I'm not a fan of seafood... but this was the best seafood I've ever tried! The lobster is a nice consistency. They serve the lobster rolls cold on a buttered bun and it was great with the hot butter sauce that comes with it. We also had the fries and they were cooked well. My husband tried the scallop roll too and he said they were the best scallops he's had in his entire life.

Worth the 1.5 hour wait? I don't really think any food is work standing in line waiting that long... but the customer service made up for it. The lady that took our order was super friendly.

Honestly, I think we'd drive 6 hours all the way back to Maine again just for Red's lobster rolls. 5 stars!

If you're ready for THE BEST experience of your life go here.

From waiting in line to receiving our food Red's created an atmosphere on the type of business they are. And have set a new standard of service! While waiting in line they brought out cups and water and offered an umbrella to shield from the glaring sun. They came out and refilled waters a couple of times because the wait can be a little while, but every moment is worth it. They are cash or check only but conveniently have an ATM next to their business to access cash for your order. Once we got to the front the service continued to be great they were friendly informative, and even getting our meal continued to be a surprise. They are thoughtful and thorough as they layer what you'll need as you enjoy your meal. They give you hot butter to go on the fresh caught lobster, and beneath the lobster roll wrap they include towelettes to clean your hands.
I never would have imagined first class service from a lobster hut, but Reds amazes and inspires! Thank you for the experience.

A mound of lobster totally covering the toasted roll with warm butter to drizzle - I almost couldn’t finish it. Very yummy so I managed 😃 Stood in line behind a guy who tried a nearby competitor last year and he was back here this year, standing in line like the rest of us.

Supposedly they don’t measure the ounces of lobster so I can’t compare to others who do. $34 for the lobster roll. Stood in line for 2 hrs since line was down the side and across the back in front of another store.

We had to add a quest for the best lobster roll to our one week adventure to Maine. While I maintain there is no bad lobster roll, there is a bit of a disappointment in investing an average of $30. in what turns out to be an average lobster roll. While I am not saying Red's is definitely the best, it is the best we have come across. My advice is that it should be your first lobster roll to try, all others to be judged by Red's standards. Fried Zucchini was great as was the Sea Scallops. We waited almost an hour in line, but would do it again happily for the experience.

We got there at 5:00 which was closing time. They allowed us to get in line, we waited about 40 minutes but it was worth it. I'd highly recommend the lobster kabob, best thing I ate the whole time I was in Maine. Great staff, fantastic food. I'd highly recommend getting there early, trust me, it's worth it!

There isn't much you can say about Red's that hasn't already been said, shouted, or sung. The place is legendary, to say the least.

It was our first visit, we arrived at 10:30 and waited until they opened (an hour later)...it was so so worth it.

When they swung the doors open my heart started beating faster. Lobster roll in sight, and they had fresh scallops that day...DO NOT MISS THE SCALLOPS, SERIOUSLY. Dip them in the delicious tartar sauce, BUT they are even better in the butter.

After we ordered we were escorted to the deck out back to wait for our food...I nearly fell over when they put it in front of us.

Listen, I could go on...but JUST GO TO RED'S", and order anything because it's all going to be perfect. The passion of the owner & staff was so obvious, from the opening announcements, to them passing umbrellas to shield guests in line from the sun, handing out a samples of wonderful fried shrimp, or simply remembering your name and wishing you a good day as you finish your meal.

Truly remarkable. Will always come back when in the area.

Thank you, Red's!!

This is SO WORTH THE WAIT! Honestly the waiting is an experience in itself! While we waited, they allowed us to borrow umbrellas for the shade, brought ice water, fried shrimp samples and let us order appetizers!
When we got to the window the lady was SO kind and sweet, our food came out within a few minutes, and she piled on extra lobster for us!
The butter served with the lobster is piping hot and all their sauces were locally sourced and homemade. They really put love into each dishes and it shows!
Best Lobster Rolls around!
Thank you for such an amazing experience.

What can I say that hasn’t already been said about Reds? We saw it on Somebody Feed Phil and it was worth the trip on our way from Portland to Bar Harbor. We waited for an hour and a half and at one point there was a power outage. Luckily power was restored as we got close to the counter to order. There was so much lobster meat on our rolls that you couldn’t see the rolls. So fresh and tasty! What they say is true. They don’t measure or weigh the lobster meat, they just pile it on!

There’s a reason this place is famous! The line is there because they truly serve an amazing lobster roll. Full of tender and fresh meat and served with salty warm butter. Staff was friendly and food was FRESH.

Arrived at 11:45 on a grey/rainy day, waited about 40 min in line. The ambiance was lively while waiting. Ordered 2 lobster rolls, plated lobster, fried clams, whoopie pie and Moxie soda. The lobster rolls are the best, there was so much lobster that the bread disappeared. They are definitely the star, the fried clams were really average. The place is a tiny cabin with maybe 3 people working inside, but they were efficient for such a small space. The waiting line was much longer when we left, I can see why some people wait 1.5-2hrs.

Legendary lobster rolls. No other place does it like Red’s! Crab rolls also so delicious.

The line is always long at peak season, we waited 1 hour. Food is worth the wait if you have time, but they could definitely improve the efficiency of their operations and process twice as many orders. Case study for a b-school perhaps, but that’s also what makes local businesses great- they take the time to be personable, friendly, and attentive!

Waited in line for about an hour. Not because the kids working their tails off weren't quick enough, but because the food lives up to its name. We got there at about quarter to four and they close at 5. We were still in line and were told that they were closing but that everyone in line would get served. We were so grateful! We took our lobster rolls to go, but they did not disappoint. A highlight of the trip! I waited out until this stop to try my first and I'm so glad I did. It was SCRUMPTIOUS!! The hot homemade butter perfectly complements the cool fresh pulled lobster on the toasted roll. You get so much meat it topples over the edges so be careful! Worth the price! So glad we made the trip! Also, hats off to the staff that bus tables, take orders, run food, and help in the kitchen. You all are appreciated and helped make our experience wonderful. I hope to be back sometime!

THE Best lobster roll I've ever had 😋 parking stinks, and so does the line, but until you actually eat the food, you have no idea how lucky you are! It's worth the trouble, even hurricane Lee, lol. Under $40 knocks it out of the park!!!
The service was impeccable, and the people in line were a blast. The fried mushrooms were great and the zucchini came out of her brothers garden for the fried zucchini. Mmmmmmmm. We'll be back ❤

Reds is it worth it to stand in line for an hour plus? Well if you are from Maine the answer is well...no. After preparing our own lobster roll we felt we needed a comparison with what is referred to as one of the best lobster rolls in Maine. Ok wait for it... Yes you will wait for it up to 1-2 hours. The lobster is perfectly cooked tender and juicy. Lightly seasoned and this is the most lobster I have ever seen in a lobster roll. So the value is there for the price. Sides were good and the service is great. Servers bring water and umbrellas while you wait in line. They asked us twice how things were on the back deck. Have us ice and a bag for our take home rolls. Bring cash as it adds up at $34 a piece. If you have the time this will be an unforgettable experience. You will remember it every time you think of vacationing in Maine.

The main thing about this place is that they serve by far the most lobster in a lobster roll compared to any other place (at least that I know of). Still delicious.

Literally cannot write enough praises about Red’s, Debbie, and her girl gang! We waited about 1.5 hours in line while it on and off rained. It was worth every minute of the wait. Debbie and her girls were so kind, welcoming, and made sure we got all the important things to try on our first visit. The lobster roll was the real star of the show! We were blown away by how much lobster meat was on the roll. We will definitely be back next time we are in that part of the country!

Our first Lobster Roll in Maine was absolutely delicious! Lobster was cooked perfectly and served with plenty of drawn butter to dip it in. Market price of the day made it a $36 roll but it was big enough for us to share. Worth the drive! The summer crowds aren't here yet so we didn't have to wait in a line. They said they sell 14.5 tons of lobster 🦞 a year which tells you this little stand is doing everything 👍 right.

Took my wife and son here as a pilgrimage for lobster lovers. Its about an hour away. And, there’s a line. And it’s slow. We arrived at 11:20, which is 10 minutes before they open. We got in line just down the hill (on the same block). The folks in line behind us told us it would be an hour. They were right. Actually it was about an hour and a half. But, they also said it would be worth it. And, according to my lobster-loving family members, that was a true statement. The lobster roll was incredible and had so much lobster. I had a Big Al sandwich and it too was delicious. (they have many non-lobster offerings). And the people at Red’s couldn’t be nicer.

So, if you’re a lobster lover this place is definitely worth it. But be prepared to wait.

Best lobster roll ever. Would be worth a 1 hour wait but I waited almost 2 hours so not sure its worth that. They should really streamline their menu to only lobster rolls and speed up the process. Cash only.
