Hessel Park

Great park for Play on playground n splash pad was good. Wind did make it cool. But we had a great day for bday party

A great park, with a short walking/running trail, a great play area equipped with free water splashes which was a hit in hot summer afternoon, and good family atmosphere. The water pads went off by 7pm, so plan accordingly!

Classic CU city park. Hessel has many attractions, including tennis courts, a summer splash pad, volleyball courts, walking paths, extensive playground, shelters and grills, and a wide open space for say, frisbee or ball sport. Excellent for families, friends, couples, or to walk alone. City park vibes, meaning that you are never there alone. But enough space that if you wish to be alone, you can find a quieter spot. Short walk to Jarling's custard cup or McDonald's makes it a great date or hangout spot. Would highly recommend!

Best park in town. The very best part is non-restrictive hours! Actually open long enough that working people can enjoy it. Not sure how a park "closes" but anyway.
Perfect running loop. Jot down the hill to Mattis Park and back for a 5k.
Splash pad. Picnics. Pickleball, tennis and volleyball. Water fountains. Art. It's all good here.

Tennis courts, nice big playground, very good shelter w great grills, nice walking/ strolling path. Very green, big trees & lots of shade!

Open greenery, but with plenty of shade. A splash pad and a playground. Everything you need to keep your kids entertained for a few hours. Definitely expect a crowd while you're there.

Hessel Park is one of the best parks in Champaign! I love how lively and active this park is, there’s Tennis Courts, Volleyball Courts, a large Playground with a Splash Pad, Multiple Shelters with Grills, and a walking path around the park.

Great Park. Beautiful, nice and clean. This park has a section to get wet also. Very clean. Plenty of benches and a great place to relax or walk.

Right in the middle of it, we always enjoy hustle Park when we visit Champaign. Although we did not know that there was a splash pad. Really adds a nice touch on a hot day

This park is so wonderful. There's a great splash pad in the summer, accessible features like swings and surfaces, a large and small playground with cool features like rocks to climb, and shared swings so parents and children can swing facing each other. Plus, there's a lot of grassy areas, picnic tables, and paths to stroller along.

This park has a little bit of everything for kids big and small. The main pavilion is perfect for concerts in the park.

♥♥♥Hessel. It’s our neighborhood park so I’m bias. The playground and water play place are great for the non winter seasons. Perfect for a walk Around or a bike ride.

Great park has a walking path, toddler play area, older child play area, grills, multiple pravilions, tennis courts, volleyball courts, and a splashpad.

It's a great park and is really fun to play in. Me and my friends go around playing and we never have any problems. The park is really clean and I love doing community service there.

Great summer fun. Splash pad and playground equipment. Picnic tables for lunch. Seating for adults. Nice park.

I have been going to Hessel park since I was a little boy in the 80s. Now that I have my own son and we are visiting Champaign I have taken him to Hessel park several times. They have all new jungle gyms and a water splash park. Highly recommended park for kids in all of the area.
