I was referred to Mike at Auburn Guitar from a friend who had seen some amazing work he had done restoring an older acoustic guitar. I brought him two of my guitars that needed some attention for set up work and minor repairs. A 1970s Guild acoustic and Ernie Ball Music Man. Mike is one of the most professional businessmen I've worked with. His customer service is absolutely amazing. He delivered everything as promised and went above and beyond any other kind of set up guitar work I've gotten anywhere else. My guitars feel and sound better than ever. His knowledge and skill level has thoroughly impressed me and as far as I'm concerned, he's the only person who will ever work on my equipment from now on!

I bought an old 60s Teisco and when I brought it back home to test it, nothing worked and half of the tuners were broken. There was only a grounding sound coming from the electronics. Mike was able to fix everything with the electronics and find some tuners for me and now the guitar sounds and plays perfect!

This place is absolutely the best. Mike is an outstanding luthier and technician, and he takes great pride in his work, all while being very reasonable in his prices. I've had multiple guitars set up and worked on at Auburn Guitar, and the last time, he set up my PRS SE. He found some legitimate problems I wasn't even aware of and fixed it up and it plays like new now. This place is just great.

I reside approximately an hour away from Auburn Guitar, making the journey to drop off or retrieve a guitar a significant distance. Upon the recommendation of a friend, I decided to give Mike a chance. To my delight, Mike turned out to be an incredibly friendly individual who consistently returns my guitars with flawless setups. His consistent five-star ratings and the seamless experience I have with his services make the trip well worth it.

I went to see Mike today. he was so kind, polite to me , and he put new strings on my guitar and tuned it, it is an older guitar, I play it a lot, and it sounds beautiful now that he fixed it for me. I am so grateful, and
would recommend Mike, the next time you need any repairs on your guitar.

Mike came highly recommended to us for his guitar expertise and did not disappoint. He made some adjustments on my son's guitar that made it significantly easier to play which makes a huge difference for a fairly new player. He was friendly, explained what he was doing, charged a very fair price, and made an effort to be quick so my son wouldn't miss much practice. Very impressed!

Mike is a true professional and did a great job with a much needed set up on my 1961 Gibson ES330. He also gave me great advice about potential finish work I was considering. I really appreciated his honest approach and the time he spent talking though the options (and talking guitars). A fantastic experience. We're very fortunate to a skilled honest luthier like Mike and Auburn Guitar in our area!

It was my first time taking my daughter's guitar in for a set up. Mike was very thorough and his turn around time was amazing. My daughter was extremely happy! He's a great person to work with and we will not be taking her guitars anywhere else.

Mike took my Dad's 1930's Regal resonator dobro guitar in pieces, and transformed it into an excellent looking and playing instrument. He made and installed a complete new fretboard, tail piece, and tuners. He also reconstructed the inside of the body so that everything fit and functioned. Mike also maintained the patina, so it looks like an 80 year old guitar. And at a very reasonable price. Thanks Mike!

First time working with Mike. I brought in a Taylor 314ce that I’ve played heavily for close to 18 years. Frets worn, neck bent, etc. Just got it back home and it is awesome. Totally worth it. He showed me everything he did and I am really impressed with his work.

I've been to several different luthiers in the area since Ken at rainbow has been too backed up...I've used Ken my whole guitar life because I love how he sets up my guitars..I haven't been able to find anybody as good until now..Mike does fantastic work and not only takes care of problems/repairs but his set up is spot on , really fantastic,his prices are great and he is a really great guy and gets my gitfiddles done at a more than reasonable amount of time

I have over 500 guitars and do a lot of my own setups/repairs. If there is something that's "out of my Comfort zone", I goes to Mike.I am Very Comfortable taking things to him. He's extremely Talented and Knowledgible, And Not a Bad Guy.... LOL. Fair Pricing for Perfection!

Mike did a phenomenal job with this budget guitar that I bought with all sorts of issues. He had to deepen the neck pocket by 1/8 of an inch and with precision and mounted the neck at the correct angle. Really skilled work! It plays like an expensive guitar now with low action and great intonation after a set-up. I’d go back to him for all my guitar repair/maintenance needs.

Mike has an approach to his work that reflects respect not only for the physical instrument AND its history; but, also for his customers. I have a custom tenor guitar. I could not advance my playing because of an issue that originated from the Martin factory. Mike knew right away what I suspected. I would have agreed to pay right there and then for extensive fret work. Mike offered a solution that was financially reasonable and in keeping with the integrity of the instrument. He fixed the issue completely by hand carving a new nut. Later, I discovered that what I thought was a flaw in my playing was actually related to this issue all along. It is refreshing to meet a fine craftsman who is highly skilled, enthusiastic, and caring. He absolutely loves his work and it shows.

My son just started out playing guitar and one of his strings broke. Mike went the extra mile replacing all the strings and giving it a tune while we waited. Very friendly, and you can tell he's passionate about what he does! Will definitely go back, and will be recommending him to others. Thanks again Mike.

Talked to Mike via email about getting a fender jazz bass control plate re-soldered and even though he wasn’t taking on any new work, he not only helped me out, he did the job right then in about 20 min. He was great to chat with whilst he worked and helped answer some questions I had. I 1000% recommend Mike and auburn guitar for any guitar/ bass work you need!! He freaking rocks. Great luthier.I have many guitars and probably more a collector than player I just love beautiful guitars. I need them all to perform perfectly and some things I can do and some not. Mike knows guitars inside and out and always corrects the issues .Also great to talk to and can help with style issues brands,models pickups, amps, pedals, cables. I trust my treasures only with Mike.

I appreciate Mike's honesty. He looked at a guitar I inherited and told me not to sink a lot of money in repairs. I can buy a new guitar of the same quality for the money spent on repairs.

Not sure if I'm in the right place to leave a review for Auburn Guitar but here goes.
I needed a ferrule/bushing for my gibson les paul,
After searching all over the UK (where I live) I reached out to Facebook and got a reply from Mike Johnston from Auburn Guitar who miraculously had exactly what I needed.
He offered and subsequently sent the part to me in the UK completely free of charge.
What can I say about this guy except he such a great bloke and I thank him wholeheartedly in public.
I've read many reviews for this shop, they all say the same, absolute quality workmanship and service.
I wished I lived in Ohio I would be in there every day.
