We recently enjoyed our third visit to this northern gem (we traveled from Grand Rapids just to eat here!), and it was spectacular as usual. La Bécasse has a cozy, warm atmosphere that lets you truly enjoy Chef Guillaume's cuisine. Everything we ate was delicious, and our server paced the courses perfectly and provided excellent guidance on wine. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

We enjoyed our third dinner at this fine restaurant and look forward to many more. The service is excellent, the food is divine, and the wine list has a wonderful variety. The proprietors are lovely and it’s a joy to get to chat with them! This is definitely my go-to spot for an incredible dining experience in the Traverse City area.

Took the family here for birthday gathering and it was a great experience. The staff was very attentive and the owner was very accommodating. Everyone at the table enjoyed their dishes, which can be tough to win everyone over, so that was an accomplishment. They had a nice selection of wines and drinks. They served a birthday cake that was WONDERFUL, and was an excellent finale to the meal. If we are in that area again we will be sure to make reservations again. Well done.

Who knew you'd be able to find quaint, classic and unbelievably crafted french cuisine in a small restaurant on the side of the road off of Glen Lake? We took our teens children (who are very open to trying new things) and they loved their meals. Not a place where there'd be many kids esp at that price point, but it wasn't odd and the staff were wonderful! Escargot and tomato tart appetizers were tasty. All entrees were perfection. Desserts were interesting, esp the chocolate cake in phyllo. Overall, a fantastic experience. Food speaks for itself!

Phenomenal food from start to finish. Every course was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented.
Highlights: mussels, charcuterie, shrimp creole, and warm chocolate cake. All of these dishes were fantastic.
The standouts: onion soup (WOW), and duck duo. Do not pass these up.

My only suggestion would be for the kitchen to communicate and educate the staff about the finer details of the dishes so as not to guess or generalize too much when asked. Build their confidence in the knowledge of the food and help them sell it easier to potentially hesitant customers.

Overall a wonderful dining experience. HIGHLY recommend.

Before coming here, I've only ever had French food in France. La Becasse was an amazing experience. The food and atmosphere made me reminisce of my time in Giverny. The waitstaff was also great. Anyone looking for a French experience in Northwestern Michigan needs to pay La Becasse a visit.

Une petite étoile dans le nord du michigan! We loved every bite and had a wonderful conversation with Chef Guillaume after dinner. Perfect food and service in the cutest little restaurant! We felt like we were in France again.

Absolutely phenomenal experience. As others have stated, it's impossible to find anything less than exquisite on this menu. Chef Guillaume is very personable and relaxed, taking the time to really chat with you if you want to. But the star of the show is the food, and everything is done with care, attention to detail, and decades of conscious taste and fine technique. A gem in northern Michigan. The interior is homey and cozy, but if the weather is nice you should sit outside, the location is beautiful and it really added to our experience. Lovely professional and friendly wait staff as well.

We were fortunate to find this place after spending the afternoon on the Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive. Even more fortunate that they took as walk-ins on a busy Saturday night. I had the duck and my partner had the trout. Both were fabulous. Our server, Kate if I remember well, could not have been more helpful or nice. We’re always happy when the service matches the food. We were visiting TC from Italy and here we felt as if we were back in Europe eating an exquisite meal in a nice countryside setting. If you’re in the TC area we highly recommend this restaurant.

I make sure to have a reservation for La Becasse every time I visit Traverse City, can't ever miss an opportunity to dine here. The food is consistently delicious and high quality while still remaining classic. Do yourself a favor and just order the side of potato gratin even if your meal comes with some, you'll want some extra.

The service has always been good, mistakes can happen from time to time but any I've ever had were resolved quickly and professionally. i always recommend my friend come here when they visit TC.

There’s a reason for the reputation. World class food from a world class and worldly
chef. The wine selection is nothing short of impressive…is it worth the price though? Your call.

Quaint, lovely hidden gem!! Food and service were perfect!! Delicious tender meats! Everything was perfect, except for the MILLIONS of tiny gnats flying around. Drove us crazy!! Otherwise, an exceptional experience!!

The food and quality are unmatched. Its very rare to get cuisine like this in Michigan. The small very plain setting doesn't match the excellence of the food prepared with fresh local ingredients. The chef makes everything from scratch and this is very apparent with the first bite. The drinks and extensive wine selection add to the meal. The service is really good and adds to all the other reasons why you absolutely must make your vacation plans to include this unusual gem for a night of perfect dining.

Incredible meal. Beautifully tender beef, fresh greens, and excellent accompaniments. If you go, be sure to try their mushroom rissotto, it was Devine. We came later on the evening, unsure if they could fit us in for dinner, and were welcomed, seated, and not rushed at all. A delightful amuse bouche of bacon, blue cheese, and scallion on toast point came right away from the house, and our salads, beet and green salad, followed not long after. My beef tenderloin was tender, juicy, well seasoned, and the goat cheese fondue was such a clever way to finish it; my husband's duck duo was impeccably cooked, the sauce brought out the complex flavor remarkably well. I've never had sweet potatoes au gratin, but they were creamy, flavorful, and tasted like more!
These are rough times for restaurants, but I so hope this place will be around for next time we are in Michigan. The food is excellent, the chef was friendly and joined us at our table, and their location next to the lake makes you feel like you've stumbled upon a hidden gem.

This place is a gem in the rough. Service, food, and drink was amazing with such attention to detail. Excellent wine selection and knowledgeable staff.
Very true to the feel and taste of country French cuisine. This was my first time here, and I'll be bringing people back to show off this restaurant as a good find. Highly recommend the pate' as an appetizer.

Everything was great. We loved everything here. The food, service, and wine were well worth it. Salmon was cooked, prepared, and presented A#1. The cheese plate was superb. Fresh bread went well with mussels and onion soup. Mushroom risotto was fabulous. Potatoes Au gratin deliciousness. Looking forward to getting another reservation soon!
