Nice freshwater fishing since there isn't actually much around here. I've been here fall and winter. I just sit at the boat ramp for my catches until I get a kayak. I have more catches on my other phone. Only issue would be the actual restrooms closed in the winter since I'm sure no one likes Porta potty.

Very nice and well maintained loop trail around the lake with distance markers every 1/4 mile.

Most of the more scenic views of the lake can be reached about a mile from the parking lot by going counter clockwise.

Recently refurbished parking lot area. Credit card payment to enter ($3). Only restroom is at the parking lot.

I have brought my mountain bike to this spot for over a year and I will say it is quite a challenge! Amazing spot right outside of town and the wildlife thrives! The park recently improved their parking and now the split at the beginning of the trail is finished. The 7.5 mile ride/walk is extremely fun and the park isn't to crowded! Fishing is great off of the dock and off the peninsula. Me and my dad came home with a full stringer of blue gills and even some bass! There are some challenging parts of the ride/walk including: steep root filled hills, single wood board bridges, roots in general, and lots of bumps. The restrooms are pretty clean most of the time as well. This is great for people who need a nice ride/walk sometimes. Love this place and will come here for the rest of my life! SOOOO GREAT!!!

Great State Park just north of Saint Mary's City in southern MD. Large lake with a 7.5 mile loop trail. Warning - this is a lake loop, not a lake view trail. There are glimpses of the lake from time to time. However, if you goal on the hike is fantastic lake views, than make sure you start the trail by going left at the start. All of the great lake views will be at the end that way. Trail is very well maintained with mileage markets every quarter mile. There are multiple splits, but they all go back to the main trail. Other warning, only restroom is at the very start of the trail.

Great place to walk and exercise. Be aware that the main white trail path is 7.5 miles. For folks that want a challenge, start at the beginning of the white trail path, as that side has more inclines and declines. For folks that want a less challenging walk, take the white trail, but start where the end of the trail comes out to the parking lot. Next, take the lake view path, but make sure you turn back before you get too far back into the woods. Overall, it was a great trail, but it can be very challenging if you are not prepared to walk the full 7.5 miles.

Gorgeous 7.5 mile hike in St. Mary's County. My fiance and I had our first date here and came back this month - exactly one year later - to celebrate our engagement! This time saw two snakes, one of which was a copperhead... Still love this place!

Great lake to fish. There are alot of subsurface stumps as well as above water. They hold the big Bass but are hard to fish because you can get your boat hung up on one. Once you have fished it a few times you learn the Lake.

Great lake, plenty of parking, nice trails, and lots of wildlife. Boat ramps are nice and there are lots of good places to kayak and fish. Bring your own water and snacks because there are no vending machines. There are a few stores less than a couple miles away.

Great park. Unmanned automated gate. $3 per car for MD residents, $5 for out of state. Military and vets should be free per state regs, but couldn’t figure out how that benefit is obtained at the unmanned gate. Call to the posted ranger number went unanswered. Be great if calls were answered or info posted how to obtain access for mil/vets.

This place is a dream. Fishing is ok and can catch some sizeable bass. Parking lot just got re done and with that comes a $3 entry fee from main entrance. Note there is another entrance on Indian bridge road if you plans on biking it’s the best way to avoid the fee. If going on the trail from the main entrance you should go counter clockwise around the lake to get the best views and smoothest terrain.

Great hiking trail, not overpopulated, other hikers bikers and runners are very courteous. Lot of roots so you need good supporting shoes but I enjoy the hike and the view is beautiful.

Charming walking trails with my two dogs (Frenchie and Boston Terrier). The restrooms were clean, along with other dog break spots.
