George's Restaurant

While on a trip to Charleston from Myrtle beach, my wife and I wanted to stop somewhere along the way for breakfast. We kinda "winged" it. Just looking for places along our commute.

We decided to give George's a try. Very much a local family run diner feel. Our waiter was great! Everyone was friendly. The food was quick, very good, and inexpensive. It was great hearing and seeing how well the staff knew many of the other "local" diners.

If you want to experience a simple but homely feeling while eating breakfast outside of your house, this is the place. We live out of state, and we decided to have our breakfast here, and we did like it. It's is a simple place but I like their food and service.

Used to be our favorite and the "go to" spot for us. Maybe yesterday was an off day because we did go in for a late lunch, after 1:00 and so many items were not on the buffet, they were filling them up but not very fast. No friendly greeting from anyone, not even our waitress who seemed very tired. Ice cream machine is down, food taste was ok but no upgrades on decor, outside is looking pretty run down also. Buffet price was around $35 for 3 adults. That includes tea and dessert.

Great breakfast buffet and very reasonably priced! The help was very nice and the place had a great country atmosphere. Will definitely go again!

Pleasantly surprise at how good this down home Southern cooking experience. Choice of several homemade desserts. Variety of meats and vegetables offered on the buffet. Will be returning.

The breakfast was great. The waiter was awesome and was over the top attentive. The food was great and the atmosphere was perfect. I had breakfast with my parents and we all enjoyed ourself. This place is definately worth the stop. I will be going back for sure and I’m sure my parents will also.

First time visiting Georgetown and enjoyed trip. We got more than enough for the money spent. Also brought some homemade apple butter and chowchow. Great place to eat and friendly staff. Would recommend to people traveling through.

Didn't get to eat because the bar was closing and the staff was short I wasn't up set because we had a big group and the waitress was nothing short of amazing

While there is not a huge variety, there is enoigh.
The fish and chicken were great. Stay away from the beef.
Plenty to put on your salad and a good variety of desserts.
Fact is, you can't get faster food for these prices and you get a real meal with real veggies here.
Not gourmet and doesn't pretend to be.
Definitely worth the price so a thumbs up.

Very reasonable price! Love the Grilled Chicken Club. Staff is very friendly and this place is kid friendly. My daughter's God mother would sometime go twice a week because it's a place we can go with our kids and not feeling like they are rushing us.

Truly a hometown favorite! I'm sort of a picky eater. These folks have mastered the art of country cuisine. Offerings on a daily basis that are delicious and delivered to your table lightening quick! Service is second to none! Make sure you try their desserts.

This restaurant is a great place to eat at it's family owned and they are really great people.they have fish on Friday if you like it. Country cooking so try it for your self.

Dinner time. Things they do right - pot pie, fried tilapia, homemade mac&cheese with real cheddar on top, fried chicken, salad bar. Salad bar was extensive selection of toppings with a nice chunk blue cheese dressing that wasn't expected, real bacon for the salad bar as well. Price is on the money.

Things they need to improve: 1: instant mashed potatoes, no excuses for that these days (especially since Golden Corral offers real mashed potatoes and they're the buffet standard), if real potatoes are to expensive charge more. 2 Keeping food items hot, don't cook as much fish at a time or chicken so it stays hotter between guests. A couple more healthy addition for entrees would be nice and a low fat dressing option on the salad bar.

Verdict: Great price under $10 includes tea and decent quality. Would recommend and go again.

Addition to review: Noticed some reviewers here complaining about Hair in food and expecting it to be free. Do you people really think the hair in food line works these days? Coming from a restaurant background we know when you want free food and I applaud the management for making you pay. The actual times hair gets in food are so minimal and rare compared to people who make it up and try to get something free. This buffet is extremely reasonably priced so you should be ashamed of yourselves for putting a bad review here when you most likely made that hair up or took your own hair and stuck it there and got mad you still had to pay. Okay rant is over ;-)

Great service and good 'ol home cooking! We both love Crystal Kristen; employees must be treated like family cause never see a lot of turnover. My husband Alfred goes to breakfast 7 days a week before the sun is up. Not me, although invited, I sleep in till 7-8:30 a.m. He likes being pampered by the girls and has a standing order: 3 eggs scrambled with cheese, buttered wheat toast and a pitcher of un-sweet tea.
