The Whole Grain Bake Shop

Such a nice, lovely place! After we parked, we walked by the side window and the lady smiled at us right away! Spent about $23 total on a cup of tomato quinoa soup, 3 cupcakes and 4 whoopie pies (you can check the menu/prices on facebook). The soup took me by surprise! A lot of these specialty place's soups are unsalted gruel. It was delicious! I wished we'd bought double. The whoopie pies came cold and were delicious. The cupcakes (like all gluten free pastries, pretty much) were a little crumbly, but had a delicious chocolatey aftertaste. The soup was definitely the star of the show though. We bought more for our long trip home. Great! If you have allergies or other dietary requirements and a couple extra dollars for some nice treats, this is a great find. If you want something specific or large quantities, I think it probably is something you'd want to organize (call I suppose?) ahead of time - when we went in, someone had just cleared out their stock. It is also not in the basement of a church - it is a storefront, don't be fooled by old reviews. She accepts cards, but cash is much better for any small business because of transactional fees. Would return again!

EDIT: Did return again. Holy cow the gingersnap cookies are not messing around. They don't taste gluten free at all. Added some pictures that should show up soon. Thanks again for a great experience!

Just stopped in for the first time as a vegetarian with celiac disease. The employee was very friendly and easy to talk to and the business was super cute inside. I got a smoothie and some chocolate chip cookies that were fantastic! I’ll definitely be coming back.

Best gluten free breads and goodies around! My husband is not gluten free and he prefers Kelly's gluten free bread over any regular bread! She also makes doggie treats that our fussy dog loves! Highly recommend checking out this bakeshop even if you're not gluten free! 😊

Stopped by on our way through town, so glad we did! Grabbed a gluten free blueberry coffee cake that was DELICIOUS, could not even tell it was gluten free!! Everything looked good, very clean shop, easy to park next to building. Highly recommend

Excellent gluten-free and vegan options. Creative tastes like banana bread cookies. Can order ahead. Convenient , heartwarming location - St Patrick's church on the corner of North Main St in Brewer. Also available at farmer's markets at the Bangor Grange on Wednesdays and Saturday at the greenhouse on Buck St.

I've been gluten free for almost three years now, but I miss bread terribly so I've set out to find a sandwich bread that I like. The sandwich bread I got here was immaculate!!! The owner was so nice as well. My sister loved the cookies, but the real star is the bread that I am now hooked on!!!

Thank you so much ladies! I was blown away by the quality of the baked goods! This place is so MOIST and the flavors OMG Some of the best GF and vegan baked goods! They also share the love by having many flyers and magazines around for resources on other GF and vegan places to eat in the area! The decaf maple coffee was amazing, hot , fresh and made to order, with oat creamer :) ! Signature Maine Candies too....I plan to go back for more candies for gift baskets..Loved it!! Ill be back soon!

We haveappened by the Whole Grain Bakeshop and went in because the outside was so inviting, then found the inside clean and inviting as well...Lisa was sweet and personable and the variety of goodies we picked out were top notch. Clearly quality ingredients, all baked by Lisa, with outstanding flavors and flavor combinations. We are not gluten free or dairy free but you don't need to be to enjoy this bake shop! We will be visiting again!

Stopped for some of Kelly's yummy squash soup, and left with sandwich buns, dinner rolls and chocolate cookies too! We enjoyed the rolls with our supper last night, and of course the chocolate cookies are gone! Love the bake shop.😊

The molasses bread tastes like it has gluten in it, possibly the highest compliment I could give lol.... seriously the most amazing gf food I have had so far and the owner is super friendly!

I absolutely love this place. The whoopee pies and cupcakes are outstanding. Recently, I tried the citrus/lemon bread, and I am not a lemon person… AND IT WAS unbelievable . So delicious. The desserts are fantastic for everyone. Thank you Whole Grain for existing.

This is a most fabulous place. The shop makes up all sorts of baked goods and goodies for folks with dietary limitations. But everything tastes so good that you can feel comfortable buying it even if you have no restrictions. Everything is made right in the shop. The only downside for customers is things sell out very quickly. The answer? Go early and often.

Kelly is very nice and pleasant to talk with. Just tried her ginger snaps and they are delicious just what I expect in a ginger snap but it's gluten free.
