The Barnhill House Toys and Books

Such a great place full of all sorts of novelty toys, games, and books. Every corner and wall is filled with stuff. It is amazing! There were dress up clothes, hobby horses, tons of Little Golden books, puppets, spy kit toys, car games, family games, both the largest and smallest rubber chicken I’ve ever seen. So many fun things to look at. All the games and toys ere imaginative play and non-electronic. I highly recommend stopping by and taking it all in.

This place is a wonderland of toys, stuffed animals and children's books. I always appreciate a store owner that LOVES their store and the merchandise they sell. If you need a hard to find toy or novelty, this is the place to go! For instance, I needed a stuffed llama for my son(strange, but true). This place had 4 kinds! Everyone here is having fun including other customers. Kids here feel like they've died and gone to toy heaven. Everything is of very high quality. Prices are very fair for what you get. Barnhill House Toys is right outside the downtown Brenham shopping area, but well worth the short drive.

The Barnhill House is easily one of the happiest places I've ever been! So much thought and care is put into everything from the toys they carry to the layout of the store. As I walked around, I saw so many things that reminded me of my childhood that I haven't been able to find in other stores. Mrs. Newman does an incredible job of offering products that connect people with each other and with the past. My dad's eyes lit up when he saw the metal firetruck and balsa wood planes I'd brought home. It was definitely worth a detour on my way home!

My husband and I were in Brenham for a weekend event, and happened upon this toy store during some free time. What a great place! It has a wonderfully inviting atmosphere and is stocked with a huge variety of toys. There is something in this store for any child of any age: costumes, board games, puzzles, educational toys, a great selection of children's books, and some of the softest stuffed animals I've ever seen. The owner is very gracious and helpful. If I am ever back to the area, especially with my grandchildren, I will definitely stop in. They would absolutely love it there!

I'm so glad to have found this store! Set up in what used to be her grandparents house, this store is FILLED with toys and sweet family photos.
Prices are right on target with Amazon/Target/etc IF the toy is even sold by those retailers.
They carry many amazing quality hard-to-find brands, like Uncle Goose, HABA, and Tender Leaf Toys...they carry Viking Toys and the throw-back Fisher Price line.
There is SO much to see and even after walking around a few times, I know we missed a lot.

Anyone who says Disney World is the "happiest place on earth" has not been to The Barnhill House. This wonderful store is packed full of toys that you can not find at big box stores, or even Amazon. The Barnhill House is my first stop for birthday and Christmas gifts for children AND adults. One of my favorite parts of this store is that all of the toys and games are very high quality and "made like they used to be" - no cheap plastic here. To top it all off, the owner and staff are the nicest and most helpful folks you will find. This place is terrific.

This toy store is jam packed with some of the best toys, books, stuffed animals, costumes, and hard to find goodies anywhere. I felt like a kid again and had to remind myself I was shopping for my grandkids and not myself. The owner of the toy store(house) was also a very kind person. Thank you for the experience and we will be back soon with the kiddos!

This store blew my kids away! They said it was their favorite part of our stay in Brenham. All of the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. If you have kids and you are in the area, you've got to visit.

While we stayed in Brenham , Texas for a week stopped by this Wonderful Toy, Book, and Doll Shop, The Owner Betsy is quite Friendly and Knowledgeable about her items for sale. If she does not have it I bet she could order it for you. This is in her Grandparents 1960's style home now converted into this Store. Here items for sale are delightful and a nice selection of Items. If you like Madam Alexander Dolls she has those too. If you are nearby such as Houston come on up and buy your children some wonderful things with such a large selection and its a Real Toy Store.

Visited this weekend with our six year old while on a trip from Austin. It was a wonderful store with a huge and lovingly cultivated selection. Tons of books for all ages of child (from Doctor Seuss to Harry Potter) sit mixed in with everything from board games to toy robots to stuffed animals to classic favorites. The selection was diverse and really focused on some unique things you don't find in many toy stores. And the owner was nice as could be (the store was in her grandparents house and so she has a deep and wonderful connection to the space). We go between Austin and Houston a lot and this is the sort of place we'll take a few moments to go out of the way to visit on future trips through town.

#1 shop for toys. Feels like the store from, Home Alone, Lost in New York. Friendly staff and lost of stuff for kids and adults. Some of it's a bit pricey but all in all a great shop!

This is a great mom and pop toy store adjacent to downtown Brenham. We stop by every time we visit. They carry all the great toys that kids actually play with, not electronics. Toys are sorted by age and interests. Even adults will find something nostalgic to take home. Pay attention to the hours, as they are unusual.

This store is AMAZING and worth a drive from anywhere. It is located inside a house and the rooms are FULL of merchandise. From books, puzzles, Brio, to educational toys of all kinds, it is wonderful. While there eat lunch at Must Be Heaven.

I loved this little gem, we have driven by it many times, and finally checked it out. Reminded me of an old Five and Dime store, things everywhere, almost falling on you. And tripping on them. But so many amazing toys and books! We bought a ton for some friends about to have a baby, and found everything they could ever need (and a lot more than they want probably).

This store has it ALL! I purchased toys and books for my nieces and nephews. If you're looking for high quality items that last and the best customer service around, pay a visit to The Barnhill House!

This is my boys' all-time favorite toy store. We visit brenham every couple months or so and they always ask to come here! They offer a huge selection of toys, ranging from educational to pretend - play. Books, games, puzzles, electronics, outside toys, and more. It's a cozy environment that draws you in and keeps you wanting to look around the next corner for what's next! One of my favorite things about Barnhill is that they have an excellent selection of your good ol' fashioned classics! I highly recommend adding this awesome shop to your brenham plans!

They have a bunch of older type toys. Tin cars, robots, and stuffed animals. It's a wonderful place to shop for that hard to find gift. You can't help but feel like a kid when you are in there.
