Thatcher Woods

Keep in mind I only went for the forest reserve, I didn't have to pay anything because I didn't hold an event here. If you plan to, I would contact the Parks and rec department. But I did have a fantastic 3 hour walk around the woods. Quiet, uncrowded, beautiful fall foliage, cool little railroad track in the woods...it was exactly what I was looking for.

Probably one of the most amazing places to visit and stay for awhile around here. Beautiful scenery, nature all around, and so much fun to be had in the open fields all around the forest preserve. Not only that, but the trails that lead through these woods are long and enjoyable to ride through .

A great place for a walk,/og. This place is beautiful especially in the fall when the leaves change Colors. Plenty of Parking unless they have soccer practice but it doesn't get too crowded. Finally, I feel safe coming to this place.

The woods here are very pretty and green. You will find very friendly people/families here too. Picnicking, walking, sitting at picnic tables, playing with ham radio equipment, running drones, walking doggies, and just plain enjoying themselves. Highly recommended.

Sure there’s a road on the other side of the river, and sure there’s a bit more trash along the trail than I’d like, but we’re here a few times a week anyways. Thatcher’s network of trails is the perfect place to walk the dog and just get away from it all for a little bit.

Short trails but split on both sides with a lovely museum! Beautifully maintained with lots of parking.

This is a rather large woods right in the middle of the city. There is a museum with some exhibits for kids and the hiking is great for Illinois!

Schillers woods is a nice spot for a picnic or grilling. There's some trails but this area seems like it's best intended to meet up with people play a game or something and chill. I'm the large trail there's a nice bridge and area where I sometimes find remains of rituals and stuff I presume were performed the previous night of my visits. But it's a fun park or great spot to kill some time.

Heavenly on a sunny autumn morning! Great place to take the dogs.

Great Place, a lot of deers and a lot of trails to follow, it is quiet and very fun.

Love our peaceful walks along the Des Plaines river. The deer never disappoint. Recycle your pumkins in the woods, the deer love them!

This is my getaway to nature!

This place has nature trails, and you can take a quiet nature bath by walking in the woods. Easy hiking, even in winter. Beautiful scenery. We saw 13 deer as we were leaving.

Nice open, mowed grassy area for running the dog or the kids before hopping back in the car.

There are also shelter areas for picnics, but nobody really needs those in January.

Very clean bathroom facilities. Free parking available.

I rented the venue for my wedding - it was the most perfect setting to exchange vows. Truly beautiful. It is usually booked about a year out, but if you don't mind getting married on a Thursday, like me, you might be able to snag a date for your special occasion.

Attended an event (birthday party) and enjoyed the venue very much. Nicely designed (rustic) with all necessary furniture, roomy, very clean and with an inside/outside option. A/C and heating,
depending on weather, plenty of parking space and easy access. Will plan on an event there again.
