Rockler Woodworking and Hardware - Brookfield (Milwaukee)

😍I visited Rockler a couple of times after taking up whittling this summer. They are SO friendly and so knowledgeable and recommended some great beginning whittling tools. They also recommended a couple of good YouTube videos to get me started.

Because they've taken such good care of me, I took a bowl turning class there today with Rick Tell. Rick was SO patient and friendly and kind and helped me make my very first bowl, which impressed everyone I showed it to. I couldn't put it down! I love that I got to take home a bowl that *I* made. I don't think I put it down for several hours.

It was such an awesome class, and those few hours went by so quickly but I got so much experience in and will feel even more comfortable when I take this class again, because the instruction is SO great and it makes me want to immerse myself even more into woodworking. It's become my passion. I recommend this class to EVERYONE. Thank you, Rick and Rockler!

Edited to add: I just took a pen turning class with Gary this past weekend, and it was fantastic! He offered me with wood options and then guided me through how the mechanism worked, how to use the tool, how to best move my body for great results and less fatigue, and then showed me how to get a perfect glossy finish at the end! I chose curly maple, and it turned out beautifully!

They even get into whatever it is that you made, which makes you feel really good about how you did. And it's awesome because they all make BEAUTIFUL things themselves.

What I really love about our Rockler is that they know who I am by name, always greet me warmly, and give fantastic customer service and offer guidance when I am sometimes unsure of what I am trying to achieve. Plus their wood is GORGEOUS.

For Christmas I received a gift for Turn a wooden bowl with Gary Datka. I learned a lot from Gary. I had so much fun. Gary is an amazing teacher. I will recommend him to whoever wants to learn how to use a lathe. Thank you so very much Gary!!! We will be getting a lathe in the near future.

Awesome store, great staff. To begin with, I was looking for a dust collection system. I started my search at Woodcraft in New Berlin. Right away, the sales staff went to the larger, more expensive units they carried without really listening to the needs of my shop. I left empty handed and drove to Rockler. The sales person I worked with, showed me exactly what I needed (a small unit for a small shop) and the accessories to make it work for me saving me over 1500 from what the other store was trying to sell me. Again, Awesome trustworthy staff and amazing product selection. Thanks Rockler!

Spent some time taking the beginning turning class with Rick and can't say enough about how helpful it was. I walked away with not only the basics of turning, but also the knowledge of which tools and accessories would allow me to continue turning. The class size was small and Rick was very knowledgeable and helpful answering any and every question we had. In addition, this gave me the perfect opportunity to shop the store and pick up a few things I'd been putting off. While all of the store staff was courteous and helpful I do want to give a shout out to Linc as well who spent time answering my questions about various tools and again assisting me. Service is one of the most important reasons I shop Rockler instead of some random online outlet.

I received excellent service from Bill at Rockler in Brookfield. He was extremely knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. I have already been a customer, however today I tried one of their many classes. Bill was very patient and his expertise was very much appreciated. All in all I am a very satisfied customer and will seek out Bills advice in the future!

Update: The Brookfield team, literally everyone I have worked with there is incredible. The store manager and Bill are always there to offer much appreciated guidance and advice. I am always welcomed in with a smile and given exactly as much or little attention as I need each and every time I come out to their store. It is wonderful to know that I can stop in and not only get answers and products I need, but also friendly conversation with a staff that genuinely cares. Great experience learning to work with wood! Pete ‘the demo guy’ was so patient teaching us how to create wooden handles for our kitchen gadgets! If learning is fun, I highly recommend!

It' refreshing to see what customer service can be like when a team is passionate about what they sell. I wouldn't have received my online order for another month, but when I called to check-in - Gary was extremely helpful. He helped me identify what I needed in-store, and pick it up the next day. Jeff was also helpful when we picked up by explaining how to best operate my new saw, and pick up a few extra pieces that would help me learn more. This team is best-in-class - Rockler has definitely earned a loyal customer because of their help and customer service. Well done and Thank You!

Very easy and very helpful, I'll recommend the people in that store to everybody.

My wife brought a piece of furniture in to the store to get some help with matching a stain color. Gary identified each type of wood on the end table for her. He then found a piece of scrap walnut and proceeded to test 6 different stain colors on the scrap wood to help her determine the best match. She was extremely impressed with his patience and willingness to help a novice wood worker. We highly recommend Rockler for your wood working needs. Fantastic customer service!

I found Rockler online while looking for hardware for the kitchen update I’m currently doing. Since there is a location in Brookfield, I decided to visit the store instead of ordering online.

As a woman, it can be intimidating walking into a hardware store. From the time I walked in, I have been nothing but pleased with the level of service at the store. Rick was quick to greet me and was more than willing to answer all of the questions I had and offer his professional opinion.

It was my first time here. The store is a little small, but they pack a lot in there. All kinds of cool projects and specialty tools. Also, really high quality project panels and all kinds of high quality wood for projects. If you need wood with little to no defects, it's a lot easier to look here than at a hardware store.

I took a class this past weekend and Ron was the instructor. Ron was very informative and was able to answer all of my questions. He was very receptive to everything I asked and extremely knowledgeable. I truly enjoyed this class and will be looking for another soon! If you are just starting to have an interest in woodworking take Woodworking 101!

EDIT: I returned to this location recently and every employee was wearing their mask. Every face was new upon return; not sure if the store changed their staff out, but everyone was super helpful without being condescending! I feel a lot better about my safety and other's, and will feel a lot more at ease when coming back.

The employees here are often very helpful! However, when I was here the other day, I was disappointed to see one employee with his mask resting on his chin while he was helping a customer. I understand wearing a mask for a whole work day is difficult, especially as someone who does wear one all day, but mask breaks are safer when not taken around customers, especially with COVID on the rise.

When I was not able to get satisfactory resolution to a very significant problem regarding my Jet drum sander from the manufacturer, nor the extended warranty coverage insurance provider, the store management at my local Rockler stepped up, listened to the problems, and immediately provided resolution. Our family at Chiron MusicWorks LLC build custom and semi-custom musical instruments, electric guitars and bass guitars, and without the drum sander production grinds to a halt (please pardon the awful, imprecise pun-ish comment). I absolutely love using the Jet drum sander, and in the weeks since this issue, both Jet and the extended warranty coverage provider have stepped up and provided very satisfactory resolution. I would absolutely recommend working with Jet, both their customer service and in particular their technical support staff, with the extended warranty coverage provider, and their customer service representatives, and with the great people at Rockler.

Great store, employees are very helpful and knowledgeable on woodworking. Wood definitely recommended if you need anything wood related head in instead of your big box stores.

I have experienced the best customer service at Rockler Woodworking. Although I’m sure my projects have been quite minor compared to most of their customers, I was given the time and service and help I needed to be able to go home and complete my projects. Thank you for sharing your expertise and knowledge and ideas...I highly recommend Rockler to anyone who loves to be creative!
