told by the grandson of the owners we could walk around. You can really feel the history of this place and tell they are doing a lot to restore it to its prime. Hopefully one day they can get it restored enough so we can pay for a tour but until then, respect the property. Check out their website, you can help donate towards the restoration and schedule group tours of the outside.

Great place of history for the Alton area. So many updates and improvements. Tours kick off in Spring!!

We enjoyed our trip to the mansion. We were greeted with hospitality and our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history. This is a must see attraction.

It was a very scary experience i saw orbs and had a thing touch my leg. Had a very awesome time. And for some reason when i was taking pictures my screen went all white.

We swung by during off hours and the owner was there doing some odds and ends. She is an extremely kind and friendly person and was nice enough to give us a quick walkthrough and info. It's obvious that this is a project of love for her and her family and the building is simply beautiful on the outside.

The inside is a work in progress but it is definitely worth going inside if you're able to. Just during our quick visit we had a couple of "events" that gave us a hair raising.

The property outside of the building is also amazing and just walking through the grounds you get a small taste of an older time that many people want to touch and experience.

Well worth a visit!

Took my Daughter for the lights out tour in the cellar. Very cool. The staff was very nice and interactive with guests.

The open hours are not indicating that the Mansion doors are open. Since it is privately owned the listed hours are the recommended hours for visiting. You may take pictures but unless the owner is available you won't be able to go inside.

Loved it here! I hope they get the opportunity to finish the place so we can tour the entire building. Very beautiful house! We had an awesome time here. And got lots of super cool souvenirs!

Mcpike mansion was really cool as far as the outside is concerned. It was not actually open when I was there, but I called the owner, she was super nice and gave permission to take some photos. If I am in the area for a bit longer I plan to schedule a tour of the inside. I would like to know a bit of its history, its definitely got a few spirits wandering about property. I wouldn't jump to say haunted because I haven't been inside and the feel from outdoors may not have been an accurate account of all the happenings, but it's got a feeling as if you aren't there alone and haunted seems so derogatory of a term. In a nut shell I would recommend adding to your list of places to stop if your in the area.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the McPike mansion. It's absolutely beautiful and the owner was extremely nice and shared much of the history with us. Also the cellar experience was amazing, not only did I see a couple things so did my 2 children I had with me. Definitely a place to go if you want to experience a very cool place in Alton.

Doesn't have "open hours" per se, you can walk around the grounds during the day but the house is only open during seasonal tours, and even then only the cellar.

If all you want is to walk around the outside, you're good to go, otherwise wait for a tour date.

OMG!!! The owner of the mansion was very intuitive and informed us of everything we wanted to know. She let us walk in and introduce ourselves to one of the spirits that reside there named Lydia. I mean she did all this while juggling her grandchildren. I am VERY IMPRESSED with the mansion and especially the way she conducted herself. I was just happy that we got the chance to talk with her. GO VISIT!!!

Always wanted to go here and finally got too.and going back again love this place to go look around at.cant wait to go there at night and pay to go in one sat.

A MUST SEE if visiting the Alton area! Such a wonderful old house with lots of great history. Sharon is absolutely wonderful!!! She is extremely nice and knows her stuff about the McPike Mansion. They are doing a great job of keeping the stories alive. They are also doing well fixing the place up the right way. Be sure to check out the place. A good time for everyone
