Akin Hills Pet Hospital

We have been going to Akin Hills Pet Hospital since 2009. The entire team loves animals and it is reflected in everything they do from the moment you walk in the clinic. Our fur baby actually get so excited to go there because she gets all the loves and treats from the staff. Our primary doctor is Dr. Leslie Buggi who is a phenomenal veterinarian who takes her time to outline options and provides fantastic care. I not only recommend Akin Hills, I trust them with fur babies.

I switched over to Akin Hills vet probably 1 year ago and I am so so so happy that I did. The whole staff is so friendly and you can tell they really care about you and your pet. I have had to make more frequent visits with my dog recently and the front desk staff and vet staff are always so friendly and helpful. My dog is also very scared of the vet usually and they are always so calm and nice around her to try to make her visit a little better! I appreciate everything they do!!!

We have long brought our three dogs here and have always received good care provided by compassionate people. I love that it is woman owned and operated! We recently had to put our elderly dog to sleep, and they guided us in such a caring way through the very emotional process and gave us a very sweet card signed by all staff and many special mementos we will treasure forever. Highly recommend.

I came home from work and found my dog had passed suddenly and unexpectedly. He was only 9 years old. We contacted Akin Hills Pet Hospital and they helped us take care of everything right away. We asked them to have him cremated but weren't expecting the heartfelt way they took care of him and the nice urn/case they put his ashes in. They REALLY seem to care.

We are new to the clinic, and they were wonderful, and prescribed medication that our Morkie needed. You could tell the Dr really cared and was concerned about our dog! And they don't gouge people like Southfork! I will be a lifetime Akin Hills fan!

Everyone working here is always incredibly nice. They take your concerns seriously and are clearly passionate about helping animals.

We brought our little dog Taco here from the time we adopted him in July of 2015 until his passing just yesterday in December of 2022. Dr. Blees, Dr. Leslie, Dr. Guss, and the entire team of technicians and front desk staff were absolutely wonderful for the entire 7.5 years. I never once felt like I was inconveniencing anyone and they provided really great, compassionate care for my little dog Taco. I always felt like he got great care, especially this year, after being diagnosed with stage 2 kidney disease in early May, right when my little guy turned 15. Dr. Blees helped my wife and I navigate this disease and she took an incredible amount of time out of her schedule week in, week out to ensure that all our questions were always answered and to ensure that Taco got the best care possible. I truly feel like we did everything we could for him, and Dr. Blees somehow miraculously kept him very comfortable all the way through the end of the disease, deep into stage 4. By the time he passed yesterday, I'd say he was still somehow 70% himself and could still do everything like go up and down stairs, go outside, etc. And all along, throughout all of our weekly appointments, the technicians and front desk staff always seemed more than happy to see Taco's little scruffy face. In the end, his little kidneys just couldn't keep up, but the care he got here throughout his time with us was just outstanding, and we will be back when/if we have another dog. I have no reservations about trusting the care of a seriously important family member to the entire team at Akin Hills. Thanks again so much for all the wonderful care you showed Taco and my family over the last 7.5 years, we couldn't be more thankful and thrilled with the compassion and care he received.

I originally brought my cat here because it was the closest place to my home. I soon realized that it was the best place to bring my pets in the area. The staff are very helpful and genuinely care about the pets and families they are a part of. Unfortunately, I recently had to put down my kitty buddy and I was impressed with the staff care, explanations of the process, and ensuring everything was going to be okay during a difficult time. Thank you for everything.

I cannot give enough thanks to the staff at Akin Hill's Pet Hospital for the care they have shown me and my two dogs. Most recently, as my dog, Scout, has been experiencing neurological concerns, Dr. Blees and Dr. Buggi have gone out of their way numerous times to be available and understanding as I have been a frantic owner in this process of seeking treatment. Dr. Blees first worked with the neuro department at AERC to discuss my diagnostic and treatment options (in consideration of my financial concerns). When we eventually had to consider "next steps", she continued to follow Scout's case as we moved ahead with the AERC in performing an MRI and collection of spinal fluid. The technicians, assistants, and customer service representatives have been gentle and caring every step of the way. We are so glad that Akin is our primary clinic!

9/8/23 - The staff at Akin Hills Pet Hospital really cares about their furry patients now. We had a small emergency with one of our cats and although they were quite busy with appointments they found time to help her on to the road to recovery. Their followup and caring attitude were really appreciated.

After our last vet (that we went to for 10 years) went from great, to meh, to horrible we had to find a new vet. They are awesome - great vets and techs, super friendly and helpful, and way more reasonably priced. If you’re reading reviews upon reviews like I did wondering if you should switch vets this is your sign that you should and specifically to them.

Akin Hills Pet Hospital is the best vet clinic in the south metro! We’ve been going to Akin Hills for years now but this past visit is what prompted me to write this review. I called in the morning to schedule a wellness exam and get our itchy dog looked at, the staff found an opening the same day and was able to get us in. Upon entering we were warmly greeted and the staff was so patient with our dog who has high anxiety. We were then seen by April who is friendly, calm and professional. Dr. Marcia assisted us and I was blown away by her demeanor. She is one of the most thorough, professional, kind, gentle, knowledgeable, honest and trustworthy doctors I’ve ever met. She wrote a plan for our dog and I left feeling very confident with her advice. She is an outstanding addition to Akin Hills and we will continue to be loyal to this clinic because of her and the entire team. I feel very lucky to live in Farmington close to Akin Hills. Thank you so much!

My dog had an after hours emergency after ingesting a lot of another pet's medicine. He couldn't walk well and couldn't see. We had to carry him (75 pound dog) We took him to the 24 hour pet ER... Paid to have him looked at and they wanted to keep him overnight & up to 48 hours for evaluation@ $2k-4k. I decided I would watch him overnight and then took him to Akin in the morning. She knew his BP had spiked causing all the blood in eyes to cause the blindness, but gave him medicine for bringing inflammation down and whatever else he needed. ( I forget) An hour later I could see improvement. We wouldn't know if there was permanent eye damage for a while, but I was thankful she knew what to do and what medicine to give him to help him, vs. the ER where they gave him nothing.

Akin Hills has been amazing with our two dogs! We recently moved to the area and were nervous about leaving our old vet office. When we told our old vet office where we were moving, they immediately recommended Akin Hills. They have done such a great job with our dogs, we have recommended them to all our nearby friends and family!

Can't say enough good things about our visit. The staff was so personable, friendly and helpful, the clinic is beautiful and new and everything was squeaky-clran and smelled fresh. But even more pleasant was Dr Guss... she gave us more time than expected and genuinely cared about my dog and helping his health condition. This was our first visit at AHPH, I had been looking for a new vet and was delighted they were able to fit us in their schedule the NEXT DAY... especially since the other several clinics closer to my home were either booked out over a month or not taking new patients. It was DEFINITELY worth the drive and we are so happy to find a new vet and clinic. Thanks to everyone at Akin Hills for your excellent care, from scheduling our appointment to the follow up calls you made to check on Thor the Great Dane during his recovery. You deserve 100 stars! 🌟

We have brought our foster dogs to Akin and because of our experience with the veterinarians and staff, we decided to bring our resident dogs as well. The vets and staff all go way above & beyond with vet care, consideration and respect for our animals and for us. Always they are focused on the emotional and physical well-being of the dog. We are enthusiastic and loyal fans of this practice and will continue to entrust them with our animal care.

Akin Hills has been my vet for my fur babies since 2005! We used to be close enough to walk, which is honestly why we went there to start with. But they have been absolutely amazing taking care of 2 German Shepherds and 2 Rescue cats. They are loving to my pets, they explain things to me, they have come into the clinic to help me early in the morning when I my dog hurt herself and I was beside myself! My recent relocation puts me 20 miles away and after trying a couple vets in my new location, I will never leave Akin Hills again! It is definitely worth the drive. Thank you for all you do for me and my babies!!!

We've been so happy with our decision to move our cats care to Akin Hills. They are so caring and friendly, our vet is willing with work with us on care and really values our input. They always call for follow up when they say they will, making sure we stay updated on our cats health in a timely way. The cost of care is very reasonable, we highly recommend the clinic and all the staff there.

Last year we lost our sweet cat to cancer and Akin Hills Pet Hospital was very supportive, helpful and caring during the whole process of finding out, working through it and saying good-bye. We recently decided to adopt a new kitten and we found out the kitten has ringworm. I know I have not been the easiest client to work with, but they continue to be amazing and care for my pets. Everyone at this clinic is sincere and thoughtful. They truly have a heart for animals. Their prices are reasonable, though not the cheapest, but I would MUCH rather have a vet like this one than a cheaper vet who isn't.

I can’t say enough great things about Akin Hills. They are always easy to schedule with and the care that the staff and Dr. Leslie gives to our pets has been amazing! We had to put our our dog down this last year and even though it was a very sad time for our family Akin Hills was so comforting and made the experience peaceful for not only my husband and I but our children as well. We now have a new puppy that we have been bringing here. They are always so responsive to our questions and you can feel that the safety of their customers and staff has been their top concern during the pandemic. I can’t recommend Akin Hills enough!!
