This bookshop is bigger than it looks! Genres are clearly marked by sections (everything from manga and D&D, to bargain books and adult nonfiction). There's a nice selection of cards, as well as gifts and toys for sale.

The inside is quite literally wall-to-wall bookshelves, with books towering overhead. Any bibliophile will feel quite at home here and be able to spend a fair amount of time browsing. If you're visiting Portland, you can get a great souvenir (or commute-home book).

Great bookstore with local main products. Stopped here to pick up a reusable tote bag before starting the day shopping! Plenty of areas to sit and read.

This is a fun, well-run bookstore with some stationary as well. They have a great fantasy selection!

Stopping by Sherman's is always a delight. I never come away empty handed, either for myself or with gifts. The staff is always friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I like that I can order books online if they don't have them in stock and then go pick it up, instead of ordering from a big box company. A day that I get to visit Sherman's is always a good day.

Going to Sherman's was cool. The place is packed with books, and as always when we go to a bookstore, we came out with some books. I can't complain. Everywhere you look, books and more books - very happy place. The staff was nice, even when I asked after maybe placing my book there - I felt like I was imposing, but then the person behind the counter asked what my book was about, and it was a cool exchange. Nice spot. Easy to find. Full of good things.

This is the best book store! They had such a great selection, the staff picks were on point, and the signage is HILARIOUS. Definitely make a stop here when in Portland!

Great choices for books of all types. I was highly impressed by the extensive section of Maine related books and cookbooks - I found a great one called Full Moon Suppers with seasonal recipes specific to Maine for each month. On top of this there are all sorts of little treasures like maps, pencil cases, lucky charms, postcards, journals, decorations, and more. Fell in love with this place from the moment I walked in and staff is always super friendly.

Such a cozy little book shop! Theres so much packed in here! We always love going into Sherman’s and just enjoying the vibe. Staff is always wonderful. Lots of books to check out and local made gifts!

I went in here to look for a journal and was pleasantly surprised by the little trinkets and keepsakes they sell! I found what I was looking for as well as well as some great calendars and nick-nacks. There are also a lot of books of all varieties, and the staff is very sweet.

Such a fun bookstore! I could walk around in there forever. They have nice little journals/magnets/candles/etc. too.

What an awesome bookstore! I have never seen anywhere near such a huge and impressive selection of middle grade books, I hope they eventually catalog everything they have for sale on their site in an easy to research way without already needing to know the title or author because they had so many I have never heard of and would have no idea how to re-find. Their kids and young adult section is so impressive I could easily spend a fortune there for birthdays and christmas if they had a website that made it easy to browse. I wish I lived near enough to visit regularly!

There were a variety of books, puzzles, games, stationary supplies and other products in this store. Everything was neat and organized making it easy to find anything available. The staff members were extremely friendly and conversational. They gave me some terrific recommendations of what to do in town. I highly recommend people visit this store while in Portland.

Great store. Loved the layout and the way they displayed their books. They were easy to shop for a reader who wants to browse. Also very helpful when we couldn’t find something. Ended up buying a book and a Maine souvenir here, too. They had a nice selection of gifts.

I went in with my daughter last night having never been in. Such a huge selection of books (especially graphic novels!) and lots of other small little gifts, trinkets, and local goods! Staff was super friendly!

I stumbled upon this place last night while looking for a place to eat and luckily they were open for another and I just had to look. The place was super clean and well organized. Despite loving smaller bookstores, they typically don't have a wide selection. That was not the case here. They had so many books and great selection The staff were super friendly and I would just live to go back before I leave Maine in 2 weeks.

A fabulous place to check out with kids. Apart from the books, they have quality and quite stuff that you don’t usually find abs very reasonably priced too! Loved their notebooks and cherry wood bookmarks.

Not to mention the service is fantastic.

I love a good independent bookstore, and this is one. Great place to visit!!
