Major Hardware Supply

This hardware store was one of the first places in town that I visited when I moved to town a year or so ago. I had a lot of little repairs and home improvements to do, so I knew I needed a place close by to rely upon. I made it my business to meet and introduce myself to the owner (Jerry) who in turn introduced me to another staff member. They welcomed me warmly to the town and the store and have been as welcoming every time that I’ve been in the store (which is probably dozens of times by now), even when it’s busy and chaotic. As an African-American male, who was moving to a town known to have some conservative views, I made it my business when I moved to this town to get out and to meet and introduce myself to people, especially local business owners. I know all too well after 50 years what it’s like to be followed around stores (regardless of the community’s political views) as if I’ve hired a personal bodyguard upon entry. I also have a teenage son who himself worries about how he’s perceived when he’s out and about (since he doesn’t wear his 4.2 HS GPA on his forehead). So I wanted to be sure when we moved to town that everyone knew that we were here and that we were going to support their businesses and I can say, without reservation, that Major Hardware has become one of my favorite businesses to patronize. I’m welcomed and superserved when I visit (not in the bodyguard sense). They always try to help me to figure out the best solution to a project or problem. In fact, Jerry the owner has even offered to come to my home after closing and give me advice about how to tackle a project!! This is why we support small businesses. It has always been worth it to me to pay a little more to make sure that these businesses survive and thrive.

Had a hard time finding the right belt for a mower...a stop in this store solved the issue...and at a fairly cheap price compared to online prices and even other common stores. Need a specific part...try this store. Very knowledgeable staff...

It's an outstanding place that will never disappoint you. You go on thinking, I bet they won't have this, and voila. They go down one of the isles and bring back what you're looking for. Have never ever been disappointed. The people they have helping are outstanding in the knowledge area, professionalism and friendly. And if you get something that doesn't work, you can usually return it. When I need something it's easier for me to drive down a town road than go out to the big box store on the highway. Give them a shot the next time you need something, you'll be glad you did. You can also give them a call before you go.

There is absolutely nothing not to love about this hometown hardware store. The staff is highly knowledge and personable and always willing to give advice. Its a local hardware store so set your expectations that you'll find a great assortment and selection of the basic items you need for the repair and upkeep of your home.

This place has all your home needs. The do more than just sell products they repair windows, screens and more. SUPPORT YOU LOCAL BUSINESSES THEY DESERVE YOUR SUPPORT NOT THE BIG BOX STORES. Give them a try you will be happy. Ice melt, snow shovels, ice choppers, lysol products and much more.

The team at Major is fantastic. They are always there for me. I recently went in to buy a propane tank, and ended up having fun just exploring the store. Jerry also helped me find a masonry anchor I needed. He even explained how to put it in...and his help made it so easy. LOVE THIS PLACE!!

This place is phenomenal. When you need something for a job your doing, the immediate thought is Home Depot or Lowes. More often than not though they don't have it, or there is nobody to ask for help. Major Hardware Supply in Cedar Grove will have it and the knowledgeable staff will help you every step of the way to solve your problem.

Jerry has always been incredibly helpful- cuts glass for my picture frames, makes helpful suggestions, puts batteries in my watches for minimal amounts - no jewelry store can match his prices. Just an all around prince of a guy. A great group of guys also work there.

I come to Cedar Grove every other month to see my elderly mom. There are always little repairs needed around her house, and the guys at Major Hardware could not be more helpful. From rock salt to toilet parts and everything in between, they are personable, glad to give advice on installations, and a pleasure to deal with. Reminds me of the good old days before the big box hardware stores.

The best local hardware store. The staff here is excellent, Intelligent, and helpful. I enjoy going here for all my hardware needs.

I do not live in town but stop in when I am in the area. I have never had a bad experience, the selection is amazing for such a (not so gigantic Big box store) and the prices are ok compared to other hardware stores, the few that still survive. The Major is a top notch guy and has a serious, disciplined demeanor that some may confuse with unflattering intensity. I assure you he is one of the many decent merchants in the area. He is also extremely helpful in finding what you need and donates quite often to area schools and organizations. I salute the Major whenever I see him, and it is not just that I am a veteran, he has my full respect as person.

What I miss most about NJ having moved to TX is this little hardware store where you never leave without either the item you wanted and/or advice on how to complete a job - all in no time at all. Kudos to the owner and all his helpers on a very special feel-good place that's sadly disappearing all too quickly with so many big box stores.

The customer service is extremely friendly and the employees will always help me when I come into the store. I really value having a place with personalized service like this one.

My favorite small hardware store. Friendly service. My father & I often come here whenever we do yardwork for leaf bags and such. Better than those "big box" stores such as Home Depot and Lowe's. Highly reccomended.

I’ve been coming here my entire life and I’ve never had any problems. The staff is exceptional helpful and know exactly what they are doing. The place has very fair prices and good quality products as well. If you are looking for anything the first place to check is this place.
