Ammending my review from 5 stars to 3 as there is now a cut-through on one side of the park funneling a lot of traffic through it now. There are always a lot of cars, travelling much too fast, not heeding pedestrians, kicking up dust from the new unfinished road and making the air smell like exhaust. The kid side of the park is still fine, but avoid the dog park side if you're a walker; it's dangerous and unpleasant now.

Update: Whatever traffic cut through that was happening before seems to have stopped. Wonderful place for a morning or evening walk. Plenty of spots for kids to play, there's a nice dog area with spots for small and large dogs. They're working on additional walking paths now.

My dog and I had a wonderful time at the dog park today. It was overcast and breezy which allowed the dogs to really run themselves out with over heating.
We also walked around the lake and saw a few nice joggers and a group of kids that loved to pet the dog as we stopped then finished our walk.
The park has many amenities like the dog parks (one for big dogs and one for the little ones), excellent tennis courts, basketball court indoors, and MA y pavilions for family events or just a lunch in the park.

We took our girls (dogs) so they could stretch their legs and get out of the hotel room and went on a trail and they LOVED it!! The park over all was nice and very clean!

One of our favorite parks! Lots of space for kids to run and play, and the playground is great any time of year. During the summer the splash pad is a wonderful spot to visit. There are lots of park benches and seats around the park, though I've frequently wished there were more benches surrounding the playground. The nature trails are also a big hit with my family.

I love to watch my dogs have fun; and they have fun here. It's big enough for Bitsie's Chuck-It runs fully to the south and north with room to spare. East is about half that distance. The sidewalk surrounding the dog park gives Bo plenty of exercise pacing runners, walkers, strollers with babies, and cyclists.

When the sidewalk is clear, Bo hangs out near the south fence which borders the small dog park. The latter is about one-third the size of the big park; and has only one covered concrete pad with a picnic table. It also has a park bench. The main park has two of the covered picnic tables, equidistant apart, and three park benches.

Both parks have a concrete pad away from the covered tables with a tall water faucet and fountain, and at least one plastic baby pool. Waste bags and waste-only receptacles are readily available. The big park has an extra picnic table that's uncovered; and a smaller water fountain area at the In/Out spot.

All covered areas have a time or light-sensitive light that doesn't always work. Since the park is open from dawn to dusk, the lights should not be a problem. Other rules for the park include: no food or drink, no smoking; and no children under 12.

Love the dog park, there's usually a really good pack there. (Edit: I don't know about that anymore as of 2022 actually) it gets busy around sundown especially on the weekends and Sundays are always super busy.

The trails are so fun and easy to walk, well maintained (but be careful after a rain it gets muddy). There's a sweet playground, some tennis courts, and a couple enclosed baseball fields as well as a cute little pond with 3 ducks where you can fish. It's pretty well lit at night (except for the trails and the dog park closes at dusk). We always come out to walk the dog, go to the dog park, play PoGo, whatever. My family loves it!

The Stampley Family Reunion Picnic was held at this park, July 15th. Thank you so much to the young lady that went above and beyond to make sure our event was wonderful. I forgot her name ( long braids)but she was there with us from 11:00 am until we finished. The room and pavilion was just what we needed. Again thanks we appreciate all you did to accommodate us.

They now have walking trails through the wooded area. How wonderful now I don't have to drive 45 mins to an 1 hr to walk a trail. Thank you for doing this BREC

My almost 3-year-old had a blast here, I enjoyed it as well. There's plenty of benches and shade throughout the playground and lots of kids and family friendly people. We will be taking more trips to the park!!

Wonderful large park with a playground, splash pad, picnic pavilions, recreation building, restrooms, dog park, tennis courts, hiking trails, and other facilities. One of only a couple splash pads in Baton Rouge, this is a good park for keeping kids cool in the summer. The first trails tend to be very muddy in spring and wet weather, so wear boots. You can spot a variety of wildlife in the first trails including frogs and snakes.

It's a lovely park with something for everyone. Personally, I enjoy afternoon walks around the park. It's perfect for those trying to earn their daily steps with plenty of signage around to track how far one's walked. Children can enjoy the play grounds and splash pad while people of all ages can venture towards the tennis courts, fishing pond, and dog parks. Community Center (as of June 2019) is being renovated.

Since relocating to Baton Rouge, La this by far is the best park i have lived near in my community in a long while. I can take my large dog and place him in the huge fenced area to run an play with other medium to large dogs. AND I can take my little dog and place him in the small dogs fenced in area to play with other dogs similar in size. There's always poop bags to encourage visitors to clean up behind their pets with a convenient disposal can just below and lots of water bowls and even a few kid sized pools for the dogs to play in when really hot as it always is here! The park also has a very nice walking / jogging trail for those that wish to do so with their dogs or alone for exercise. There is a baseball field, really neat and clean picnic areas and a kids play area, recreational center and very nice tennis courts! Definitely would recommend this place to outdoor enthusiasts since it even has a small pond for fishing. Park rangers are present which is always a good thing!

Forest community park is a really nice family friendly park to include your fur family members. A great place to picnic, get a great workout in and just about anything else you might want to do at this park. There's a nice splash pad for the kids and the staff does an AWESOME job with the maintenance of the park. It's a place where you can go to relax and feel safe.

Our favorite park to bring our fur baby to!! For the most part, we always meet very respectful and knowledgeable dog owners. For those that aren't, we politely 😉 encourage them to control their dog. #PitMomma
