BREC Kendalwood Road Conservation Area

Primitive hiking trail is an understatement! The 1.2 mile loop trail is marked with blazers that are quite necessary in some areas. Parking area and a picnic bench are well maintained for a place that's so secluded. Nice to feel like we are actually going out into nature even though we are in Baton Rouge, it's definitely a hidden gem! Can't wait to see the future improvements and trails!

2/26/22 Update: Since this first review, BREC has added two access trails to bayou Manchac with benches that overlook the view. This makes the loop 2 miles. There is an additional trail that cuts to the other side of the loop, bypassing the bayou. There are now boards to walk along in low lying areas, but it is still incredibly muddy after a rain.

Kendalwood is currently closed (April 14th 2024) due to safety concerns (dead trees on trail due to 2023 drought) Check the BREC website before you head to this park

A great place to hang around you can also spot some nudist walking around the forest and near the river

Love the nudist community that live here full of great people. Amazing park!
