Breaktime Tea Lounge & Bánh Mì

Tried it out for the first time today since we were craving Banh Mi!
We grew up near the Bellaire area so we are used to just going to the old favorites, but now we live in Katy, so we were looking for something closer. I can't believe we didn't try it out sooner. Food & drinks were all delicious, we can't wait to go back to try other items.
The surprise star of the show was the cake! I am a carrot cake lover and will try it anywhere that sells it and this one is at the top of my list! And the lady who I assumed was the owner, was so nice! Happy to support this business!

I was really impressed with this restaurant! So much that I came here twice in one week.

The first time that I came was oa whim for lunch while visiting Katy on business. My first impression upon entering was that it was a quiet, peaceful tucked away oasis, perfect for a small break. It was very clean and very well decorated.

I ordered the Đậu hũ chiên (Fried Tofu) and the Chả cá Nha Trang (Fish Cake) Bánh mì. The bread was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I would have liked a little more crisp on bánh mì, but still very good texture. The fish cake bánh mì was tasty even though it was a little on the dry side and I thought it could benefit from a bit more sauce inside, however this was my first time trying fish cake bánh mì. Still very tasty. The fried tofu bánh mì was delicious! First of all, I have had quite a few fried tofu bánh mì in the area. I have to say this rivals the best I've eaten so far. It may be my favorite fried tofu yet. The flavor was superb, the seasoning and sauce were just right. Combined with the crunchiness of the veggies and crispness of the bánh mì, it was very close to perfection. I will definitely order this again. The French fries were a nice addition but may have been a bit overboard for this meal. Still they tasted great. They were fresh and crispy. It was a generous portion, especially for the price.

On my second visit, I came strictly for the Ca phê trứng nóng (Hot Egg Coffee). They offer an iced version and a hot version. I opted for the hot version, only available for dine in. I made the right choice! This was so delightful! I was expecting it to be very sweet but it was not overly sweet, which I pleased with. The creamy egg yolk custard was thick and yet extremely smooth. Combined with the espresso which was just the right strength to balance out the custard, it made for a comforting combination. The mocha powder on top was a lovely finishing touch that added an extra dash of flavor. For this being my first time trying this drink I was thoroughly impressed and will be coming back for more!

Overall, the bánh mì and ca phê trứng nóng were delicious and filling. The vibe was super chill and cozy. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There is also complimentary soup for customers and games to play while you visit. I would recommend this place to anyone old or young to take a break and catch up or just sit and relax. Give this local business a visit and your support. You will not be disappointed!

1st time here for a quick lunch date and was satisfied with my meal. I ordered the Thai Basil Wings and my wife ordered a grilled pork Bahn Mi with garlic parmesan fries. The wings were very tasty, I’ve never had a combo of Thai basil, and were cooked perfectly, a nice crunch. The Bahn Mi was fairly standard, nothing new, a solid sandwich, my only complaint, the crust of the bread had no crunch, I’m used to a baguette with some crunch. The garlic parm fries were very good and enjoyed the texture of the fries, very nice crunchy exterior. The decor is inviting and the service was excellent.

Everything was made fresh and so delicious! We got the popcorn chicken, which was nice and crunchy, beef spring rolls (we can tell it was freshly rolled because it was tender), and vietnamese iced egg coffee

A delicious Vietnamese spot in Katy Asian Town! Vietnamese personally isn’t at the top of my list for cuisines but I do appreciate a good banh mi and that’s exactly what I had. I personally like mine plain (I know blasphemy). However, it was still very good! I just wish the bread was a tad crispier but it was still yummy! My mom enjoy her vermicelli bowl very much as well. Oh, almost forgot to mention the mango tea was soooooo good!! I would love to come here next time I’m in town!

delicious food! i loved the spring rolls, popcorn chicken, and coffee. the menu is extensive and the atmosphere is good.

A great place to stop by for lunch after book browsing in kinokuniya. I've only had the spring rolls (devoured before picture) but the smoky flavor and soft rolls are really a step above other places ice tried nearby.

Ambiance is quiet abs closer to a boba shop though they have a full menu. Great for studying. There at also ready to eat snacks available if you just want something light.

Decided to stop by here on our way back from out of town, was not disappointed. Their home made desserts are certified AMAZING! The yogurt is a must. Wish I would’ve bought more. Mango green tea was perfect and not too sweet like other places, their mini egg rolls were a perfect addition to the vermicelli noodle bowl, I had the shrimp, fish sauce was a perfect blend. Kimchi fries were about a 7/10 for me, could’ve been better if it was a bit spicier but that’s just me.

Excellent Bun Rieu. A good bowl of bun rieu is one of the very best example of Vietnamese cooking you can have. The broth is sweet, savory, tomatoey and satisfying. This place has one of the best version of it I ever had in Houston; highly recommended.

We had a combination ban mi and an egg ban mi with the egg sunnyside up. The bread was fresh and crispy and extra delicious. It was my first time driving around to the other side of the shopping center and I'm glad I did. They even have complimentary soups for their customers. I found a new favorite spot ❤

Ordered the popcorn chicken, Furi fries, banh mi thap cam and a passion fruit tea. The popcorn chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside with perfect flavor. The fries were excellent with the right amount of crunch and toppings. The banh mi bread was delightfully fresh and the ingredients on the banh mi were prepared with the precise balance needed for full flavor and texture in every bite.
The restaurant dining room and bathrooms were super clean and the employees were very friendly and helpful. The owners were on location and said they also provide party platters that I did not see on the menu. One of the owners is from Nha Trang and prepares his hometown dishes of bun cha ca Nha Trang and nem nuong cuon Nha Trang. I will definitely be back to order this for any upcoming parties! Don’t forget to grab a boba tea while you’re there!

Great vibe cute indoor dining area very calming and relaxing. The kimchi fries were amazing, i dont tend to like kimchi but the balance between beef to fries to kimchi ratio was spot on. Not overpowering, very delicious. The pork bahn mi was soft and had great flavor the beef bahn mi was also good. My top choice would be go with the pork it was just better overall more soft but both tasted delicious. Didnt get a chance to try their drinks but will for sure come back to try more! The kimchi fries are a MUST!!!

This tea shop is AMAZING!! Your sinkers (boba or jellies) are included in the price of the drink. Speaking of prices, Breaktime's are hard to beat. The staff was so friendly and was extremely helpful. My fruit tea tasted fresh and they were generous with the jellies. I was able to get in and out very quickly. There's plenty of parking as well. I really appreciate the earlier hours as well!

Stopped in and had the Banh Mi sandwich and also tried the fried shrimp basket. The flavors were fresh and the shrimp was perfectly fried and tender! Their fruit teas are some of the best I have tried in the Houston region. We will definitely be returning.

Found BreakTime after looking for a place in Katy Asian Town to sit with my laptop and get work done. I had visited two other tea spots in the "main" area of KAT. When I walked into BreakTime, I was pleased to find lots of table space with outlets in a quiet environment. They seem new and I don't think people have quite discovered it yet. It was the perfect spot to study, with plenty of space - they were even playing lyric-less, jazzy music (coffee shop vibe).

My friend and I ordered two teas, a Jasmine Milk Tea with egg pudding and the Pandan Jelly tea. I loved that the sinkers are included in the price ($4.50) whereas most places will charge you extra. They even sell milk tea by the gallon/half gallon. We also ordered a banh mi and popcorn chicken. We were very pleased with both; the banh mi was loaded! The popcorn chicken wasn't greasy at all and came with sweet chili sauce.

I definitely recommend this place for studying or even just to sit at one of the couches and read. I want to come back and try the Vietnamese egg coffee. I wanted to try it but it was too late for me to be consuming that much caffeine haha.

I think their pork banh mi was probably the best banh mi I've ever eaten. Just...perfection! Great food, drinks, and snacks. Fantastic service! I really enjoyed the atmosphere too. Would love to come back 👍

Edit: I've come back many times since, and it's always been fantastic! Consistently great food, drinks, and service! Their egg coffee and 5 spice basil tenders are particularly outstanding too.

Stopped for a to go order, and it was speedy. Combo banh mi was delicious. Need to stop in and try more of their stuff. It looks great!

Wife had the beef banh mi. It was really good! Parking is plenty. Service was great! I had a little hiccup, touched my eye with jalepeno hands and died. They helped me out with cold milk and drowned my eye in it and fixed it. Very nice people here. Soups are okay served on the side.

Had really good banh mi, fruit teas, shrimp spring rolls on my visit. October dine in promo was free soup of the day with banh mi! We had hot and sour, was delicious and very fresh. Relaxing decor changes with the season, cool teahouse vibe with mellow unobtrusive jazz piped in. The people were very friendly and fast.

I stopped in for a Passion Tea! The best passion tea on earth. It was so refreshing. There are 5 to 6 different toppings you can add to any drink. I also ordered the spicy chicken wings, egg rolls, and fries, to go. My order was freshly made and everything was delicious. I will stop by everytime I take a trip to katy,tx. Thank you it was the perfect ending to a great day!
