My friend and I meet up in Piermont twice a year, but we usually go elsewhere. We decided to go to Basque to try it out and they stayed open a bit later then some other places.
We were going to sit in the back area, but we could not hear each other because it was very crowded. There were two seats at the bar so we decided to sit there. Glad we did as the acoustics were much better.
The bartender was so friendly and patient while we tried to figure out what to order. He also made a killer Old Fashioned! We ordered 4 tapas plates. The shrimp and garlic was out of this world! Cooked to perfection and so flavorful. All the food was fresh and amazing!
Toward the end of the night near closing time, there was a birthday. Then it was past closing time and people were still there, so we started a bit longer. They brought my friend and I a piece of cake… I thought… ‘Wow, how nice of them.” After about 30 minutes we met the birthday ‘boy’ behind the bar. He may have been the owner. He was super nice… And that’s when I said to my friend, “I think we are crashing their after hours birthday party!” It was 40 minutes after closing time. We didn’t realize that was all happening, but not one person asked us to leave. Honestly, it was very kind it then not to kick us out. Pretty funny really- maybe not to them but you wouldn’t know it!
Overall- an amazing experience for both of us. We ate every last bite of food. Very impressed 💕

We picked this place for trying out some good tapas and Paellas, and they didn’t disappoint. Just quality and sublime food served here.

The restaurant is situated in the river banks of Piermont, there’s a parking lot, that literally has a pavement deck into the river. The restaurant is small, but has a nice bar and comfortable ambiance. The menu has nice collection of tapas, few Paellas , entrees, salad and soup. Lots of wine and drinks are also served here.

We got the filet mignon and lamb chop tapas to start. They were prepared so well. Perfect temperature, tender meat, dishes made with complimenting vegetables. We ordered the seafood Paella for four. It takes about 25 minutes to prepare, so let them know asap. It was a massive, full of mussels, shrimps, clamps, scallops and baby squids. All served on top of yummy yellow rice. Four grown ups combined, we managed to finish only half of the plate, rest we took home and over next couple of days. It was still very delicious. We ended our lunch with Flan, that was sweet and soft.

Overall we loved the food. But the service was little spotty, as we saw only one server attending all the tables. It was little overwhelming for the person, working in a full house shift. I also didn’t like the fact they charged for every soda refill, even though the glass holds least than half a can soda, filled with ice. Despite some of these shortfalls, I still recommend this place for the superior quality of their food.

4 of us were in town for the weekend for The Blaze. We stumbled upon this place. The food, atmosphere and service were all top notch. We enjoyed a couple of pitcher’s of the sangria, some apps, manchego , empanadas ( sooo good) along with the skirt steak and filet better prep and flavor than most every steakhouse and a tasty pollo ajuillo. Make sure to try the churros y chocolate for a little something. All in all a great pick. This is one to travel too, it’s just that good.

Came here on Saturday during lunchtime. The place got packed, but the service was outstanding and fast. Cocktails were nice and strong.
Food... Food was excellent, both tapas and main course. So fresh, so flavorful, just mouthwatering.
Definitely will come back to try other items from the menu.

A really nice Tapas style restaurant located in beautiful Piermont. We really enjoyed it.

The menu includes varied selection of Tapas and traditional dishes like Paellas, Wines, Sangrias and Spanish dishes. The bread was amazing!

Recommended.

We visited Basque the other night with friends and were immediately caught up in the festive atmosphere. It feels like a celebration when you enter. Waiters were great, and the food was delicious. Highly recommend!

If you’re looking for a taste of Spain, then try Basque! The paella we had was a special for the night, but it was absolutely amazing. All of the seafood and rice was cooked to perfection and we couldn’t get enough! We also had the red wine braised chorizo tapas and it tasted delicious. I highly recommend getting the paella! It is a bit pricey but overall very worth the money cause you cannot beat the taste of the food.

The servers were very nice and attentive. I appreciated their service so much. I definitely will come back and try more of the tapas.

Consistently delicious. Been many times for their tapas. They are always good about helping me pick out the gluten-free tapas. Some day I might even move on the paella part of the menu, but don't rush me! Not ready to yet. 😋

Simply fantastic place! I had wanted to come here for a while and wasn’t disappointed. We had tapas to start with the fried marchego being a particular highlight, my only negative on the whole meal was that the squid tapas was lovely, but there wasn’t much of it. I have been to Spain many times and have had Paella numerous times, but the seafood paella here was one of the best! Great fun atmosphere and we will be back.

If you are looking for an authentic Spanish restaurant, this place will absolutely do the best job for you! Amazed by not only they serve the olive oil and sparkling water bottle made in Spain, but also the authentic taste of every single dish I’ve ordered! It reminded me exactly what I had back in Madrid and Barcelona! Excellent!!

Excellent food. Chef was accommodating to my food allergies! The sangria was excellent! The waitress was kind and cheerful! Other waiters greeted us too! Cozy atmosphere! We will be sure to return! My husband's steak was tender and My salmon was amazing! Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside! LOVE this restaurant!

I’ve frequented lots of tapas restaurants when in Spain, and Basque tastes just as authentic!! We tried many tapas and they were all satisfying, especially the Shishito peppers and baby squid. Would also recommend the seafood paella and OF COURSE a pitcher of their red sangria! The tapas came out quickly and the staff was so attentive, polite, and lovely - really appreciated their service. Great local spot that I hope to visit again soon :))

Cozy little place near the water. Food was excellent! Paella is huge so you will need to pace yourself. We had a party of 4 with several Tapas including Fried Tuna, Fried cheese, artichokes, meatballs and a charcuterie board of meat and cheese. Topped it with the seafood paella for 4. The paella was too much for us. We could have done with a two person size or just skipped and had a couple more Tapas. Definitely will come back. Oh and we also had a the white sangria which went well with the meal.

Our family of 8 travelled from Jersey City/Hoboken to this place for my brothers birthday. Food was excellent. Shrimp, octopus, potatos bravas, croquettes tapas were all amazing, as was the Spanish olive oil and bread. And the paella was really wonderful…..the rice was so tasty and the fish delightful. Loved the sangria…not sweet…dislike sweet sangria. Our waiter George was very attentive. Awesome night..worth the trip!!!

Five stars is not enough. We drive from NJ just to eat here. You can’t go wrong with anything you order. The food is authentic to the Basque region of Spain. Kudos to the chef. The staff is efficient and friendly. We are salivating thinking of the next time we go. By the way, we always go on weekends for lunch and order food to go for dinner. Just can’t get enough.

I’ve been a serious foodie for 30 years in and around NYC and have not been this excited about a restaurant in our area since basque opened. They literally can do no wrong, from prime cuts of beef to the freshest of seafood. Benny the owner treats me and my family well like family! Good selection of wine some really great higher end wines I love. Must try’s are manchego frito, spicy tips and any of the paella…if you don’t do seafood order the meat paella it’s all so good I’m salivating writing this. I go every couple of weeks to get my fix! Oh try the pistachio tartufo for dessert…life altering!

Authentic Spanish food, all with a good flavor and fresh taste. This is a restaurant you MUST visit in Piermont. This is the second time I have visited this restaurant and it has not disappointed me with the wide variety of tapas, dishes and wines. The staff is very friendly and professional. If you don't know what to eat, don't be shy about asking what they recommend because I assure you that you won't regret it. Something that many want to know before going out to eat is the price, I tell you that they have very good prices and the portions they serve are good.
Buen Provecho!

Stumbled on to this place during a recent drive. From the outside the place was plain. We thought we may have made a mistake coming here but the second we walked in we were impressed. The decor is warm and welcoming.

The food was delicious. We had:

Grilled Octopus
Gambas al ajillo
Tuna cubes
And our favorite:
Manchego Frito

The Manchego is a must have!
