West Bouldin Creek Greenbelt

West Bouldin Creek Greenbelt is a relatively short trail section with a couple of small loops. There are portions of this trail next to Bouldin Creek and the railroad tracks. Bouldin Creek was once a perennial creek, but now only flows during rains or very wet years. Along the trails there are several points of interest including: a creek crossing, old masonry that looks like the remains of a well, and varying terrain. If you're in this area of Austin, it's worth a stop for sure.

It's small but a fave patch of greenbelt due to its proximity to my house and how surprisingly peaceful it is considering it's along one of the busiest streets in town.

Wonderful little entry point to the greenbelt. It has a spring that has been partially enclosed with stonework to direct the flow into the creek; some wonderful stepping stones across the creek as well as limestone chunk steps up both sides; and beautiful limestone chunk seating closer to the street. (Keep your pets on a leash. I have not seen any, but others in the neighborhood have seen 1 or 2 coyotes at different points along the creek.)

This truly is a hidden gem. For more of a hike, start at the north end of the greenbelt off of Post Oak. As you go south the terrain flattens out for more of a nature-walk vibe. There are multiple trails to choose from, each with unique characteristics. It's not a large area, so you could explore all the trails in a couple of hours. My dog absolutely loves it. Thanks to all the local volunteers that clean up and maintain the park!

It has lots of forking paths and it can feel very quiet and secluded in parts. Not a very long trail but a nice short hike in the middle of the city.
