1808 American Bistro

Couldn’t find a single reason to give less than 5 stars! The atmosphere was so quaint, our sever, Tony, is the guy you really need to bring home so he can describe everything that is happening around you at all times! His energy and passion for the food was incredible and he left us feeling like we should rush back! Our food (all courses) was absolutely delicious. You can tell that so much thought went into each dish. I had the salmon and will have that again for sure! If you don’t get dessert, you didn’t come to play! I have just recently been trying foods in Delaware and I don’t know why I didn’t visit this place sooner! Food and service was amazing. Will definitely be back!

My wife and I ate there for our 34th anniversary. The food was all excellent! For starters we have the summer cheese plate. Veggies were fresh and the xheesw Blended perfectly. Wife had Braised Beef Lasagna which was rich and luscious. It was a cold evening so chose the grilled cheese sandwich (massive with 4 cheeses). The bread was buttery and crisp. With it I had the tomato bisque and it was velvety and fresh. We finished the even with a shared plate of beignet, still warm perfected drizzled with honey and a side of fresh vanilla whipped cream floating on top of coffee.

Rachel M was wonderful and everything we had for brunch was great. The shakshuka and corned beef hash were the favorites among our table. Honorable mention to the smash burger and fried steak!

The food was amazing. And everything was a good quality. The service was so nice. I wished there were more choices on the menu.

First time in and we'll definitely be back . Tony's love of food shines through as he describes a few of the wonderful dishes available. I went with the Filet Medallions cooked to a perfect "happy medium " and let me not forget the most delicious gorgonzola potatoes. Great food , beautiful spot and close to home!

Tonight, I dined in the igloos at 1808 American Bistro and enjoyed fabulous food. Let me start by saying that I do not even like brussels sprouts, but their brussels sprout appetizer was wonderful! The bread appetizer was also very well done. The salmon was excellent. My only minor regret was the hamburger which had a great flavor, but was a bit soggy. All in all, the igloos were a fun and unique experience that was very well organized.

The atmosphere is impeccable, the cocktails are amazing and the food is delicious. This is our favorite dinner spot in Delaware.

It was busy when we arrived a little early for our reservation. Our server was attentive, but she had many tables to cover. Kitchen was slow bringing out our salad, which arrived just before the entre. The lamb shank and pork chop were tender, with good presentation. This place is moving up our list of favorite restaurants.

Great food and good service. Ate in the outside greenhouse. Heater and air filtration present. A little pricey for the coffee, but very enjoyable.

This was my second time dining at this establishment. Both times the bartender, Grace, took care of us. Our last visit was during First Friday and the place was packed. Grace made us feel like we were her only guests. She gave us all the attention we needed and always made sure everything we had was perfect for us. I had worked in fine dining/Prime Steakhouses for many years and dined in all of the top restaurants in Columbus, 1808's food is just as good as those restaurants at a fraction of the price. Grace also made me the best old fashioned I've ever had. Thank you for the great service and the amazing overall experience!

I have eaten many meals here, it's our favorite date night restaurant. Recently had the Marsala pasta dish. It was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!

This was without a doubt the best meal I have ever had out in a very very long time; if not ever. I am a pretty dang good cook myself. We opt to not go out to eat as every restaurant we go to is extremely disappointing. This was not the case at 1808. I ordered the chef special for the evening, braised lamb. My wife ordered the salmon meal. Both of our meals were out of this world. The lamb…get it. I can’t describe it. I’ve been told the braised beef short ribs are comparable (they’re on the menu permanently.) The salmon came with a carrot purée that was fantastic. We ordered the bread service as well. Very reasonably priced for the quality of bread and whipped garlic butter we received. My wine was superb as was the strawberry cocktail my wife ordered. The service was top notch. Each item was removed as we finished the course. Refills were done automatically. The servers and staff truly knew what they were doing. We also happened to dine there during homecoming unbeknownst to us. Even with the rush of high schoolers out to dinner, we had no delay whatsoever. This was an experience to remember. If you’re looking for a good meal and 10/10 dining experience in downtown Delaware, you can’t do any better than the 1808. Go there. You won’t regret it.

Great beer selection. I had the lasagna and my wife had the gigantic pork chop. Both were excellent. Our server Noah did a great job.

Our group of 10 really enjoyed this upscale restaurant in the middle of a tiny town in Ohio! The chef obviously puts a lot of creativity and love into their menu. I ordered the beets 4 ways simply out of curiosity, but it totally paid off. It was delicious and such a change from the usual salad. I also ordered the fried chicken with "properly prepared potato salad" because I was curious what that even means. Truth be known, I dislike potato salad and this rendition didnt change my mind, but the chicken was excellent and such a huge portion I had enough for lunch the next day (it was delicious cold, no soggy breading!) Our table ordered one each of the desserts. Of those, the bread pudding was probably my favorite. I like my beignets with a little more substance, these were like pillow puffs. All in all a great little find with excellent service and ambiance.

Desmon, Don and Chef Ian we absolute champions this evening! The service was great, friendly vibe, great suggestions…and the shrimp and grits was 10 out of 10 the best I’ve ever had! Taste and flavor was on point! Thanks all and will def be back!

This is my go-to when going out to dinner. Always a good meal. Endless beers on tap and truly unique and masterfully crafted cocktails. The weekend specials are always good and the weeknight events are a lot of fun. I recommend it to everyone. Also.... get the banana pudding it's amazing.
