Riverview Reserve - Licking Park District

Had a great time walking the trails to come to a secluded fishing spot.. lots of shad roaming free. Saw tracks of a big cat and some deer. Great view. I followed the trail closest to the water about halfway up. Opens up into the pics shown below. Happy hiking/fishing/camping/whatever..

Great views of the Licking River. I hiked some of the trails but would like to go back when the trails are not as muddy.

This is a great place to take my dog to, the creek is shallow enough so she can play in it, the trails are well established. It's well shadowed so even when it's quite warm out it's much cooler on the paths.

Other than it being Newark... It's actually well kept. Has a very nice ramp for kayaking. Sand bar and very convenient parking. Closes at dusk.. river is decent for kayaking depending on water levels. Small kayaks 80 percent of the time. Seen lots and lots of quads ATVs side by sides and dirt bikes cruising through the woods. Fishing is good. Multiple species. Caught some nice cats. Few bass. Some saugeye.. nice place.

I wish general public was not so lackadaisical about pitching their litter. Me & the critters are bitter about litter- this isn't Uranus you know.
Very splendid drop for kayak/canoe. River was beautiful, birds galore. Did not do so well w fishing, sure not complaining! Nice, steady current.

Beautiful County park, right near downtown Newark, OH. Ample parking. Excellent canoe/kayak launch ramp on the Licking River. Walking trails. No off-road motorized vehicles allowed.

Good place to drop in a Canoe, Kayak, or Tube. Will take you east to the west edge of Blackhand Gorge parking on Brownsville Rd, about 3-4 hours. There should be less people on this stretch. You could do a longer trip here all the way through Blackhand Gorge to Toboso Rd. Haven't done all-together, but sure it would take 6-8 hours

Keep trash of the ground and outta the water.

Great place , quiet and private , people who come through are very nice .

Beautiful day for fun in the river and trails we had a great time. Now only if people would pick up after themselves
