Mill Island Park

Quiet place along the Kennebec River, perfect for family activities.

There are a few picnic tables, one of which is covered, a small playground area, and lots of room for playing with your doggies. A few grills available for cookouts. Several species of trees provide shade and enhance the spacious green space.

There is hot and cold water in the spacious restrooms, great for after meal clean ups.

I love the cathedral like setting formed by the tall old railroad trestle made of thick dark and rusted beams on one side and the tall and stunning arc of trees in several varieties that circle the lush green and well kept lawn. The enclosed space has a central tall tree that is trained and further covered in ivy to enclose a shaded hiding spot that contains a nice picnic bench. There are several other nice benches throughout that offer quiet views of the Kennebec River or shaded views of the inner lawn for book reading or quiet reflection. The whole place has a warm and open feeling that instantly puts you at peace and inspires children to want to explore every nook and cranny, something you can easily do in an hour but be prepared to come back and spend more time in the near future because you will want to return for a more idle walk or lingering picnic. A nicely kept blockhouse with restrooms and a solid swingset make this an ideal stop with children. Don't forget to walk the loop trail at the far end of the lawn. It is not very long, nicely maintained, and takes you down to a very scenic section of the Kennebec River.

It's a nice park. There are restrooms except in winter. It is along the river. Can bring pets on leash. There's a swing set. There are picnic benches and built-in charcoal grills. Clean. Ample parking. Even has a gym and several pokie stops.

Great local park, hidden on an island in the middle of the river. Walking trails and tons of info on the former mill and trains that once covered the island. Nice spot for anyone who wants to escape from the city, and it's dog friendly too.

Great place for me to walk my dog. Beautiful park. Unfortunately there is a sink hole that they just quartered off instead of filling. And there is way too much graffiti.

Small Park, large field, small Trail. Almost always quiet, paired with picnic tables and mini grills that require you bring charcoal adds up to a perfect place for lunch or an afternoon before 1 or for 15. Although if you actually brought 15 people you might need to bring extra tables. Also there's five pokestops and 5 portals pokestops R4 Pokemon go and portals R4 Ingress so it is a great place to stop if you play either of those games.

Great place to walk or bring kids to run around. Not much of a play structure. Does have BBQ grills and public restrooms. Closed at dark.

Love it there. Can sit and watch the water. Take walks with family. Just a happy romantic, family oriented place.
