The Carriage House Restaurant

Perfect place to go for a pre-show meal. The food was great, the wine selection was great and the waiter and staff were very friendly and attentive. I started with the shrimp cocktail - the shrimp were huge and very fresh, the cocktail sauce nicely seasoned (tasted homemade). Next I had the Wagyu Beef - it was delicious but the highlight for me was the puree and brown sauce/gravy...I believe it was potato and root vegetables. It was the creamiest, lightest, most delicious version of mashed potatoes ever! For dessert I had the chocolate/vanilla mousse - the flavor was good but the texture was not as "fluffy" as I like my mousse. Next time I'll try a different dessert. The play Gun&Powder was great too, so starting off here made for an all around wonderful evening! Highly recommend for theatre goers!!

As a special treat for my visit “back home” 3 friends and I made reservations for lunch before the show. It wasn’t until we were seated that I realized there was nothing on the menu that met my Plant based dietary needs. I asked our server what she would suggest. She returned with several options for each course. When our meals were served we were all delighted with our choices. Everything was beautifully presented, delicious, and more than satisfying. My plant-based meal was high quality, full of flavor and texture and I would highly recommend my meal to anyone, even if they didn’t normally follow a plant based diet normally. It was That Good. And to top it off, the Chef came to our table to make sure we were all satisfied with our choices. I was More than satisfied and would highly recommend this restaurant for its food, atmosphere, quaint setting, and professional care for all guests!

Had a pre-show dinner here and was pleasantly surprised. A prix-fixed three-course meal was on offer. I had a beet salad that was plentiful and very nicely seasoned. For mains we had a Steak Diane with Mushroom sauce that was excellent, perfectly prepared. Other main was a duck breast with quinoa and a berry sauce (forget the berry - Lingonberry perhaps?) that again, was perfectly prepared and tasted great. Deserts were a Flourless Chocolate Cake with whipped cream/pistachios and a Limoncello Creme Brule. And one more time I'll say, both were very good. Nice meal all around, service was spot on, and the wine list, while not extensive, offered ample choices by the glass and/or bottle, and was priced within reason.

What great place! It reminded me of Williamsburg VA. Thank you Sonia for being a great waitress. We will definitely be back!

We are subscribers and donors to the Paper Mill Playhouse. We dine at the Carriage House prior to each performance. The pre fixe menu has great selections and includes appetizer, main course entree and dessert. Special drinks are available with names keyed to the current theatrical production.

We also make it a point to ask for a table within Giovanna's (or Alyssa's station. Both deliver super service and effectively juggle very busy Saturday evening crowds. They even surprised me with a 'happy birthday' special dessert.

On performance evenings the restaurant turns the tables over only once, so you can relax and enjoy the service and food without feeling rushed.

Our only criticism is that the background music is loud enough to force diners to speak loudly to be heard. This forces the ambient noise level to be louder than it should be.

I love the Carriage House Restaurant! The food a la carte and prix-fixe options are all delicious. The chef will even accommodate vegan and vegetarian diets. I love that the menus are themed for each show, too.

They also have a series called Carriage House Presents with murder mystery dinners, pianists, trivia, singers, etc. I can't wait for their summer programming with outdoor dining by the river and frozen cocktails. Who doesn't love dining al fresco?!

This place was absolutely amazing. The food was delicious, our server was extremely friendly, and the location itself was not only clean but also had an impeccable atmosphere. I especially loved that the restaurant's menu was themed around The Great Gatsby, which was the musical being shown at the playhouse right next door. It was a detail that I did not expect but found myself being rather appreciative of. Overall, I very much enjoyed this experience and would definitely return.

My sister and I went yesterday for lunch before the Hercules show at the theater next door. We walked in the door were we were greeted by an extremely lovely woman! Our server was Chris whom we plan to go back and see during the next show! She was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, easy to talk to and was just overall great! By the end of our lunch we felt as though we had made a new friend! Lol The food was excellent and was served in a timely manner. It was a wonderful experience and will definitely be back!

Pre show food has never been this great THIS close to the theater. Our drinks were made perfectly, and the food we order came out fast and tasted great. The menu is on the smaller side so that they can give you reliable food, and make sure you have enough time to get over to the theater. The service there is also above and beyond they really want to make sure you have a great experience. Definitely try them out before your next show at Paper Mill Playhouse!

It was a post-show dinner with friends. The prix-fixe menu was simple but the food was really delicious. You could tell that the chef loves his job. It's a good spot to meet friends after the show at Papermill Playhouse. I don't think I would visit this place for any other occasion.

Extremely nice evening-had excellent service with delicious cocktails & unique appetizers. The main entree was superb. I had salmon & my husband had steak. The entertainment during the meal was very good also. We finished the meal with coffee, cheesecake & nutella mouse. Fabulous!

Last night I had the most memorable autumn dish! I had the maple glazed chicken with mashed sweet potatoes that was to die for! The butternut squash soup and pumpkin bread pudding...omg! I have NEVER had a bad meal here..ever! The chef is superb! Which keeps me making reservations here every time I see a show! 🍴🎭

With fireside tables, this is a perfect winter restaurant for an after show dinner or intermission bite.

A can't miss experience prior to any main stage performance at the paper mill playhouse theater! Elegantly prepared 3 course meal with a stunning list of specialty cocktails and a good variety of wine and beer. Service is always wonderful also!

It's one of those memorable meals that you just close your eyes with every bite and say... Oh my gosh. My compliments to the chefs as they make each plate just as delicious as beautifully plated.
Love how they change the menu for each play! Will definitely be coming back and bringing some ladies for brunch.

We have been there many times pre theatre. Excellent food, attentive service, beautiful surroundings...all and all a wonderful experience!

Delicious prix fixe dinner before seeing Hercules!

We just wanted a cup of coffee and juice before our Matinee at Papermill Playhouse.
The waiter was most accommodating. Added a dinner roll for each of us.

Absolutely Delicious! Tonight we had the dinner for two from Positano. I might as well have been sitting there on the he cliffs of Positano. Holly captured the essence and taste of a beloved Italian past vacation.
Thank you Holly for a walk down memory lane and a fabulous dinner. Loved every bite.
