Barrel & Boar Newark

Wow! Delicious oversized sandwich and hot crispy fries! Excellent food. And I'll tell you something, if the fries aren't great I'm not happy and i was ecstatic these fries were excellent. And that sandwich, it was so good! And huge! Then we ordered a bread pudding dessert and that was equally delicious and huge. We arrived at 5 on a Friday and there was a concert at the Midland so by 6 this place was packed. I'd definitely go back except i live about 300 miles away and was just visiting the area. And it's right across from the courthouse. Very pretty.

This place is AMAZING from the time you walk in you are welcomed by friendly faces as well as the aroma of smoked food. We tried several appetizers corn, grilled watermelon but the shrimp and grits were the stars of the evening. Nice portion great flavor profiles nice size shrimp and plenty of sausage. My Husband got the barrel boar burger and I had the buttermilk chicken and veggies. Everything was great. Tim the G.M continued to check in on tables if your in the area do yourself a favor and stop in. You wont be disappointed

What a wonderful experience...

We have been to the Barrel and Boar in Gahanna quite a few times so we found ourselves in Newark. We really enjoyed brunch at their Newark location. The restaurant is quaint with that old building vibe. The service was spot on - Abby is a rock star waitress. I had the Caroliner which is basically shrimp and grits with 2 fried eggs on top which was delicious. Wifie had the big breakfast which was unique but equally as delicious. This place is worthy of a return visit...

Hands down, best restaurant in Newark. You can order anything on the menu and you won't be disappointed.

The staff are some of the nicest people and they make sure your time there is amazing.

10/10 I reccomend this place to anyone.

We were on a day trip from Powell...
Once again I dove into my food before I took a picture. I promise it looked much more appetizing before I started to chop it up! It was the "Burnt Ends" hash. It was VERY tasty! My wife had the meat Fritatta. Our server was amazing. We would definitely go back!

This is a great BBQ and bar located right in the historic downtown Newark, Ohio. The restaurant is open all the way to the back with the bar up front. The bar has lots of craft beers and mixed drinks; the bartender was quite skilled at all the holiday drinks they were offering! The food was delicious; I ordered a brisket sandwich with roasted brussel sprouts. Everything came out cooked well and quick; especially on a busy Friday night!

Excellent excellent EXCELLENT BBQ! The ribs are fall-off-the-bone mouthwatering good, seasoned to perfection! I really liked that they don't come sauced, the taste of the smoke and seasoning speaks for itself! Will definitely return!

Absolutely delicious!! The plating was nice.. atmosphere cool..no calorie smells.. fabulous!! Food selection was good and the dessert yum!!

"Good food and beautiful people." -my son. Pulled pork is moist and flavorful, beef brisket has a delicious, smokey flavor made better by the sweet and smokey bbq sauce, the mashed potatoes are smooth as silk, and the burgers are smashing! The friendly and helpful staff will bring you back for more if the brownie doesn't do the trick. Repete costumers for life!

Best BBQ in Ohio! Locally sourced and delicious! Burnt tips are the best thing I’ve ever tasted! Dry rub & St. Louis style, with amazing sauces too!
Also, great bar, local beer, and the kindest staff & bartenders! We even got to meet the head chef, and he shared insightful information with us and how the food is attention to detail.

Customer service is the best in the business. Couldn't ask for a more friendly atmosphere. The great smoky scent and flavors are addictive. When you don't have time to cook but crave a meal of substance, I'll meet you at the BnB.

This place is a hidden gem! They're right in downtown Newark, facing the courthouse on the square. The waitress was super sweet and real on top of everything. The food is a little pricey but it was all worth it! I got pulled chicken with fries and a side of spicy bacon mac n cheese for $15. Most the meals come with a piece of texas toast and a few sliced pickles and it's all just really good. Would definitely recommend trying this place if you're into barbecued food or just wanna try something different in Newark.

This was our first experience here. Absolutely could not have been happier. The staff was amazingly friendly and helpful, the food was beyond anything we expected. The were full with reservations but the manager suggested sitting at the bar. The waitress/bartender was Jenna B. and she did an amazing job. Thank you so much for making this date night one to remember.

Stop scrolling through reviews and just go here to eat some awesome food! They have revamped their menu, and it is amazing! I had their sweet potato burger, it was so good I want to find it's creator and thank them. In fact, when I said that to the manager he sent her a thank you text for me! Great atmosphere and great food, can't really ask for more.

Awesome spot for lunch or dinner - burnt ends, brisket and brews - great beer selection and some of the best BBQ I've ever had! Get the BBQ sampler and split it with a couple friends for lunch, perfect amount of food for 3 and let's you try a little of everything

Visiting from out of town and found this diamond in the rough. Absolutely loved the rustic vibe with culinary eloquence. Staff is very professional and welcoming. Can definitely tell that the professionalism stems from the top. Will be seeking repeat visits in the future amongst my travels. Cheers to the Barrel and Boar crew for their excellent hospitality!
