Cute restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating in shelter island. The service was fantastic. You’re served bread that’s hot piping and delicious at the start. The rest of the meal was so so, standard American restaurant fare. Got the miso salmon, felt like a dish I could make at home. Still a great vibe and perfect for a summer night dinner. The sticky toffee pudding was yum but would probably get a different flavor of ice cream to go with it next time

Very, very good. The gluten free scallop dish was amazing. Prawns over asparagus were terrific. Tuna tacos were unique. The $24 glass of
Bordeaux was a poor value, but that was my choice. A great restaurant.

Five stars overall.
Extremely high rating for the food
Good rating for the service
Extremely low rating for the obnoxious people sitting next to us. But likely they won’t be there when you go!

We really enjoyed the skirt steak and the duck. Both have a beautifully blended array of unique flavors and perfect texture.

Our server was friendly and knowledgeable, but she was clearly waiting on an unmanageable number of tables.

When we’re next on Shelter Island, this will be high on our list.

The surprise here was the food, which was just extraordinary, the best duck confit I’ve ever eaten, the miso salmon outstanding. Excellent wine by the glass. Amazing atmosphere full of energy and just the nicest people working there. But I just can’t get over the duck, substantial portion, incredibly tender, replaced the Gramercy Tavern duck as my all-time favorite.

Delicious food, great ambiance and service. Consistent every time. We sat outdoors in lovely garden. Very good lobster roll. Nice prix fixe menu Mon- Thurs 5-6. Recently enjoyed the chicken confit, miso salmon and the 3- berry shortcake. We will continue to dine here, highly recommend.

First time at the restaurant. Did not disappoint and the Fra D and the Bolognese were delicious. Hot baked bread and solid bar drinks make this a win.

Charming interior space with exposed wood, high grade ingredients. Miso glazed salmon on bok choy was delicious as were the grilled lamb chops with roasted root vegetable. Wonderful spot for special dinners!

Oh my godddd one of the best steaks i have ever had in my life. The french fries are also to die for. I will be coming back for sure. The bartender and staff were very very nice. They welcomed us in and the bartender talked to us forever even though it was closing time

All I can say is wow. In the land of bad service and overpriced food, Vine Street delivered above and beyond. On a crowded Saturday night in July, our table was ready on time, our service was experienced and professional, and the food was by far the best we have had on the entire East End. We had the tuna tacos, calamari salad, linguine fra diavolo , duck confit, oysters and beet salad and all were delicious, interestingly spiced and cooked to perfection. The home made bread was to die for, and not charged for as so many other places annoyingly do these days. Too bad we have to take a ferry to get here, as we would come more often!

This place is great I wish I took a picture of the food. Had the rigatoni, some wine and the sticky pudding.

Had one of the best meals in a while. Staff was great. Sat at the bar and there was a partition between us. Felt safe. Hernan was amazing! Loved watching him in action making drinks for tables as we enjoyed our courses. Never skipped a beat! Could not as for a better experience on shelter island! As a local to the north fork we rarely venture out “that far” to go out but will definitely come again!!!

Very Disappointed in the food. Everything in the order was incorrect. The Salmon was way undercooked, asked for MW. Asked for a substitute for the Bok Choi which we didn’t receive. The Bok Choi was overwhelmed with garlic. The coconut rice didn’t have any coconut. The response I received back from order taker was sorry, I’ll tell the chef. If I could give this meal a zero I would.

Visited the restaurant and everything was outstanding from the service, management and the star of the show, the food. I’m going back this week. Clearly my last review was incorrect.

Happened upon this sweet welcoming spot after some walking on the preserve on Shelter Island. Marco the bartender and our greeter/ waiter wee Warm and inviting and we spent a nice hour at the bar over a drink talking about the restaurant and life on Shelter Island. Food promised to be good and we will go back for dinner.....

I wish there were six stars with which to rate this restaurant. Nothing on the east end of Long Island compares to it for quality of food. It's like Stone Creek when they were just getting a name for themselves. The building is modest but mostly hand built and creative and cool. The staff are talented, devoted, hard working, proud, and yet quiet and modest. So secluded and hard to get to, being out on Shelter Island, but those who let small obstacles get in the way miss out on a lot. But there are real pros behind the scenes and they are putting it all out there. Start with the houses's Petite Chablis, awesome. Then run, dont walk to the Tuna tartar tacos. There is a franchise just in those tacos alone. The shells are like nothing you have ever tasted. Then order the calamari salad. I never get calamari, but this is a gem. Then, the entrees are everything you could ask for. Take your choice. Nice people, great craft, bon apatite. You can go to the overpriced, mediocre, pretentious, place in town, or you can drive to the Shelter Island ferry and explore cooking as an art and a craft. We live in Westhampton and this is our new favorite place.

I consider Vine Street Cafe one of the best restaurants in the Hamptons. Perhaps what really helps is the fact that it is not terribly convenient to reach. It is on Shelter Island and the only way to get there is by ferry boat. The ferry is very charming and pleasant but it adds time and cost to the evening. Once there, the food is delicious and the service is excellent. I often go there on a special occasion, to celebrate a birthday

Great dining experience and meal! Wife and I went late October and the restaurant was busier than they expected, but the staff kept their smiles on and executed perfectly. Food was delicious, good wine, yummy dessert. We had the oysters, crispy calamari, Duck and Fra Diavolo, berry crumble. Oysters were on the small side, but flavorful. I would definitely recommend VSC to anyone visiting Shelter Island.

Great food and very friendly service. The Bolognese is pretty good, but the Chateaubriand is phenomenal. Worth every penny.

They used to have a bartended that did magic tricks..uh I mean illusions. He was cool, but the new bartenders, Josh and Clint, are quite dapper and very personable. Their magic is in their service.
