Sprague's Lobster

This is a no-fuss, outdoor, order-at-the-window type place offering lobster, lobster rolls, chowder, and casual food where you sit at picnic tables and pick up your food when your number is called. We went back twice and loved it! Had twin lobsters and chowder without the fuss or added expense of being in a restaurant, and it was our most enjoyable place to eat. I would probably go there every day if I were in the area!

Perfect roadside stop for the freshest catch! The lobster roll was perfect, with choice of butter or Mayo (or both) and the steamers were also very clean and tasty. Didn’t wait too long in line (Oct 1st around 4:30pm) but it is cash only so be aware! The staff is awesome, food is great, and seating with a view overlooking the water can’t be beat! Worth it!

Wonderful customer service! It was sprinkling out and a young lady came out and dried off a table and the bench for us. The food was ready quickly and absolutely amazing! My lobster roll was served plain with a side of melted butter so that I could add as much as I wanted. Perfect! The best lobster roll I've ever had! The French fries and fried green beans were very good too!

Great service and worth the wait Lobster! This roll was amazing! Saw this spot on way from Portland to Bar Harbor and made a point to stop here in way back through. About an hour in all with the line! But make no mistake! It is worth the wait! Bring cash! No cc/debit cards.

Spacious outdoor seating, super generous portions of lobster in the roll, and delicious French fries. We ordered, were served, and ate while people at that “other” place across the street barely moved in line. But it makes for great people watching while enjoying a great meal.

Drove past this place in the middle of the night and decided to come back the next day and glad I did. The food was fresh and the staff was friendly. This is the only place I have found in New England that has bacon free clam chowder, and it was extremely good. The atmosphere was also great being right next to the water enjoying my meal. They are cash only, but there is an ATM on site if needed.

The lobster roll was amazing! Good amount of lobster! The clam chowder also had great flavor. Would definitely Recommend :)

Absolutely incredible food and experience. Stopped here two times during our family vacation. The first time we missed service but the staff were exceptionally nice and let us place an order still. We ordered a lobster roll, crab roll, clam chowder, and a lobster dinner. The lobster roll was delicious and the star of the meal. However, the crab roll should bot be overlooked, nor the chowder. It is also a very puppy friendly location, with water bowls filled there. Overall. Highly recommend, and the view is one of a kind!

Our initial plan was to go to Red’s. However after waiting in line for 30 min and barely moving, we found out the wait was 2-3 hours just order. No way! Decided to go across the street to Sprague’s. The setup was exactly the Maine vibe we were looking for! One of the best lobster rolls we had on our trip. Absolutely delicious! Full of lobster! Not much of a wait. Not to mention the ice cream next door was a nice final touch. Highly recommend! 🦞

A fabulous little stop on the roadside. Important to note it is cash only but they do have an atm. The lobster rolls were amazing. You could barely see the roll. I ordered the clam chowder. It was more of a runny base than creamy and had big chunks of potato. It tasted good, but not what I picture when I think of clam chowder. Only waited about 10 minutes for our food. Great stop for lunch!

Went there 2x and was not disappointed! Their clamcakes were amazing, but the lobster roll was sublime!🦞

This place is great. Located right across the street from a certain popular lobster shack with a line that is usually just not worth it. Better setup over at Sprague's, right by the water, plenty of seating, and great ambiance as they prepare everything fresh. Rolls are served naked as a newborn with choice of mayo or butter.

Spragues was so delicious! Great spot with outdoor seating and fantastic food . Best lobster roll i ever had - stuffed with meat! I watched the people across the street wait in line at Reds for an hour plus while i just sat there and enjoyed my meal! What a great place!

Great lobster rolls and fried green beans! Lobster roll was overflowing with large chunks of lobster. Fried green beans were hot and flavorful.

What amazing service! Amazing atmosphere!! SPECTACULAR FOOD!! A must go to when in Maine. I had the Lobster roll with fries and a side of butter. My cousin had the same and also had the crab fritters. Amazing. All around 10/10 . I WILL BE BACK!

Not a bad place at all. Really good French fries and the chowder was good. My lobster roll had plenty of lobster on it. No wait and plenty of seating. Even though it was a little cold we enjoyed the visit.

Not gonna lie, our initial plan was to go to Red’s. We got there at 11:30am on a rainy weekday and the line was already around the block. We waited in line about 30 minutes and only moved about 10ft. We figured that there was no way this place could stay in business across from Reds and not be good so we left the line and ventured over.

There was a short line that moved quickly. Staff was very polite and kind. Lobster roll was amazing. More than 1 lobster per roll and lots of juicy claws. Option of hot butter or Mayo. I went with the butter. Clam chowder was very good but not amazing. Got an amazing seat with a view. No regrets on our decision to bail on Reds.

The lobster roll is absolutely delicious. Be aware, the meat does come cold. It is piled high and overflows the lightly toasted buttered bread. No lettuce or onions— just bread, meat, and garlic butter. A pure New England delicacy as it should be! Compared to your usual tourist stops (such as those in Bar Harbor), it is also a terrific value at just $24 (market price as of October 16, 2022). Unfortunately can only give 5 stars!
