TLDR:
This person ripped off my boyfriend, accepted payment of $120 for plugging in a $40 obd tool that you can borrow for FREE at AutoZone.

His first mistake was assuming I know nothing about engines.

My car would not start after sitting for about five days in temperatures I am not accustomed to and admittedly about a thousand miles overdue for an oil change. I left it here to attend an event via carpool and when I returned it would not start. First thought is the battery is dead, so we go ahead to try and jump it, it struggles and struggles, the engine rocks but it wont turn over. My boyfriend doesn't know cars but does electric work so he grabbed his tools and we tested the battery. It's full charge, 12v and change. Good battery. We try again several times and the engine struggles hard the belt turns several times and it gives up. It tries way too hard for it to be a bad starter. A bad starter might give you a whirr and quit but often its just going to make a clicking sound. So we check the oil, it's low, very cold and very thick. I added a quart of fresh oil and would you believe it turned over and coughed back to life on the next try. Burned off some gunk and extra fuel from the many attempts to start and then was perfectly fine.

My boyfriend had already called a mechanic and insisted on letting him check it over. This guy shows up an hour later with a battery and when I object he shuts me down and acts offended. He plugs in a basic obd tool that you can borrow from AutoZone and puggs it in even though there was no engine light, he revs the engine super hard and tells us oh the alternator is putting out 14 volts and raises his eyebrow at me. As though 13.5-14.9 isn't normal range. 🤦🏽‍♀I told him I think we're good and he huffs and and replies well clearly I've waisted y'all's time and huffs away.

I said No, I appreciate your time and I thanked him for stopping by. I told my boyfriend to give him a tip and they walked to his truck. He leaves and my boyfriend comes and tells me this dinglberry asked him for a diagnostic service charge of $120 🤯. He literally plugged a toy car reader in and gave me attitude instead of listen. No decent human being would have accepted more than $25 just for showing up. I have worked alongside a variety of mechanics in my life, this one is an absolute scammer. DO NOT CALL HIM.

This place is a rip off company, they are nothing but liars and crooks. Stay away from both of there businesses , they on a gas station next door to the car lot and put water in the gas

Awful business should not be associated with budget. Stay clear away.
