Montgomery Street Cafe

The perfect small town cafe experience. I was only visiting Fort Worth for a couple of days for a concert, and all I wanted was a good, simple, down-home breakfast, and that's exactly what I got at the Montgomery Street Cafe! The scrambled eggs were just right, the bacon was crispy, and the hash browns were awesome! And the atmosphere was equally great, my kind of place! Last year in Houston, I stayed in a 5-star hotel and ate breakfast in the restaurant there, and it wasn't nearly as good as this place. The food at Montgomery Street Cafe reminded me of how my mom would make breakfast back home in Indiana. :)

Real good cooking and nothing phony about this place. Attentive and friendly service. Tiny, crowded, clean but zero upscale anything. I wanted a foreign visitor to see real American things and this was one. They cook bacon right which is pretty darn unusual.

I had breakfast here yesterday and let me tell you it’s one of the best breakfast I’ve had in a very long time! Everything tasted great! The eggs actually had flavor, the bacon had flavor the gravy was perfect. My entire meal was around $8 bacon, eggs, a pancake biscuits and gravy and orange juice. I live three blocks from Paris coffee shop and I will gladly be driving to Montgomery St. Café for now on. Paris tastes like hospital food compared to Montgomery St. I can guarantee you will not be disappointed by the service or the food.

We eat here most Mondays after delivering Meals on Wheels. Not many diners left around that have good home cooking well this on does. Really small inside but they do
Have counter seating. Being across from Dickies Arena they do get lots of stock yard traffic. Breakfast is always delicious but my favorite are the lunch specials and burgers. Just a good place to stop and get a belly full. I think we’ve had the same waitress for about 5 years!!!!!

This is like a pearl in the middle of the desert or like a Time Machine ! Really nice place well maintained without losing the original stile. To be honest the best sandwich I have ever tasted, was super simple but perfectly balanced ! Attended by the owner 💯

My son took me here - never been before and probably drove by it a thousand times in 30 years I’ve lived here. It is a hole in the wall restaurant except it isn’t! Retro atmosphere, cozy with friendly staff. I had the best cooked omelet I’ve eaten since I was in the service. Great food and reasonably priced.
Most notable was the mix of people eating here - all types; people with money, people without all enjoying the breakfast.
I’m coming back and can recommend this little cafe to everyone.

Can't say enough. Been a Fort Worth kid my whole life and finally found my way in. The menu is full of classic, Texas breakfast and lunch standards that are executed hot, fresh and fast. The place immediately has a lived-in feel that makes you feel like you're a regular who has a great secret about a hidden gem. The service was at all times ahead of our needs. I got coffee the second before my brain told me I needed it every time. Honestly, our order went in and came out looking so good so fast that I didn't even get a picture of those crispy hash browns before I demolished my plate. A must-go, should-support and come-often kind of place.

Amazing food, 12$ steak meal for what should be 20-30. Yalls cooks are A+. This goes for all their breakfast as well.

Great food great service but the building is really small and not a lot of room but worth the wait if you need to wait! Delicious food for sure reasonable prices!!!

It's a restaurant with a hole in the wall, but it's not! A comfortable, retro setting with nice staff. Since I was in the service, this was the greatest cooked omelet I've ever had. Delicious cuisine at a fair price.

I'm consistently impressed with this breakfast joint's quality and service. You simply must try their freshly squeezed orange juice. And let's not even talk about their amazing scrambled eggs!

Excellent place spent a week in fort worth from England and this little
diamond of a cafe has the best omelette and cinnamon toast anyone could ask for.

Super cute little place. Staff were very nice. And the food was yummy!

A true time capsule. There were 4 waitresses and all were friendly, hard working and cooperating with each other. Customers were from to older and everyone was enjoying meals. The food was cooked perfect, plentiful servings, hot and very good. Coffee was some of the best we have had. Prices were more than reasonable. Years ago I ate here alot as I worked close. The only change was the faces. Try it.

This place has been around for forty years and the coolers that chill the drinks are even older. The best breakfast I ever had, biscuits is made from scratch there's three strips of bacon and not two. And the gravie was the creamiest I've ever had. Two people each received two eggs three strips of bacon or sausage hash brown are grits biscuit gravy that was just a little over$15 I never buy drinks because of the prices unfortunately it is the same here coffee will set you back $2.50 but that is with free refills. Can't wait to go back to try their open face chicken fried steak sandwich with gravy poured over the sandwich and french fries.

Place is so good! It's you typical old diner. If you are trying to eat healthy then don't come here. Their biscuits and gravy are amazing! We also came in for Fried chicken Friday had their chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, and Mac and cheese (yummy) we will be back for sure!

Since 1949, The Montgomery Street Cafe has been dishing up a great, affordable breakfast.

At 8:30 on a Thursday morning, there was a table for two available. This is good since there's 5 booths, 6 tables, and 7 barstools. It gets crowded early, then drops off after 8:00.

The Breakfast Special was about $6, and included coffee, two eggs, 3 bacon strips or 2 sausage patties, 2 biscuits and gravy, and hashbrowns or grits. That's a deal!!

Service was prompt, friendly, and attentive to the coffee.

They are open for breakfast and lunch, serving the typical fare, with CFS, burgers, and sandwiches. Therre's nothing fancy or eclectic about the menu. It's basic Southern food.

Best breakfast in fort Worth. Definitely a hidden gem. Bacon always light and crispy and the pancakes omg! Better than ihop
