Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards

We stayed overnight as part of the Harvest Host program. We met one of the owners, Greg, and spoke for a while. He was very friendly. It’s always hard reviewing a winery because it is not all just about the wine. They trend toward the sweeter wines where we tend to enjoy drier wines, so while that may have been a miss, our visit was still a fun experience. It is definitely worth a visit during your time in the Finger Lakes!

There is a vast selection of vineyards to choose from when visiting the finger lakes. I would recommend adding Hazlitt to your list. Wine tasting is $10. There is an excellent selection of wine, which is great for people with all different preferences. And right across the parking lot is a venue where you can listen to live music, have a drink (or two), and grab something to eat.

The way wineries should be. Not stuffy at all, a fun vibe, very laid back and great wine. The staff were all having fun, and although busy everyone got taken care of quickly. The outside area I bet is a lot of fun in the summer. I definitely recommend for anyone looking for a fun winery experience.

Really nice place. Always a wait, extremely busy, but worth it in the end. The Oasis by Hazlitt is right there as well. Doesn't have the views you'll get at other places along the Seneca Lake Wine Trail, but it has a very nice atmosphere and is beautiful inside. Great food as well. A bit pricey in that regard. Shady areas outside to sit and relax and did friendly outside. Beautiful Koi pond off the Oasis with a fountain and deck to relax on. Only slight is not enough outside seating. But like I stated, it's always extremely busy(deservedly so) and no matter what there would be limited seating outside I imagine. Can't recommend strongly enough. Very friendly staff and excellent wines.

A winery with an impressive range of excellent wines having won countless awards for many years. We met the winemaker while having lunch at a local restaurant. He has been there since graduating from Cornell in 2004. If you're all about the wine then you have to come here! Whites, reds, sparkling and slushes are all available. The tasting bar is smaller but a great time for anyone as you enjoy the superior wines among quirky displays of animals and antiques. There is a very large area for purchasing bottled wine and other memorabilia. Next door is The Oasis where you can get food and hang out by the lovely pond. This is a must stop on your winery tour!

Hazlitt is the heart and soul of the finger lakes wine trails. They offer the best most popular wines in the region. Red cat and white cat are the best wines around! They have a huge outdoor tili bar and big inside gift shop with cheap prices and friendly service.

We loved Hazlitt! The wine was great, loved the popcorn, but our favorite part was the bartender. Jackie was AMAZING! So friendly and welcoming, she really made our family’s visit extra special.

Awesome 2 bars one is a Horseshoe bar, hilarious bartenders! Great wine and seltzer selections! Tasting was great! Complimentary popcorn upon entry.

Hazlitt was a nice place to visit and sample some of the area's best selection of wine. I thought the rieslings were very good and enjoyed the full range from dry to sweet. They also have an excellent sherry and port.

Fantastic winery! Loved the horseshoe bar where you get tastings. They provided us with popcorn while we tasted. Wines were stellar! Staff was very personable and recommended some great things. Top notch! I love wineries that take their time to explain their wine while you are tasting. Makes it a great experience!

Last month, my friends and I enjoyed a private wine tasting at Hazlitt to celebrate a birthday. We had an excellent time! The owner and staff are entertaining and friendly. Get the Bramble Berry Wine Slushie; it's delicious (if you like your wine on the sweeter side!) Presented in a color-changing take-home cup, you also get a reusable metal straw with a tiny "Red Cat" and cat paws etching (too cute!). I purchased a bottle of the Bramble Berry wine to take home that unfortunately slipped through my paper bag and crashed loudly at my feet while I was enjoying that delicious slushie in the bar area after our tasting. The staff not only helped lessen the embarrassment by quickly removing the evidence, but also replaced the bottle in one fell swoop. Other things we loved ---> Koi fish in a pond by the bar and ample outdoor seating around multiple fire pits. There was even a rainbow that day! We all enjoyed the atmosphere and vibe. Thanks for being one of the highlights of our wine tour!

Hands down the best winery we have been at in the finger lakes. Travis served us inside and there is so much selection. He was extremely knowledgeable and gave great recommendations. The service and wine were amazing.

This is a busy vineyard with a very friendly and attentive staff. They have a large gift store where they sell their wines and other products. They also have a light fare restaurant that you can sit outside next to fire pits, comfortable cusioned chairs, or sit indoors. They also have several outdoor games to keep you entertained while you eat and have a Red Cat wine slushy - Be careful, these sneak up on you.

A little different setup than before Covid but still a fun place to try some nice wines at the bar.

Great ambiance. Good wines. Very friendly and helpful staff. I know Hazlitt from their red cat, but as a fan of dry reds, red cat hasn't been a fave. I tried several of their dry whites and they were amazing. Definitely recommend.

Fun little place! It was more comfortable and less technical than some of the other winery's. The music and atmosphere were great! Also the popcorn they served was fantastic!

Me and my wife got about 9-10 wines for a tasting. Overall, we liked the variety we tried quite a bit and got some bottles. Staff was nice and the space was pleasant. Popcorn is an interesting choice for a palet cleanser but it worked. We found the White Stag was excellent.

Interesting selection for the tasting menu. The outdoor seating was great with fireplaces, live music, and the oasis cafe/restaurant serving food items. There were a lot of people but still a lot of place to sit. The tasting items I chose were all great and I only went by the descriptions written on the menu. They let you keep the menu to get the full bottles or for next time. The staff was also exceptionally nice to us, and provided good service.

I’ll admit I’m a little biased, since I grew up with tasting Red Cat and White Cat as my first wines when I became of age. However, Hazlitt serves much more than the two wines. I’m a semi-sweet to sweet wine lover, so naturally I chose sweeter wines. (Check out my picture of my flight below for what I chose!) We thought we were gonna be a while waiting when we saw a line, but was not the case. A short ten minute wait got my party of six right in at the main bar. My friends and I had a splendid time and I decided to purchase a bottle of Red Cat Fizz and a Halloween White Cat. I wish it was easier to find a greater selection of Hazlitt products closer to Syracuse! Something that I thought was unique to the Seneca Wine Trail was that Hazlitt offers flight tasting by the glass between $2-$3. I like that option because you can really explore a various selection of wines so you aren’t stuck with just red or just dry wines.

Perfect first stop on our wine trail! The staff is super knowledgeable and friendly, the wine tasting was great, and the Oasis area serving wine slushees was such a fun bonus! Such a fun and welcoming environment.
