Advanced Academics Academy

After 15 years teaching in the public system, I finally have found a place where I can teach like I always dreamed. Now that I have discovered Advanced Academics Academy, I hope to follow them into the future of creating a great learning environment for more excited young learners! I have taught more Science and Social Studies in the past month in a half than I can remember being able to teach in a decade! We are actually able to do Science experiments, and fun, hands on, engaging, craft-like activities to activate the students learning experiences. Students LOVE coming to school, and do not want to leave. We hear them tell their parents this! Class sizes are small so teachers can focus on each student's needs, and this also eliminates behavior issues, although with so many fun, engaging activities, the students rarely have any reasons to cause any problems! I was amazed at how well run the school is, knowing it has only been opened a short three years. Students not only learn the major academic courses of Reading, Math, Phonics, Writing, Science, and Social Studies, but also have specials such as Art, Music, Spanish, Dance, and Theme-based makerspace (a bit like STEAM) which incorporates critical thinking skills with LOTS of fun! If you want the best educational learning environment for your child, Advanced Academics Academy is the perfect place.

I can't say enough about this school. Our daughter is in 5th grade, and she has hated school since I can remember. The environment at Advanced Academics is so relaxed, so encouraging and fun that our daughter is thriving in a way we've never seen before. The teachers give the kids a level of control in their learning, and they can move as fast as they want. Our daughter is bright and very creative, and after testing her, they placed her in 6th grade Language Arts. The teachers have already noticed her incredible artistic ability and every day she has something beautiful she's made to bring home. She wears comfortable clothing and doesn't have to deal with bullying at all. It is a non-issue at this school. It feels similar to a home environment; the kids have jobs and they learn how to mop and clean up after themselves. She talks about her day when she comes home, whereas when she was in private school, she came home completely shut down and exhausted.
I would encourage any parent whose kids are struggling in a traditional school setting- whether academically or emotionally- to check out Advanced Academics. This is truly education as it was meant to be!

We are so relieved that we finally made the decision to switch from public school to homeschool with Advanced Academics. One good thing that came from the Covid-19 pandemic is our inclination to dig deeper into the current education system and review all of the options available to educate our child. After multiple discussions with the owner, Lori Lewis, it was clear that she had the same vision of education that we did -- small class sizes, personalized learning, and developing confidence and critical thinking skills that he will carry with him forever.

We were obviously concerned about how our 9 year old would react to leaving his school friends and not having lunch and recess with them, his favorite parts of the school day. But guess what? Not once, has he asked to go back to the public school. He is having way too much fun! He doesn't want to leave when it's time to go! On the other hand, he has made comments about his work being hard, which is great because I know he's being challenged. He has an excellent group of teachers to get him to the next level - HIS next level, not the level that public school says he should be.

I've got to give a shout out to one of his teachers, Miss Evelyn. She found some common ground with him on day one that makes him want to go back each day. She is fun, energetic, and totally gets what the kids are in to these days. It is so refreshing to see and hear your child having an individual conversation with a teacher on a daily basis. You won't get that in a class of 25 students.

My daughter didn’t get anything out of virtual school. She was falling behind and frustrated. I put her in this school and with in no time she was caught up and loving school again. I highly recommend them. Not only do the kids get a lot of one on one they enjoy learning here.

I can’t wait for my granddaughter to be here !! This is a much better alternative than public schools right now !! Small classes, home school environment, I know it’s going to be a great first school year !!!
