If you’re driving by Birmingham as a baseball or history fan, Rickwood Field is a MUST SEE. Three gentleman were our tour guides (perfectly fine to see self-guided) and they were so knowledgeable about the field’s history and preparations for the 2024 Rickwood Field. We spent an hour taking it all in, getting great pictures, and imagining what the ballpark would be like in the 1910s-60s. Highly recommend.

What a gem! We took a tour of this park and I want to go back for a game. We scheduled the tour through their website. There is plenty of parking on a non game day in the lot across the street. The tour guides share about the extensive history of the park and its significance in Birmingham. They have a small museum and gift shop.

There is so much history at this field; it is like stepping back in time. Even better, baseball teams from youth leagues through college and pro teams continue to make history here, playing games and tournaments during the season, which makes this a superb living history museum. My son has played here several times over his 10 years of playing baseball and it is a treat to watch each and every time. A must see for all baseball and history fans.

Great Ballpark, Tons of history. If you can get one of the members of the Friends of Rickwood too give your a tour, do it. Randy gave us a tour and I could have listened to him all day. If you're a baseball fan you must see this gem of a ballpark outside Birmingham.

I will ever be able to express the amazing day and love of America’s oldest ball park to ya’ll. Came in town for a tournament and we’re blessed enough to play here. Gerald Watkins, thank you for the tours, the stories and sheer hospitality. If you love baseball GO. Mama Von… best BBQ Rib sandwich ever! There’s a small museum to enjoy for Free, so if compelled donate to help support fields. Neighbor hood is not a little rough but the respect of this stadium shows. So much history.

We are visiting for our sons baseball tournaments. This was definitely a treasure that I was not aware of before we arrived. I saw online that it was the oldest functioning professional stadium in the US, and of course we had to check it out. I tried calling the number listed on Google, but it is disconnected, so we thought we would take our chances and go anyway. When we arrived we were not sure of where to park or if it was open. We quickly discovered a gate that was opened with a welcoming man who told us we could park inside of the fence area behind the grand stands. We asked him if he could tell us a little bit about the park and it turns out he was actually the one in charge. His name was Jabreil, and he explained all of the history while leading us through the stadium behind the scenes and on the field. He actually allowed our son and his teammate to play Catch with some of the antique mitts that were in the little museum area. Jabreil made our experience so fun by asking questions and he even gave a free t-shirt to my husband for getting one of the questions correct. My son threw a pitch from the pitching mound and it was so special to imagine all of those baseball greats who played there. Apparently this field has been selected to host the 2024 field of dreams game next year for the MLB, so that will be fun to watch it on TV and know that we have been there. I highly recommend visiting this piece of our nation's history and it's authentic little bit run down state. Definitely a iconic baseball moment. *Thank you, Jabreil for the personable tour.

This place is incredible. Visited Bham last April and groundskeeper gave us a tour. The history is just incredible. The field is well kept and the original places like dugouts and press box are amazing to check out. Wish I could watch a game sometime here. If you get a chance pay a visit to America’s oldest ballpark.

It was under renovation but I snuck in through the construction entrance and took a few pics. Then I was chased out. I felt like a kid who got caught sneaking into the ball game!! You could feel the history.

A true piece of American sport history! Founded in 1910 the oldest baseball park in America. Host to the who's who of baseball. You owe it to yourself to experience this place in your lifetime.

This is a true Birmingham treasure! I have been in Birmingham all my life and had never been. The baseball history here is incredible and second to none. Holds the title of America oldest ball park. I went with a group, we had access to everywhere in the park except the press box, and i took over 100 photos! I already want to go back and photo again! If your visiting town, or have lived here forever, you need to come appreciate Rickwood, its a treasure!

What a cool experience. We had the place to ourselves. Got to walk around the entire complex and give ourselves a tour. The gift shop had some really neat pieces of history and we were able to get some hats for our boys. If you’re a fan of baseball and it’s history, swing by. It might appear closed from the outside but if the gate on the side is open and there’s cars in the gravel parking lot, go on in. You’ll be glad you did.

100 % worth the visit if you are a baseball or americana fan. we visited the stadium on a week day while there was no game and we were able to park right next to the stadium and walk into the bleachers for free. getting to see a free historical monument in the US is not an every day occurrance so I definitely recommend it.
There are still all the old style adverts and the field is kept in mint condition

I came for a wooden bat baseball tournament for my son. And it is eerily cool!

I used to come to Barons games here when I was a kid and I always remember there was a very old black woman selling bags of peanuts sitting in a chair.
It was weird to see a lone chair sitting in roughly the same spot as she used to sit.

Was disappointed when I saw where my son was going to play today and then researched it. Now, I feel it is an opportunity.

Went to the Classic. What a great venue to catch a ball game. The way baseball was meant to be watched.

Everyone we met was kind and helpful. The groundskeeper helped us, the guides told us fascinating stories and showed us around the museum, and we enjoyed touring the stadium. A must-see for baseball fans and history buffs.
