To summarize the below - Give Brownell Personal PT a chance. Steve cares, is engaged, and frankly seems fascinated by the mechanics of the body- so you can be assured he's invested in your recovery.

A few years back, I wrecked on my bike and herniated 6 discs (2 at the base of the neck, most severely, two in my mid back, the remaining two at the base of my spine) and separated my right shoulder. The year of the accident, I pedaled over 4000 miles. I considered myself fit, and would say I had a decent understanding of my body and how to use it.

After complications from shoulder surgery, I've had chronic spasms at all levels of my spine; worst of all from my neck going into my throat/head/face.

I've had palsy on the right side of my face, issues with hearing on my right side, vision in my right eye (loss of depth perception, persistent vertigo when looking to my right or down, object tracking, etc.) persistent numbness down the back of both of my arms into my hands, as well as my legs, worse-so on the right side.

I went to school for classical/flamenco guitar. I type for a living (IT/coder). My hands were nimble; and for the last few years, they've felt more akin to flippers.

I've had neurosurgeons tell me that I need to get at least 3 levels of my neck fused to *possibly* resolve some of the aforementioned; but also, given the nature of the procedure, I'd likely get additional herniations above and below the affected area, and in the future would need additional fusions.

I've since been to 6 rounds of physical therapy, at 6 different locations. Each stint ranging from 1 to 3 months. I would see minor improvements in balance and strength, but usually at the cost of vision or control of my facial muscles.

I've seen 2 chiropractors, one for 3x a week, for two months. My vision got far worse, as well as my balance.

I've been two 3 massage therapists, two for 2x a week for two months at least each. I got some relief, but never enough to where I could exercise properly to regain strength/balance.

I've been to an acupuncturist, 2x a week (cupping 1x a week) for 4 months. I saw some improvement, but eventually plateaued.

My home has been filled with inversion tables, a vibration plate, kettle bells, ceiling mounted aerial yoga straps, gymnast rings, yoga mats, foam rollers, a weighted vest, a chirp wheel, shoulder braces, neck braces, and a thing called an "Iron Neck".

I had made just enough progress in my recovery to not get too fat, and regained enough mobility to walk my dog, go to the grocery store, and mostly white knuckle through work.

About two or so months ago I started seeing Steve on the recommendation on a friend, and not only was his methodology different than any of the therapies I had tried before, he was *genuinely interested in both my injury and recovery*. This guy would nerd out over the feedback, and was fully engaged the entire session, every session.

First my vision started to recover, then my balance and quality of sleep. It's been a couple months at least now, but this is the best I've felt in 3 years, and I'm hopeful again that I'll make a full recovery without needing more surgery. I have a lot for which to thank Steve.

Steve was incredibly helpful in improving my range of motion, and giving me some therapeutic stretches and exercises to help relieve both a specific injury, and some chronic ongoing pain from previous injuries. His holistic approach to whole body wellness ended up helping resolve pain and tension I wasn't even aware of.

I had been suffering for months with severe hip pain. Steve diagnosed it as being related to thigh muscles not releasing. In one visit I was virtually pain free. I did a couple more just to make sure we had it released completely.
Not only did he fix my pain quickly but he was super professional in his work. He first got consent to touch my inner thigh and made sure I knew that if anything about his touch made me uncomfortable in any way I had complete control to say stop.
Steve understands the inter workings of the muscles, tendons, and ligaments well and can help his clients achieve pain free range of motion improvements. I highly recommend him.

I am an Athletic Trainer and our jobs are to refer our athletes to the right practitoner at the right time. I also own a fitness business, and run an entrepreneur group where i meet and collaborate with many healthcare professionals. I can honestly say the Steven is one of the most sincere and empathetic physical therapist I have ever had the privilege of working with. His attention to detail, calm demeanor and Sherlock holmes style of problem solving combined with a wealth of experience and knowledge make for one of the best therapists in our area. He has often times solved physical problems for myself and people I refer in 1 or 2 sessions. He has a very unique perspective on soft tissue, including scar tissue and has developed techniques that should be studied and added to textbooks for future physical therapists to learn from. He understands the complexities of human physiology and function and spends a great amount of time teaching you what is happening with your injuries and more importantly how to improve and heal. I call him my muscle counselor as I can go in and just have him help me sort through all my past traumas from contact sports, while giving me direct plans of action to complement his treatments. If you are jaded by your experience with insurance based physical therapy protocols- do yourself a favor and book a 1 hour consultation with Steven and you will thank me later. Thanks for being amazing Steven! My wife and at least 10 of my clients all agree! You need to charge more and stop fixing people so quickly;) I had toe pain for 10 years- you fixed in 1 session, elbow pain for 8 years- 3 treatments, he even does some amazing abdominal and pelvic work, chronic migraine elimination and so many other miracles. SINCERELY! Christoper Tolisano ATC. Owner-Best Day Fitness.

I saw Steve after suffering from lower back pain for over six months. I had never had a chronic pain issue and so kept thinking that it would just go away. When the pain didn’t subside, and actually got worse, a friend referred me to Steve. It’s one of the best referrals ever. Steve was able to diagnose the problem on our first meeting and have me perform exercises that gave me immediate relief. He also provided with me exercises and a program I could perform at home. Within weeks my back was better and I am now pain free. I would highly recommended Steve and have in fact referred my husband to Steve to treat his neck and shoulder issues.

I was recommended to Steve by several friends who have had success with his treatments for back injuries. I have had back issues since 2013 and decided to give Steve’s approach a try since my chiropractic treatments had reached a plateau. The work Steve did over the past several months to break up scar tissue along with my at home exercises has allowed me to increase my mobility/movement and to reduce my pain significantly. I highly recommend Steve!

I flew from Dallas to see Steve after hearing rave reviews about his scar tissue removal treatment. As an athlete and former runner, I had developed layers of scar tissue around my achilles and even in my calf muscles which initially developed 7 years ago after training and running two marathons. After just three 90 minute treatments I was able to run my first PAIN FREE miles in 7 years. I've been to SO MANY sports med docs including physical therapists and chiropractors over the years and was absolutely blown away by how effective Steve's treatment was. He also pointed out I have a hip that is 1" higher than the other and told me exactly what I need to do to correct. It's amazing how just three sessions with someone who truly cares and knows what they are doing can have such an impact. Thank you Steve!

Steve is much more than a talented physical therapist, he is superb and gifted. His talents at understanding, identifying and treating ailments goes well beyond anyone I know of. I had a painful back problem for over 20 years. I went to several doctors, physiotherapists, massage therapists and chiropractors. While some temporarily relieved the pain not one was able to identify the problem and treat it.

Steve found lots of scar tissue and within a few hours of treatment I was permanently free of pain. It’s now one year later and I am still pain and symptom free.

He’s a master at what he does and I am eternally grateful for his gift.

Three different people referred me to Steven a few months ago for chronic pain in my neck that I'd had from falling down a flight of stairs many years ago. Sometimes the pain was so severe that I could barely turn my head to the left or look up. I had been to several doctors, chiropractors, physical therapists and massage therapists with only minor temporary improvement. The difference in how loose my neck felt even after a few sessions with Steven was amazing. Now I can turn my head left and right, up and down, without any pain at all. Steven has a very caring attitude towards his clients and you can tell he really wants you to be completely pain-free. He always gives exercises to do at home to help with the healing. He has a thorough knowledge of the body and understands exactly how scar tissue adheres to muscles, bone & organs, and he uses that knowledge in his treatment. I highly recommend him, by far the best Physical Therapist you'll find in this area.

I was due to have foot surgery on Dec 5th; but in 3 weeks prior to surgery, Steve was able to remove enough scar tissue, I canceled surgery! He has also improved my other foot by at least 75 percent, too! I highly recommend him. (My husband started going to him, and Steve has almost rectified his shoulder issues.)

I have suffered from tennis elbow and golfers elbow on and off for years. I have tried every therapy and treatment available - including cortisone shots, PT exercises, laser, etc. All I got was temporary relief.
The personalized approach and unique manual therapy that Steve uses to break down scar tissue has finally provided a long term solution. I am thrilled to be back to playing golf and tennis pain-free.
I highly recommend Brownell Personal Physical Therapy to anyone who is looking for relief from chronic pain.

I thought I would live with the pain in my foot forever while also continuing to be forced to limit activities ( which is what the podiatrist’s diagnosis was). In 3 treatments I have regained a level of mobility in the joint and movement in my foot that I did not think I possible. I am extremely pleased with the treatment and results. Steve is an excellent and caring therapist.

Steve is a physical therapist like NO other!! He uses a novel approach of finding and breaking up scar tissue, which is the cause of pain and inflammation. I have range of motion that I haven’t had in 7 years! I can actually turn my head both ways! And my migraine medication use has decreased.
In just 6 weeks, I’ve decreased from waking Up with DAILY headaches and migraines, to waking up with The headaches And migraines 3 or 4 times a month.
- When you decide that you truly want to stop the pain.
-when you’re sick and tired of going to the “every day” average physical therapist who evaluates you on your first visit, then passes you off to his assistant who will stand and watch you do exercises - visit after visit, and Ultimately you get no long term pain relief,
it’s time to call Steve.
But, really. Why would you wait to call him? I wish I had found him sooner! But, thankfully, I DID find him through a friend.

Steve was an incredible help with my plantar fasciitis in a very condensed period of time as I was heading out for a hiking trip. I highly recommend and will be back with any future issues I may encounter. Can't say enough about the difference he made.

Steve is very professional and explains everything very well. He worked on my tennis elbow/arm and the quick results were amazing. Not your standard PT, Steve works on the root of the problem not just the symptoms.

Brownell Physical Therapy is hands down the best! After being told by an orthopedic surgeon that my neck injury would require surgery, I immediately began looking for PT options. Only by word of mouth did I meet Stephen, and what a miracle to have found him. He saved my life and gave me the use of my body back after years of my life being dictated by old injuries. To anyone suffering from chronic pain, inflammation and scar tissue, I cannot recommend Brownell PT enough. If you want your body back and/or to leave behind the dangerous and addictive opiates and pain medications, then please go see Brownell Physical Therapy! And we’re not talking months or years of treatment here, Brownell PT in most cases will have you outta there in weeks! If you are still not sure, please just call and make an appointment, the first one is free and you can decide for yourself if Brownell PT is a good match for you.
