Oh, yeah. Ordered some pork ribs with fries, slaw & fried okra as sides. So delicious! The BBQ sauce was a nice touch. Great flavor. Peppery, tangy and perfect for my plate. Gonna eat some Pecan Pie now. Yum!

My boyfriends family and I wanted some barbecue after visiting Austin! We were a total of 6 on a Sunday night, and the staff were super kind and accommodating. I enjoyed a chopped brisket sandwich with jalapeños. While the rest of the family had a burger, ribs, and sides (potato salad hit the spot). We ate outside and just hung out.

I've been stopping at Chiefs when I pass by for about 10 years. The chopped beef sandwich has always been on point. The staff seems happy over the years and ten to stick around longer than expected. It's always the same experience. I'm driving passed this area of austin and I See chiefs! I stop in, I drive home satisfied. I never seek it out but it's there right on time. That's why I would elect Chiefs as one of the lesser known restaurants to keep on the radar. Numerous gems line the austin infrastructure. It's to those gems that we owe Austin's originality and ease of living. Keep Austin weird and alive!

Very impressed with this “hole in the wall”… very generous on portions, and great prices.

The food surprised me more than anything… when I walked in, I knew it was either going to be amazing or awful lol… it was definitely amazing.
You’d think there wasn’t anything special about a simple baked potato, but it was hot and cooked to perfection with an amazing texture. The Turkey also had an amazing flavor! The patty melt was a masterpiece.

Ignore the bad reviews, and give this one a shot! Most of the bad reviews were from long time customers with one bad experience, but there’s a reason they kept going!
I will be back! 10/10 recommend

Me and my grandpa have been coming to Chiefs for years now…at least since 2017 for me. Probably earlier for him. He always gets the chopped brisket sandwhich and I’ll get the sliced Turkey with fried okra and a sweet tea. Same great crunchiness and taste every time, and the sweet tea is my favorite part! Love the staff as well, everyone is always so friendly and they have some badass movies going all the time!

Their customer service was top tier, very friendly and informative. Their bbq was good, and you can tell their sauce is fresh and homemade.

Absolutely one of the best barbecue places in Austin Texas. And their desserts are to die for. It is family-owned, locally owned and they treat you like if you belong there.

The staff are very nice and helpful.
I had a flat tire and had to leave my truck there over night. When I went in to ask if it was ok for my truck to be parked there, they were so cool, she even wished me luck and to be careful.
The Smell of the BBQ was so good I can't wait to fix the tire and go in to eat some brisket!!!!
Great little hidden gem!

Ordered twice in one week from Chief's, so good! The sausage and brisket were delicious and I highly recommend the beer battered fries! We'll be ordering again soon!

I grew up in South Austin and have been going to Chiefs for nearly 20 years.

Over the years they've not only been the only business to survive in that location, but their BBQ continues to get better and better. In fact, their pork ribs are some of the best dry-rub ribs I've ever had and I simply have to get them every. time.

Their sliced brisket sandwich is a Hoss, and well worth a try. It seems like 1/3 to 1/2 pounds of sliced brisket (or more sometimes) with just a touch of their sauce (thin, vinegar-based sauce with a black pepper/paprika/dry mustard flavor with a hint of sweet). The buns are always fresh, toasted and buttery, which I think makes the whole package so much better. It's as if Whataburger made a brisket sandwich.

I will say the brisket is not as trimmed as some may like, so if you prefer flavorless diet brisket then you might want to cut off the trim, or perhaps concede your dignity and ask for lean/trimmed brisket.

Sides wise, my wife seems to enjoy the staples: beans, potato salad, and fried okra. I'm a picky eater so I go with the beer fries which are beer-battered, steak-cut fries. If you prefer others, they have a lot to choose from.

Anyone that has ever smoked BBQ knows that you have your good days and you have the rare less-than-good days. Chiefs is no stranger to this, but if you happen to have a bad food experience then I urge you to try, try again.

If you have a taste for an East coast Burger this is the place to go, if you have a taste for brisket burger, this is the place to go... and their beer battered fries, heaven. The fam loves this place, I did not even know about it until recently because it's like a small hole in the wall establishment. And we know about those small mom and pop places they usually have some good ish. This is no different... I'm in love

I liked the food! Very tasty. The atmosphere is kinda charming.....authentic whole in the wall Texas BBQ. We had the pork ribs. They had a great smokey flavor and perfectly tender. You didn't even need BBQ sauce. My only complaint is, although the barbecue sauce was tasty, I wish it were a bit thicker. I also had the beans, potato salad and fried okra. They were all very tasty as well. I am a major fried okra fan! It was perfectly fried and crunchy.

Wonderful! Had the Barney. It was too chicken fried steak patties with jalapenos and grilled mushrooms. Stuff was so good and a barbecue sauce that went with everything as well as the beer batter fries I've had in a long time. The party melt was also wonderful
